She was the initial aggressor. She should be charged too.
Yes. You can see it in her facial expressions, raised her fists and then hit him first.
Crowded bar and she wanted the spot in front others.
Both guilty in this instance.

Doesn't matter to.me how he could've responded, she should've kept her hands to herself. Let's not hold him to a standard, she herself couldn't have uphold. They both should be punished, imo.
I agree that a woman who starts a confrontation should be held to the same standard, but in this case he was clearly at fault. They are jostling for position at the bar, a little bumping, she's trying to keep him away, no big deal. (Any guy that physically jostles with a woman to get to the bar is a big time a$$hole - just let 'er have it dude).

The first move that truly counts as assault comes when he grabs her arm and holds on. Her little knee/kick and "punch" (I am using the word "punch" generously) is in trying to get him to let go of her. Then he clocks her in the face.

Oh and I don't buy the "she was using racial slurs" nonsense excuse (that came out this late) for a single second.

From my view, I saw that she got in front of her and looked like she said something to him after he bumped her which happens routinely at the counter. She turned around and again and instantly balling her fist. I guess he saw that as a threat. He grasped her arm to stop her from thinking about punching him . She then let out a punch with her other arm and that's when it went downhill from there. Yeah, he shouldn't have done what he did. But she's not innocent in this at all.

Umm...no? Dude is entirely to blame for this incident. He initiated the confrontation by attempting to muscle his way to the bar and then escalated the situation by grabbing her arm when she protested.

Not really, when she raised her fist, she became the initiator and a threat. Him grabbing her fist is not at all what escalated this, which is why both should be charged

There's no way that counts as assault when there is video of her balling her fist up at him, if it was alleged, I can see it being disregarded, but she clearly was threatening him.

There was jostling, but there was room for them both. She tried to keep him away from the bar after there first jostle for some reason. Then she raised her fist to hit him, he grabbed her arm which i'm totally fine with. She then hits him with her left and he responds with entirely too much force. I would not have put my self in that situation, even at 19 you just let her have the spot. That being said I can't stand someone to play the victim after being at the minimum 50% of the escalation.

completely different situation... I remember once in high school a couple of friends of mine one guy one girl got in an argument and she slapped him and he slapped the hell out of her right back. Funniest thing I'd ever seen. The look on her face was priceless, I'd have never done it, but I gotta say i enjoyed it. It all ended well and 25 years later we are all still friends.

His attorney says she kicked him in the groin area before e punched her.

You didn't see her ball her fist up prior to him grabbing her?

Lots of people are missing that for some reason.

interesting. Can't see that on the video. Btw, I meant she got in front of him. He was trying to maneuver his way to the bar and bumped her. That happens at all bars that I've been to. Guess she got mad about it.

Dude, how is she not charged? That makes 0 sense.

I went to a D1 school and the bars are PACKED. I mean, if you go to the bar/restroom you're going to jostle and get jostled just standing around. That's just a fact.

I'm not for dudes hitting chicks at all, but she instigated the whole thing. Yeah, he should have kept a cool head, but you don't know how someone's going to react when you literally throw a knee and punch them in the mouth. A young guy who's probably not ever gotten hit in the mouth by many people other than his mama lost his cool, that's...expected.

She should have been absolutely charged with assault and battery, and the fact that she isn't is pretty disgraceful. You shouldn't be given leniency and not be subjected to the same laws because you have boobs. That's stupid.

You call that "balling a fist up"? Seriously? Her "fist" is next to her ear with her thumb sticking out.

The professional-caliber athlete had no reason to feel he was in any danger and, as such, had no right to just grab her arm without letting go. The physical confrontation was initiated by him, and he refused to let go when she clearly wanted him to.

Personally I think the guy should do some time in jail, but for some reason people on this board are very sympathetic to men who punch women.

They should both be put in time out for behaving like children. Pretty sure the 5 foot spot of open bar space can accommodate the both of them.

They're both dumb.

That is exactly what she did. Never said she was an expert fighter, either way her intent to hit him was clear

yea, he definitely crossed the line and deserves everything he is getting, but how can anyone believe that she was not the aggressor.

Because she wasn't? If dude doesn't try to muscle past her to the bar none of this would have taken place.

have you ever been to a bar? because that is literally something that happens all the time when you are at the bar. people at the bar dont move so they can keep their spot and everyone else "muscles in" to order drinks.

there was no reason for her to react the way she did. he didn't shove her or move her. and when she raised her fist, she escalated it to a level that he did not. he was definately within his rights to grab her fist, instead of standing there waiting to get punched.

he didn't cross the line until he punched her, she wasn't enough of a threat given to retaliate. and this my opinion on the morality of what he did. legally there's no way he'll be found guilty
