Trey Lance trade is one of the worst moves Jerry has ever done

And that’s say a lot. There was absolutely no reason to make this trade at this time in the year for another QB. He’s probably not going to play at all this season. All it does is create QB controversy with the haters who actually believe that he’s better than Dak. And what’s worse, MM had no idea about the trade until it was already done. Dumb move by the ownership. Just horrible timing right before the season opener.
Lol not at all.
We have no young talent to develop. Rush is a career backup.
We traded for someone who has the athletic ability and it just needs to be realized.

Literally a great win win trade for the Cowboys. If hr pans out we finally have a top 10 drafted qb whose still younger than qbs drafted this year.

If he doesn't we lose out on a 4th round next year

Rush and Grier would easily make practice squad without getting picked up by another team.

Lance is an upgrade over both Rush and Grier and I don't see anything wrong with upgrading positions..... Even backups
How in the world is Lance an upgrade?
He can’t even play yet. Right now Grier is better than Lance.

I really don’t see why people are mad about losing a 4th. We have picked guys in the first round that turned out to be trash, and we’re worried about a 4th rounder? I have a feeling that if anyone in our division had got him for a 4th round pick, people here would be saying “Jerry’s stupid for not giving up a 4th rounder for him” lose, lose situation.
I feel like if we heard that Trey was offered and Jerry and/or Stephen said we did our “due diligence” but didn’t make the deal and Trey ended in Philly, NY, or Green Bay we as fans would be fuming cuz our FO isn’t aggressive.

Relax, it’s a 4th round pick and young player who can develop.

There was an opportunity to improve the position. A previous top 5 pick for a 4th rounder. It’s a good move and the QB room got better. And there’s no controversy whatsoever. Could be a suitable long term backup!

One of the worst? Objectively, it's one of the best (the Hershel Walker trade was no doubt his best).

"Creating a QB controversy" (which it doesn't - not yet at least) is not a legitimate reason not to make a trade to potentially better your team for a prospect as young, originally highly rated, and for minimal draft pick compensation even when not compared to what the original team gave up for him. It's more of a sign that says I'm afraid of how it might affect the player I want playing over success of the team. Competition has always been part and parcel to sports betterment and legitimate victories and crowned champions - you beat the best to be the best.

This was a move with the potential to improve the Cowboys future prospects. It has nothing to do with this season and neither does a 2024 4th round draft pick anyway.

There are other "bums" who got traded in favor of a different quarterback. Some have already been mentioned.

Bret Favre was traded by the Falcons to the Packers. The Falcons considered him a bust. In his first season he threw 4 passes and two of them were intercepted. He attempted a fifth one that season and he was sacked.

Steve Young was traded by the Bucs to the 49ers because he was deemed a bust. In his first two seasons, he was 3-16 as a starter for the Bucs. He threw for 11 TD's and 21 INT's.

Trey Lance is in pretty good comapny when it comes to QB's given a 2nd chance on their careers.

Exactly, and he's got time to get healthy and develop. I think this is good for both him and the team. I think, if he can develop like I think he can, that this move will pay off for the Cowboys.

Dallas trades for a recent #3 overall drafted QB who struggled with some injuries and play in SF and gets a fresh start.....something tells me this has more to do with the Dakfanatics defending Dak at all costs and keeping any competition away from Captain Mediocre.....just look back to last season when the Dakfanatics blasted Cooper Rush for his limited play in spite of leading Dallas to a 4-1 record while Dak was out.

The team didn't even inform Dak Prescott prior to the deal...must not have been relative to that status.

The question is, is he a bust or did he get caught up in politics and a HC that doesn't have time to develop a young qb, Worse case scenario is he sucks and is at best a 3 qb. Best case scenario is MM develops his talent and we just stole our future Franchise qb. If we can get this guy to look even capable, we trade him or get our 4th comp pic back. heck we got a 4th for the red rocket for petesake. Everyone knew the kid needed time to develop on draft day. He has physical tools , Shanahan with a loaded qb room didn't have time for the kid. Why not grab him for a 4th

“We very seldom ever talk to anybody, another player, about who we’re thinking about drafting or who we’re thinking about getting involved with,” Jones said. “We don’t do that.”

The Cowboys believe Lance better matches the dual-threat skills brought by Prescott, who has been more conservative with his running since the gruesome broken ankle that ended his 2020 season in Week 5...

...The 23-year-old played just eight games with four starts in San Francisco, with his chance to be the starter ending in Week 2 last season because of a broken ankle.

The Cowboys haven’t drafted a quarterback higher than the fourth round in 22 years (Prescott was a fourth-rounder in 2016). Executive vice president Stephen Jones said the club has thought about drafting QBs more in three-plus years with coach Mike McCarthy.

Arron Rogers had a mediocre year , for him, the year before they drafted his replacement. His next 3 years were fantastic. I don't care who ur qb is competition is always a good thing.

"Your boy"? Dak hater to the core ^^^^.

I hope Dak gets let go after next season, and Cowboys Nation is forced to watch your new boy Lance try to duplicate (or come anywhere close) to what Dak has accomplished.
So, you're hoping the team suffers, just to prove a point about Dak?

C'mon, you don't mean that!

While it remains to be seen whether or not the QB room got better, it was a prudent move, simply because we know Grier isn't the guy, and Lance will be replacing him.

This entire thing went down in a 24-48 hour period. No one "saw" it coming, including Jerry Jones and John Lynch.
