Didn't the Broncos sign Byrd? How are they affording this?
Saints signed bird but the broncos have got ward and talib for the d.
Didn't the Broncos sign Byrd? How are they affording this?
My issue with that is, who is Demarcus Ware now?
Putting on that weight to play DE literally destroyed his body last year. He can't carry it. Losing it to play OLB is fine, but he can't cover anyone anymore. And he lacks the quickness to get around the end he once had.
Today, Ware is a less productive version of George Selvie. Nothing more. Father Time got him early.
With the likely departures of Ware, Hatcher and Spencer, how can the team possibly rebuild the defensive line sufficiently in the year or two that Romo has left in the window where he can win a championship?
So when the Cowboys cut loyal ties, it is due to cap mismanagement, but when the Patriots do it to players like Richard Seymour, we applaud their genius moves?
I get it now.
It takes two to tango. Jerry offered the sweet contract and Ware didn't refuse.
I'd respect this a lot more, Mike, if you told us before the release that the organization needed to change.
Otherwise this is just your usual cheerleader self.
This thread is comical.
Last year, Dallas had the worst defensive pass rush in the NFL with Ware and Hatcher on it.
Ware was the biggest problem. He was gawd awful. Didn't do a thing, ever. George Selvie was the pass rush star of the team. Hatcher is infinitely replaceable. He looked good mostly because the others stunk. Somebody has to make a play here and there.
I would sign Melton and Hatcher if the prices are right, draft a DE and DT in the first two rounds if the players there are worthy, and mix Crawford, Selvie, Hayden, and Bass into the fold. See what that gets them, and move forward.
It can't possibly be a worse defensive line than last year.
The guys on the fan are saying ware was willing to take paycut to 7 mill. I guess we just wanted to move on .
I vote solidly "Yes".
Uh yeah it can.
Yes it does........betting $10 on a 50/50 is one thing. Calling a guy in poker for $10 when your already in the pot for $100 is completely different
We'll see.
Did the Organization change for the better when we cut Emmitt?
So when you were arguing that Ware's divorce would help keep him here... You were saying that was a bad thing? Didn't seem like it.
Mistake if that's true.
If you're not going to blow it up and rebuild, which is my preference, then you retain Ware for now. You don't just throw away a guy who gets double digit sacks in his sleep. One year doesn't define him.
That's the big question, did Ware refuse to negotiate a pay cut or did the Cowboys just want to move on?
We can't.
Simple as that.
Romo's contract is looking dumber and dumber everyday.
Fire sale is so maddenesque. While the thought makes sense in a vacuum it isn't a realistic option in real life. First and foremost is that it isn't fair to the players left on the team who have worked all their lives to be part of a team trying to reach the Superbowl. Nor is it fair to fans who are paying for tickets and paying high cable prices.... much of which is going to pay for NFL contracts.
I think it's both. Perhaps Dallas really low-balled him knowing he wouldn't accept it.
