This team seems to hate WRs with 4.4 or better speed

Diggs is great but runs 4.5. Plus he’s not a slot guy. Die guys aren’t meant for the slot. D rebid hit roasted by v Cruz in the slot:

I think there’s also something to be said for game speed. TO ran a 4.6+ and no one could run with him down field.

No you wouldn't.. most of them struggle mightily trying to carry pads..

Exactly why 40 times may not carry as much weight, no pun intended. I really think NFL players should run 40s in pads. A stronger receiver with 4.5 time, may have identical speed to the 4.4 guy with pads on we just don't know.

4.5-4.55 seems to be the sweet spot for big bodied WR1 types.

Not knocking dudes that can fly…I’ve always though adding someone with that kind of speed would put our O over the top but those guys that are actually good at WR are hard to come by and are usually small.

Probably so. But the replies that take "Cowboys don't play enough fast receivers" to mean "I think anybody fast is an excellent receiver" are also guilty of some black-and-white thinking.
you’re absolutely right.

T williams, m Gallup, c lamb. All 4.51s. Or 4.52. Cooper was a 4.4. But they didn’t send him deep a lot. Tolbert runs4.49 he’s in the bench. Simi runs 4.4 he so on the bench. Turpin looks 4.3 ish. He doesn’t see the field in offense

Too afraid it'll scare the defense

Gotta have a QB that can get them the football....and Dak can barely throw 45 yards. He's damaged goods...can't throw off that bum ankle. The book is out on him.

Hell he can barely throw it short except when it's to shultz, every pass other than that is behind the wide out

I think people put way too much stock into 40 times. Think about it like this - stand in one spot and call it 4.5, 4.51, or 4.52. Now step forward about 12 inches and call that 4.3. Is there really that much of a gap between the two? Step forward another 2 or 3 inches and call it 4.2 - has the distance increased much?

If we were comparing 4.4 speeds to something like 6.0, only then would there be a noticeable distance. But 4.3 compared to 4.5? The 4.5 guy can still reach out and put his hand on the shoulder of the 4.3 guy within the 1st 50 yards.
true, and they rarely run at full speed. Also I dont think those times are in football gear.

but if a 4.3 breaks into the open he is hard to catch.

There is something to putting turpin out wide and run a go route, and throw to him, just to get them wary of him, and if he
did get a couple steps and the qb hits him in stride, then he is a big threat.

Better than not doing anything with him or throwing the same ol passes to lamb and gallup.

This is all I am saying but boy wonder won’t even do that.
