I don't believe so.

To me it was an obvious choice. I'll give them credit for actually going through with it but the decision was a no brainer.

I don't even follow the logic.

Hey, now that we had to release our best defensive player, who may easily have some productive years left, because we mismanaged our cap, are you feeling better about the organization?

Because I am.

Go Cowboys!

super bowl these guys cant even figure out how to win a game to get into the play offs.

So true unfortunately. They can't even get into the playoffs much less say they are SB contending. All teams have to think they are I suppose but seriously does anyone see this team in the SB next season?

The guys on the fan are saying ware was willing to take paycut to 7 mill. I guess we just wanted to move on .

Mistake if that's true.

If you're not going to blow it up and rebuild, which is my preference, then you retain Ware for now. You don't just throw away a guy who gets double digit sacks in his sleep. One year doesn't define him.

In my opinion, it is much harder to build a OLine than a dline. Especially a Tampa-2 dline, where the only thing asked of the dlineman is to chase the qb. With some luck, it can be done in one offseason.

I disagree. We need a pass rushing DE--which is a premium hard to find position and a pass rushing 3T which is also difficult to find. The skill players we need on the DL comes at a much greater cost (high picks, big FA) than those on the OL--especially our type of OL.

Matters are worse when you pick in the middle of the round and the top pass rushers are already taken. Its easy to find role players, sure, but you need starters before you can go about getting specialists. And we have maybe one starter ATM

Certainly looks on its face like Dallas decided to rebuild a year too late.

This team is not very talented right now and losing their best 3 DL is not going to make that any better.
The draft will bring us hope for the future but we won't be better than Hatcher, Ware, Spencer for YEARS.

This is one way to get off the 8-8 train though. That is for sure.

Not happening...he and Jerry just ended it nice.

He most likely will sign for less like we wanted him to...for a contender. If he has to play for less than desired this year, he wants a realistic shot at a ring. Hes gone...

Anytime a player can hurt your QB, you don't want any part of him.
And Ware was destroying Tyron Smith last training camp.
Don't wanna see that in a real game with Romo the recipient of the kill shots.

Don't want to see ware in the east playing with a chip on his shoulder but your post got me trying to remember.....in all of his sacks, did ware ever knock a qb out of the game? I'm sure it happened but I don't recall it....

I guess the mantra right now is it's easy to replace an elite edge rusher. They'll talk about last year, but the fact is the Cowboys need to find another Ware. That's far from easy.

There is no scenario this offseason that would allow Dallas to trot out a quality defense next year. This is a multiple year deal. With our talent evaluators, it could be much longer than that.

Extremely well said, Risen.

If Ware was willing to take such a pay cut then I don't see the logic in releasing him at. IMHO this move is starting to look more mutual in that Ware wanted to test FA and possibly land on a team that has a chance to win a SB and Jerry wanted to make room for his new pet project Henry Melton.

With the likely departures of Ware, Hatcher and Spencer, how can the team possibly rebuild the defensive line sufficiently in the year or two that Romo has left in the window where he can win a championship?
This is what Jerry and Stephen, and some of you just don't get.THERE IS NO ROMO WINDOW! and there never was. he is not that good. and he never has been that good. so stop it. only a fool like Jerry would pay him like he has won something.

Vick and Rodgers are biggest names. He surely had more.

My issue with that is, who is Demarcus Ware now?

Putting on that weight to play DE literally destroyed his body last year. He can't carry it. Losing it to play OLB is fine, but he can't cover anyone anymore. And he lacks the quickness to get around the end he once had.

Today, Ware is a less productive version of George Selvie. Nothing more. Father Time got him early.

IF that happens...I will be rooting for Denver to win it all (if Dallas is out of it).
