Additionally, we can't be certain how it translates to the field just yet, but from a logical standpoint the added weight will make him more stout in the run game.

We need a replacement for for Colombo, Davis, Spears, and a young talented CB. WE have to find that with our first 4 picks. We trade back and get Smith, Harris, Cannon, and Ellis or Jenkins then we did that. Trading back is worth and being able to add Cannon is worth missing out on Smith because you know a Castanzo, Carimi, or Sherrod will still be there.

You can go ahead and add Detroit to these teams who probably have Smith as their number 1 rated OT:
Cleveland
Dallas
Washington
Houston
Minnesota
Detroit
New York Giants
Philadelphia
I bet all these teams have Smith rated number 1 at the position. 7 of the 8 teams need an OT for sure.

http://www.usctrojans.com/blog/2011/03/usc-pro-day-player-interviews.htmlThe sun was out on Loker Track Stadium today as NFL coaches, like the Cowboys' Jason Garrett and Raiders' Hue Jackson, and team scouts watched the Trojans who took part in USC Pro Day.
Here is Tyron Smith, who is projected as a first round pick and the top Trojan. Smith ran a 40 in 5 seconds flat and benched 225 pounds 31 times.

31 Pittsburgh
so grab him at 9
SDogo;3893201 said:Yeah but Dallas would not be picking 16 out of the goodness of their hearts. If they are at 16 they obviously got something in return for sliding down.
Most people see the value in Smith after a trade down because of the extra picks.
Chris in Arizona;3893205 said:but if they really like Smith (or whatever player) you have to make sure you are still going to get your guy. Trading down just to get an extra mid-round pick is not a good enough reason to trade down.
GloryDaysRBack;3893208 said:correct...you only trade down in a scenario in which multiple players are available that you have graded equally..
this at least increases the likelihood of getting one of these players..
