Tim McManus: Eagles firing Sirani is in play

...wow, few months ago. The guy was on cover of Time.

Now closed to being outcasted.

Dont speak too soon. McCarthy’s job isnt safe either
McCarthy is a lead-pipe lock to be back next year. He's under contract already for next season, with a 12-5 record for the third consecutive season, and has the full endorsement of J. Jones, who publicly stated this week that he "couldn't be more please" with the performance of his head coach.

This is exactly why everybody should take a leaf out of Jason Garrett;s philosophy. Be a company man and tow the line and set up yourself financially for life.Being a dick works when you win, and when you lose it bites you badly.

As much as I don't like the idea of them going out and finding a great coach... seeing that POC getting fired sounds wonderful!

And we complain about Jerry being a bad owner. Now we are finding out that he is far from the worst.

Rumors in Philly is that it was ownership who decided to switch to Patricia as DC at the end of the season. And that they hired Sirianni because he was a younger coach who they could get to do their bidding more easily. Of course the Eagles winning covers up the flaws and problems Lurie and Howie has made of running that team. But outside of the seasons they have gone to the Super Bowl, they have made plenty of bad moves and decisions. Whether that through some of the players they have drafted or signing players like Shaq Leonard to their team.

I really doubt that is the case.

The Eagles lost both their OC and DC last offseason from their Super Bowl team so the most logical starting point for fixing their team should they not get back to the Super Bowl would be to hire a new OC and/or DC for next season.

The only reason you fire a head coach one year removed from a Super Bowl appearance would be because he's lost the team or he violated some NFL rules that could blow back on the team.
or because he sucks and the coordinators and team talent got them there. also he’s clearly lost the locker room

McCarthy wins 12 games for 3 straight years and get's fired. Garrett goes 8-8 and loses the division to each of our rivals three years straight and we get stuck with him for nearly a decade more. Only in Jerry world. lol
Not saying I agree with it lol

Some owners don't even wait that long.

There’s absolutely no job security with any head coaching job. Head coaches have been fired after one season. That’s life as an NFL head coach.
Usually there's at least contract security, unless you are Urban Meyer and you screw up so badly that an owner can fire you for cause.

Not sure why people are gloating

If the Cowboys lose on Sunday, McCarthy is as good as gone

Siriani is overrated. He had the best roster in football last year. He had a damn good roster this year and he let the team get away from him. IMO, the Eagles are a better team without him. They need a coach on the sidelines, not a clown.

I hope Vrabel does not go to NE. Another below. 500 team without a qb will hurt his resume.
