Numbers.
McCoy, Jackson, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown are ahead of him on the depth chart. Not many teams can afford to carry five RBs.
Brown or Dixon will get cut before Williams

Ill take Dixon. Pass on Brown though. Fumble machine and a knucklehead
Maybe, which is why I would inquire about trading for Williams. Dreaming a little, of course. We'd never get desperate enough to do something.
Agreed. But Bryce Brown would fit right in with our unreliable Three Stooges at RB on this roster.
They do have some good depth!
Earlier, I listed 14 teams that may have to drop at least one RB that could possibly knock one of our 3 off the roster.
Buffalo, Chicago, Seattle, and a couple of others were at the top.
With Ryan as coach, I think they keep 4. Just have a hard time seeing them give up on a rookie draft pick they really like.

Terrence West could be on the trading block. Came in overweight and is a bit of a knucklehead. Don't know if I'd be interested in giving anything up for him, but I might just pick him up if he's cut.
"We will need to monitor Darren some more," Stephen Jones stated. "Not worried."
Miami Dolphins Rumors: Evan Mathis Free Agent Target, Lamar Miller Trade With Rishard Matthews Possible After Jay Ajayi, DeVante Parker Draft Picks?

I still think this could be a perfect fit for us. Leary for Miller. Straight up. Both guys will be looking for true starter money next year. We have Collins and Berny. Would Collins be a step down right now from Leary? Yes. But Miller would be a huge upgrade over anything we have at running back. And Collins has a higher ceiling than Leary.
