I don't think having a minority viewpoint necessitates therapy. It would be a bit of a mess if we all agreed.

I agree, but wouldn't it be nice if we could all agree that it is wrong to torture and kill innocent animals.

I think that would be a nice place to live.

I have my own set of morals, and to be honest I don't really care what the law or "society" thinks of my morals.

Would the law stop me from doing certain things even if I thought they were perfectly moral? Yes. Vick is an idiot. He threw away his career on something that wasn't worth doing, no matter what your morals are. Being that it is illegal, the risk was far too strong to even consider running a dog-fighting ring.

My point is that Vick, while he is a colossal idiot, is not much worse as a person than a deer hunter or a cow slaughterer.

A dog are no better than a deer. They're both animals. I couldn't give less of a crap which animal makes the better pet.

We The People don't agree. We The People will put Vick in jail.

Oh, that reminds me, i gotta run. Burger king has a new burger out i wanted to try. I'm buyin..........

Unfortunately thats not where we live and its not even remotely close. Typically the motto is its bad to torture animals if i have to see it.

Hell a lot of us like to go hunting and the only difference between a trophy hunter and a one that will eat his kills is intent. Im sure it makes no difference to the animal.

To those of you who don't quite understand why the majority of us are so appalled about Vick's actions, I suggest that you watch the latest episode of REAL Sports with Bryant Gumbel this week on HBO. They covered dog fighting in a 15 minute segment and all the horrors associated with it. In fact, it will be on today at 4:45 pm est and re-aired again tonight at midnight.

Just something to consider...

I think everyone agrees with that stance.

The issue I see people discussing here is to what degree that principle is enforced, or held in high regard by the masses. Are our pets the only "innocent" animals, so it's right to kill and brutalize other animals - who are apparently guilty of something?

And once someone raises that interesting question, people light their own heads on fire and decide that the one who raised the question supports Michael Vick.

Do you really allow the law to determine your morality? Lets say for example they outlawed eating steak would you suddenly think steak eaters were evil?

Tagline at NFL.com says the plea is for 10-12 Month prison sentence.

http://www.nfl.com/

That report appears to be a bit uninformed. It reports that the term for conspiracy is 5 years and I believe it's 6 as a maximum. It was also reported earlier that terms of the agreement were not disclosed so I don't know how they are getting 10 to 12 months. I guess we will see.

This is the same lawyer who said last month, "we look forward to the opportunity to being able to walk inside this courtroom saying to the world that Michael Vick is innocent."

So much for Vick wanting "to clear his good name."

You know that's what I've taken from this. Michael Vick is a lying *******, no "ifs", "ands" or "buts".

So you have no compassion for a living, breathing, feeling being just because it isn't human?
No... I never said that. If you want to say I'm a monster because I don't care about what the LAW says regarding which animals can be BRUTALLY murdered or slaughtered, and which can't, fine. It's an idiotic argument. The law is basically telling you which animals are better than others, simply because they are more useful to human beings.

Is that "right"? Am I a horribly insensitive person because I feel that animals should be looked upon as equal?

Get off your high-horse. So many of the things you buy and use on a regular basis are products of animal testing. How much hunting (for sport) goes on, on a regular basis, that brutally guns down deer?

If Vick is a monster for dog-fighting, your grand-pappy is a monster for deer hunting.

That's ALL
I'm saying.he doesn't see the difference between illegally killing a dog or dogs and deer hunting or buying burgers from a slaughterhouse - both of which are obviously legal.
Okay. You're right. Explain the difference to me.

I know dog-fighting's illegal and the others are legal. But explain to me why that reflects the MORALS we should all have, regarding these animals.

Explain to me why it's okay for me to go deer-hunting, but I can't buy a dog, set it loose in the woods, and go hunt it down and shoot it.

If I hunt a dog, I'm a MONSTER like Vick... right? I should be hanged, like some of you are suggesting that Vick should be.

I don't care about the legal aspects of it... I'm speaking strictly on the morality aspect. Again, Vick's an idiot for doing what he did.

I'm all ears.
We The People don't agree. We The People will put Vick in jail.

Oh, that reminds me, i gotta run. Burger king has a new burger out i wanted to try. I'm buyin..........
"We the people" is what I'll be wiping myself with later on.

It's illegal for me to blaze some chronic but it's legal to shoot a deer in the face?

Oh, but Mike Vick's a MONSTER for fighting dogs! He must have that evil Hitler gene that only exists in 0.0000001% of the population!
