Twitter: Todd Archer: Quick thoughts on last drive

Because they would have had a defender play that. All the Eagles were doing is basically putting they're feet on the goalline and saying "break a tackle."

I thought they should have thrown it shorter to CD so he had more time to try to make a man miss, but that's nitpicking.
He would have had to make a couple guys miss.

With 5 seconds they should have ran a 7-12 yard out and got out of bounds. This would have increased their odds of scoring. Ball would not have needed to be in the air as long!

Yes it was. In stride and he walks in. Him coming back for it was what allowed the Eagles to rally to the ball.
In stride he was either ahead of the guys behind him, or going the wrong direction for the guys in front.
That’s ridiculous! There were 8 guys back watching the flight of the ball. All of them are not taking the wrong angle.

Honest question but isn't grounding way better than a sack in that situation. You burn way more clock and lose field position?
I could be wrong but I think grounding also comes with the 10 second runoff so maybe not.

I just screamed out loud! And don't you remember the dumb a** defense we played at the end of the half against I can't remember... (and I think it was Philthy) we put everyone at the goal line right? The other team threw the pass from the 50 to the 15 maybe? they used blockers and easily ran the ball into the endzone for 6 to end the half. Pretty sure it was Garret and this was the prevent defense. Prevented us from winning...

Hook and ladder to a big body would have been a better play. Have Cee Dee catch it and lateral to Ferguson or Luepke with a head of steam. All the defenders converging on Lamb would have been flatfooted with a locomotive coming at them.

Dang I wish someone would remember the play I just described and how easily they scored when we put everyone on the goal line...I'm getting too old.

Or that play the chiefs ran on us once. Before the half. They jsut threw it short and had blockers , at that point it’s almost like 10 on 8 ya know?
YES!!!! I just posted that. Doesn't anyone look at past games for idea? I would take that job in a minute.

I'm pretty sure the play you describe was against Kansas City and it was right before the half not at the end of the game. They hit Tyreke Hill short and he scored the TD easily. However we ended up winning that game if I'm not mistaken.

No they weren't. They were covering receivers. It was a line drive not a bomb.

Watch it again.

I really appreciate everyone's posts, but did anyone notice that Terrance Steele didn't even look as if he was putting forth any kind of effort whatsoever. DC has to realize the liability. I'm in your corner if you go down fighting and his effort was an embarrassment.

You don't risk grounding by throwing the ball out of the back of the endzone. That is a lame excuse.

Every team in the league practices it and you are allowed to throw it as far over a player's head as you want.
