Trade talks

Right now both of those guys are penciled in as big time contributors.
And trading both would have cap effects that cause more dead cap money.

No we would save $5mill dumping Greg.

My first reaction was " why ? ". If the Cowboys are planning to contend for the SB, doesn't make sense making this trade.

Yea, but not by much. Actually trading both would pretty much cancel each other out cap wise. We'd save nearly 5 million dollars by trading Ellis, but then would have to pay all that back by the cap hit that the trading of Crayton would create.

All that said I do not like Michael Johnson at all. He looks a total mess on game day no matter how pretty he looks running 40s. He had a really bad year playing football.

That's why he's falling and why I like him in the 2nd round. As first round pick, I wouldn't necessarily take him, but in the 2nd round, he's well worth it. I think Philips system would turn him into a pass rushing freak.

Crayton will not be traded

he signed a 4 year extension with a 6 million signing bonus last year he was 2.5 million on the cap this year he counts 3million

if we trade him his remaining signing bonus would accelerate to this year which would be 4.5 million his base salary is only 1.5million so we would lose a lot more cap space.

Sorry after cutting TO I just do not see Dallas making a move like this with crayton.

If TO was still here I say it is a maybe I just do not buy it

I doubt this stuff very much.
Well, I may eat my own words. I was just told that this may have some legs. Not in the exact way it is being reported, but Ellis is being shopped and is probably not on the 2009 team.

From someone I do trust.

First the cancers, now the whiners. This offseason is looking up.

Lets hope your trustee is trustworthy. Im ready to dump that guy, I think I have a man-crush on Spencer anyway.

What are you hearing is the asking price ? OR are the Cowboys willing to just give him away ?

He simply said he's heard rumblings, but not necessarily these (reported earlier) and that I should not be surprised if Ellis is not on this team when Camp starts.

Got it.

Sounds to me like it's one of this: " If they get an offer for Ellis, he's gone ".

I think that's it exactly. If they don't and they draft an OLB they like he's gone anyway. I think the job is Spencer's anyway.

Hos, should we more expect movement on this closer too or on draft day?
I'll have to ask. He said he had not heard the specific rumors reported on DC.com but that he had heard rumblings. I'll try and get back to you on this tomorrow if he will say any more than he already has.

Good Stuff bruddah! Appreciate the solid intel!

Listen tell him that your just going to post it here in the zone and only....oh....several hundred folks will be in on the secret! We wont leak it to those goobers at a certain television network.

Seriously, thanks for what you have gotten and hopefully the clarification to follow! You are a scholar and a gentleman sir.

I spent years defending Ellis' lack of production and thought he was a quality player, but that was before he started complaining so much recently. If we could get any draft pick for Ellis I would do it in a heartbeat rather than no parting gift.
