it's a little early to be hitting the "red button" regarding our backups. check that. it's way early.

now if romo or henson haven't displayed enough to make BP comfortable with his #2 after the 3rd preseason game.... i guaran-d***-tee ya he will whip out the "little black book".

so... while VT and QC don't exactly inspire awe in most of us - they may look a whole lot better around August 30th.

just as all the girls look prettier 'round closin' time...

not saying it will happen.

but don't fall out if it does.

This is a silly thought to me. VT

Henson and Romo were the backups LAST year. I see no reason short of implosion that they are not the backups THIS year. In fact Romo was given a 2 year deal and appears to be playing at a higher level this camp.

In his 3rd year as a UDFA and just signed a Randall Williams' extension. Not showing enough to shut-up Vet backup talk yet. Wouldn't be suprised to see him cut for a vet at all.

BP ain't risking his name on any more Blades, Stewarts, Tuckers, Romos, etc.

Add Henson, Scott, Davis to that list.

Only Tucker hurt the team on the field last year. Thats on Parcells.
Stewart and Blade were cut I believe.

He'd be risking his name bringing back a year old QB. Pass on VT big time......

Romo received a sweet deal - accelerated bonus and salary bump.

Now its time to do it on the field. Poor Henson is year two playing for NFL minimum.

Poor Henson has 3.5 million guaranteed and we gave up a 3rd for him.

Romo got a deal identical to Randall and isn't guaranteed jack.

On top of that we gave up a what for Romo?

I believe it was an 8th round draft choice.

Last off season before Vinny signed, I thought it would be a bad idea. I thought Vinny was a year older and not a year better. That isn't a plus for a guy that was at best average over his entire career. Funny how my feelings on him have not changed to the present time. Give the kids a chance in the pre-season games. They will make mistakes. If they have to play in the regular season, they will make mistakes. That is what young QBs do.

This season is about trying to win, but it is also about trying to build for the future. Bringing in Vinny slows any future growth down and for what. What if Bledsoe gets hurt? Vinny isn't going to automatically become a good QB and step in and lead this team. I would rather rally around a young, inexperienced guy than a washed up QB.

Hard to rally around a 6-10 season. That's what the guys will be thinking. They know what they get with Vinny T. Been there done that mindset.

last season, it's quite possible dallas would have contended for the top pick if vinny had gone down. it may be difficult for you to remember - but the team once went 1-15. that kinda season makes 6-10 look like disneyland.

i want the kids to do well. it serves my interests as a fan. but one of them has to start canking it up.

cuz if neither does.... parcells may enter this season with only one QB he can "trust". but he won't try "vinny and the yets" again. somebody has to gain his confidence at #2.

as you are fond of saying... book it.

There is a better reason, keep Henson cause if he would of stayed in chool and played he would of been a first round pick. I was hoping for alot more from him. Maybe it is there, maybe it isn't. We've wasted higher then a 3rd rd pick before. I would love more depth at QB, but like i said before why cut the better one of the two?

I just don't see any QB changes from our current 3 unless injuries happen. Good or bad, these are the signal callers we're going to go with this year. Happily the starter is playing well. I belive the two backups are talented enough to get it. I belive the Coaching staff are dedicated enough to teach them. I have my doubts that the fandom is patient enough to relax.

You are calling out the wrong fan on remembering a 1-15 season. I have since a 5 year old witnessed the LANDRY ERA AS FAR BACK AS 1971!

Stop with your act, Parcells wanted to win last year and wants to win this year. VT is gone and aint coming back. In case you are not paying attention, ROMO IS TAKING THAT JOB.

Romo got a deal identical to Randall and isn't guaranteed jack.

BS - HE HAD ACCELERATED BONUS AND SALARY SANS $560K - HE'LL SEE $900K THIS YEAR

Apparently Romo is learning the same lesson, hence all the bring in another QB talk.

Is anyone shutting that talk up?

Didn't think so.

Romo's 3rd full off season. Where's the progress.

Mick and Bill Jones went off on Romo last night.

Small, inaccurate, weak arm, not mobile, bad decisions.

At least he has moxie.

Bledsoe is a horse. I'm not too worried about the backup because history says, other than the one freak injury, Bledsoe is going to stay healthy and play. Love him or hate him, Bledsoe is as durable as a steel belted radial.

I wouldn't hesitate to push the VT button if after a couple pre season games Romo and Henson look bad. You do need someone to come in for a game or two that can win. I'd rather it be Romo or Henson, but VT can do the job short term. He's just not a guy at his age you want playing for more than a few games. The question of whether the other two can be trusted in real games is about to be answered. If not, go with the old guy. Heck I'm old enough to remember George Blanda coming off the bench for the Raiders at 46 years old and winning games in the mid 70's.

You need to get out - most all I have read from the majority of those reporting at camp. Romo is having a great camp. See todays report from DC.com and Henson has struggled so far....

When Romo is named, don't try the Verazano or Goethels. George Washington or road trip North to Tappan Zee is the ticket.

This is just a battle for a backup job. Not real big in the big picture.

Find me one example of someone that counts saying Romo is having a great, excellent or exceptional training camp.

Bust out the proverbial crickets.
