I do like to see the guilty punished.....

I don't recall anyone signing Little after he did what he did - only the team that he played for keeping him. And if his case had gotten the attention it deserved, he wouldn't be playing. That was a mistake that happened in the past. Fortunately history didn't repeat itself with another wrong.

Yeah, maybe his new team will win as many championships with him as his old team did. That should be worth any negative PR, right?

Like I've said, hold your breath for your 'hero's' return.

Please hold your breath.

Little got anothe DUI after killing that lady. And now youre just being silly. I can tell youre getting mad and its kinda cute but you really should relax.

Jamal Lewis just signed a new contract. Ray Lewis has no problem finding a job. Heck, its going to be 2 years from now when this is being decided in more liklihood and the media frenzy will be gone and thats quite a bit of time.

I think all of this analysis and in-depth research in trying to understand why there's such a huge public uproar over what Vick did is actually much simpler than what you might think:

People like animals more than they like people.

I can break it down to 1 word.

Senseless.

You know what... I sometimes think people actually think that way too...seen examples of it too...How did Walt Garrison put it..."People are strange critters"

Would not be wise to let your emotions get out of control and find yourself getting a vacation from the board because of some guy who plays for a team we don't follow.

Do not let your emotions get the best of you in these arguments. Do not make it personal.

On top of all of that if you get out of line you might get a visit from Winicki in his freak em outfit...

It would appear that they feds DID HAVE HIM.

A plea deal was offered, is that standard practice? Are plea deals always offered no matter what?(I wouldnt think so but dont know)

I think that because Vick is NOT the biggest fish in the (illegal dogfighting) pond that they offered a plea. deal He may be the biggest fish in HIS (illegal dogfighting) pond... but that wasnt enough for feds to nail him to the wall.

You're quite right (hey ,wasn't that the band dee snyder played in??). Anyway, I have had the opportunity to work some cases involving very nice people who were "victims of the criminal justice system"....just not for dog fighting. I can say this with an above average degree of certainty: ANYTIME that the federal government chooses to prosecute you, be assured that there ducks are lined up pretty well. There are no secretes in the lawyer games and Vick's team was probably informed of EXACTLY what evidence there was and it was up to him to take what they offered or risk getting both barrels popped on him at once. Again, this has been the case in well over a hundred cases I have been a part of. It really saves both sides alot of undue effort and expense. On the other hand, I have witnessed mid-level dopers buck the plea deals and chance a trial. I have never seen a lost trial from the fed standpoint (sure, they do happen, but very rarely). Attorney costs are usually in the realm of 50K ++ and then the judge (when a guilty verdict is rendered) is very unkind at having to indulge the whole charade, and almost always is much, much more strict in sentencing than the original plea deal offered. For all those who were wondering, hope that sheds some light. I feel safe in saying that Vick didn't have much of a viable option but to take the offer.

i could care less what anyone outside of the NFL feels. Leonard Little plays. Michael Vick will go to jail and the nation's 'justice' will be done.

And see, I'm just the opposite. I care much more about what the real world thinks as opposed to the NFL.

Call me crazy.

Let's get one thing clear here.

It's not "animals" you people are SO butt-hurt over, it's "dogs". Why? Because they are your pets. Because they are your companions. You probably couldn't care less about all the animals being hunted for sport.

Dogs are just "animals" to me, so I don't feel that Vick is THAT much worse than a deer hunter. Or a slaughterhouse that gives us tasty hamburgers (cows are sacred in India, by the way). The strong majority of folks in our society are incredibly stupid... so "you're in the minority" isn't much of an insult. :)

You seem to be confusing morality with the law. Is it moral to shoot birds and deer you have no intention of eating(and i see it every year here in S.Dakota)? I don't think it is moral to kill for sport. But it's legal to shoot deer, birds, and many other animals. But NOT out of season. You can really get hammered up here for poaching. Bottom line, what Vick participated in was not only morally wrong, it was illegal. Drugs, guns and a lot of other things go on in the Dog Fighting world. Not only the animals get hurt, people do as well.

18-36 months is what the prosecution will recommend to the judge correct? But, thats not really set in stone. Can't the judge increase the time to what he feels would be fitting?

I talking about in the context of Vicks future in the NFL. Vick broke federal law so hes going to be punished but as i have stated before i couldnt see him getting much more of a ban than Jones got.

Punching strippers and having your posse shoot two people is worse than dogfighting dont you think?

I would rather right a wrong and not make the same mistakes again.

And I think Vick will have this stink on him forever.

And nobody will take the PR hit for a player who was never that good anyway.

We'll have to revisit things in two years I guess.

Thanks for that... kinda what I thought. Good info. Appreciated.

My sig - No Twisted Sister... LOL... its actually Randy Rhoads. He played with Quiet Riot in the 70's and then joined Ozzy in early 80's for Blizzard and Diary Albums. He died in 83. He was in a small plane that crashed into tour bus.

...let's see.........which one of these thing don't belong with the other?

1) hunting deer which is entirely legal.
2) buying tasty burgers that have come straight from a slaughterhouse which is entirely legal.
3) killing dogs and funding a dogfighting arena both on your property and across state lines making it a federal offense.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Its called an objective outlook. None of us are going to agree on what should be done to Vick so looking at past actions of the league is a good objective indicator.

If you really wnat an idea of what Goodell might do look at Jones. He got a year for repeat offense including a shooting. Do you really think that Vick is that much worse than Jones?
