Tyler Smith has been in the league for two years, one year at left tackle(17 games) playing for the often injured Tyron Smith and last year at guard(14 games).......HE was specifally drafted to replace Tyron, Tyron is now gone and Dallas has options at guard, they don't have many options at tackle, so you can either fill one position via the draft or two, I'd rather replace one position, CENTER via the draft....The team has more holes than Swiss cheese now….it didn’t before free agency. That was a decision by the front office to not create cap space. It had some positions of need that could have been filled with moderate (not egregious) spending in free agency which would allowed them to have way more flexibility in the draft- particularly signing a linebacker and a serviceable upgrade at D tackle.
in terms of jpj being gone and what evidence do I have? The same evidence you have that he’ll be there. I don’t think he gets past Pitt who desperately needs a center. And no I wouldn’t rather “draft” two offensive lineman because I would have brought Tyron back.
Tyler has a been a stud where he’s been for 2 years straight. We know what we are getting. He’s much better at this position, the cowboys need to stop moving him around and let him excel. We’ve seen Them ruin guys bouncing them around. You calling Tyron a back up is factually proven wrong by the fact that another nfl team just paid him to be a starter.
This is the problem with the cap, you can't continue to rework contracts effecting your cap down the line, you can't continue to push money back on future caps to clear some oney for a current year, Dallas has done that for three years and now why they're stuck with Dak costing 59 million this year and 36 million next year if they chose to move on from him, I'm not interested in giving him a new deal, he's just not good enough to lead this team, 8 years have been long enough to see that....Zeke, another ridiculous contract is costing 6 million against the cap in dead money, Gallup is going to cost something like 16 million over two years against the cap in dead money, Martin is going to cost Dallas dead money in two years when he's no longer on the team...ALL money Dallas would have if they weren't continuing to rework contracts to get some money to sign players over the last three plus years, the bill has come due, time to play out the year, move on from Dak, dead money hell in 2025, rebuild in 2026..and I think that's that's the Cowboys are going to do!
