Looked to me like the Ravens defense focused on Pollard a little more when he was in the game and were getting in the backfield on his carries. He didn't qualify to show up on the report that shows stacked boxes so I can't see what his % was. Zeke only faced a stacked box 16.67% of his rushing attempts which is 3 of 18 carries. Those would be the goal line attempts where he was stuffed all 3 times. I'll have to go back and watch Pollard's carries to see if my perception of the defense focusing on him is accurate or if my perception from last night was off since the hard data isn't available on him.

I don't know how you (or they) can claim this..

I have the game up and just scrolled through Zeke's first 7 carries..

1) 1st and 10 - 5 man line and 3 backers.. = 8 man box - gain of 1
2) 2nd and 9 - 5 man line and 3 backers.. = 8 man box.. - gain of 7
3) 2nd and 1 - 5 man line and 3 backers + 1 safety up = 9 man box - gain of 2
4) 3rd and 24 - 4 man line and 2 backers = 6 man box.. gain of 9
5) 1st and 10 - 4 man line and 3 backers + 1 safety = 8 man box.. gain of 2
6) 2nd and 8 - 4 man line and 2 backers = 6 man box ... gain of 13
7) 2nd and 8 - 4 man line and 2 backers = 6 man box ... gain of 4

I don't know what game "the report" was watching but seems like to me they're full of ****.

If you like I can post pictures with a count. I lean toward disregarding any site that actually watches a game and comes back with this sort of crap conclusion. They're either blind or straight up lying. Not only was Zeke facing a stacked box he was still moving the chains against it. I don't even need to watch any further because I know what the defensive alignment was on the goal line plays.. so that's at least 7 carries with at least 8 in the box right there.

The only thing I can think of is that these sites may treat the DE who lines up outside technique as "not in the box." Which is stupid. All the defense is doing there is taking advantage of a less athletic tackle and allowing the DE a better chance to get into the backfield untouched.. Which you may have noticed, happens a lot to this team.

Funny thing, not ha ha funny, for all this 1 or 2 yard runs or runs for losses, Pollard has a better YPC at 4.7 than Elliott at 3.9. The vikings game is the only game this season where Elliott was anything close to the Elliott of old and he still had a lower YPC at 4.9 than Pollard who had a 12 YPC. Yes Elliott has more carries and it's harder to keep a higher YPC but Pollard proves that normally when he's in the Cowboys move the ball. So Pollard had a bad game last night but that's just 5 less than Elliott has had this season.
.
.

You may wanna rethink this argument given that last night was the 5th time this year than Pollard has averaged less than 3.5 ypc. Or do those other games not count? FYI Zeke only has 4 such games.. The change of pace back is SUPPOSED to have a higher ypc average for reasons we've already gone over ad nauseum. That's why it's so disturbing when Pollard DOESN'T.

Right, right....Zeke runs for 1- and 2-yard gains and it’s “Moore is not letting him get in rhythm!”

When Pollard has a 3-yard gain it’s “heeeeeeehaaaw...heeeeehaaaaw....I thought Pollard was sooo much better than Zeke?!?!”

Pollard has more negative yard runs than Zeke on the season on less than 1/3 the carries.. just like he did last night.. He has been credited with 2 broken tackles this season to 11 for Zeke.. Zeke breaks a tackle every 18th rush.. Pollard every 32nd .. So basically Zeke breaks tackles at roughly twice the rate Pollard does.. But Pollard is better...

okay....

I have no need to.. I can watch the game and see for myself what is going on. And if I really want to see the coaches film I can buy the all-22. I don't need someone else to tell me what the hell I'm watching. I've played, coached and watched enough to be able to see how many guys are on the line or in the box without needing someone else to tell me. Nothing against people who do.. I'm just not one of them. I may not know what their assignment was on a particular play.. but I can certainly see where they lined up. AND I can see what they did at the snap. If an end crashed in they were playing run.. if they started upfield and tried to work to the QB they were playing pass. It's not that hard really. If they dropped into coverage either they or their DC had a brain fart.

Was able to watch the first 2 runs. 1st run looks like stacked box. 2nd does not. Mind showing me where you are picking up that 8th man?

Running backs in general are the most overrated position in football. They are only as good as the OL in front of them. This was proven when Murray decided to take more money elsewhere.

He pal, watch it! He’s played and coached football, he doesn’t need stats to tell what percentage of the time zeke has broken tackles or had YAC, he can watch it for himself and tell you the real truth.

8 carries for 22 yards? Really? This is the guy yall are insisting should replace Zeke? As I predicted the long layoff allowed Zeke to bring a little juice to the stadium tonight. Alas I think he will be hard pressed to be physically ready in 5 days to play on Sunday. F you Goodell. So instead of just one game on short rest we get two this year. F you Goodell. But I digress. Both backs ran hard tonight.. but again we see that Pollard is good for an occasional splash play but there's a lot of bone dry in between them. What we saw from Zeke was consistently grinding out positive yards.. Even a couple of nice cutbacks for over 10.. Except for the idiotic play calling on the first and goal from the 1. Three straight plays into the teeth of a 9 man box with the line getting blown into the backfield. Would it kill you to run wide or off tackle down there Kellen Moore? Good thing Cooper bailed Dalton out on the 4th down throw. Dalton almost airmailed that thing.. McCarthy needs to take film of that sequence into his offseason meeting with Jerry and say " this is why I need to call plays man.. "

Pollard did have the one nice kick return but I repeat for those of you who believe he ran 4.3 at his pro-day.. If he was really that fast that linebacker doesn't track him down once he broke free like that. A true 4.3 burner takes that thing to the house high stepping the last 30 yards.
They gotta get this oline fixed. Walter Peyton in his prime would not be able to run behind this makeshift line. Don't fault Pollard or Zeke. They run hard and fight the both of them. You can have stallions in your backfield but with poor blocking up front and no movement good lord what can you do as a back? Fix this line next year and have decent backups like a lot of teams do.

Agree, just like after the J. Smith INT against the WFT, 1st and goal as soon as Zeke took the ball 3 defenders was on his tail no chance at all. That line could not block my high school team D.

This guy is really pushing hard for dumbest poster of 2020 award.

Pollard averages 5.3 yards per touch in his career.

Zeke (even including the years he was elite) averages 5.1 yard per touch in his career.

No one is claiming Pollard is a badass. We're just saying look how a mediocre RB like Pollard puts up similar or better numbers than $90 million supposedly elite RB.

He actually makes Zeke look worse, IMO. I am beginning to think Zeke really wasn’t all that good in 2016, but was just the beneficiary of a great offensive line. When the line started to deteriorate, Zeke has too. His big plays were gaping holes and/or screens with downfield blockers. He is lucky he was drafted by the Cowboys and walked into a perfect situation.

Things are going really well for your $90MM running back that a day after dropping to 3-9 you use 8 carries by his backup to defend him.

Really, really well.

It’s hilarious to see the same people who gloated about how great he was and acted like the O line had nothing to do with his success now use it as an excuse.

In all the years they defended him, no other RB got the O line excuse because zeke would be great with or without a good O line and our O line was always over rated even though the stats said otherwise. Now once the tables have turned the O line is suddenly an acceptable excuse for poor production. Unbelievable.

Zeke sucks. Hate to break it to his fans.

Just watch other games. There is nothing special about him anymore.
..but wait, he's only 25 yrs old. I'd rather say, he lost the Mojo on the basis of No QB and makeshift OL. The guy can still ball with right circumstances.

Right, when the stats don’t support his narrative he quickly switches into “I don’t need no stats to tell me nuthin’”
