Was Romo's Career "Wasted"?

Every one of us would die to do what Romo did. He played for over a decade as one of the best QBs in Cowboys history, made over $100,000,000, & married a 10. I would love to "waste" my career that way.

Tony didn't waste his talents-Jerry did. He never had a top ten O-line & a top five defense at the same time. The running games during his career were hit & miss. One thing he did, which was partially his fault, was to put too much on his own shoulders. He was SO desperate to win, he ultimately made killer mistakes. He was a much better QB than Phil Simms, Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, etc. He just didn't have their defenses.

I will address nonsense. Deal with it. Take your above statement and use some introspection.
Nonsense? If the team that loses a game is ELIMINATED from the playoffs, it's a ******* elimination game. Just because you have this desperate need to feel smarter than a bunch interweb strangers, it shouldn't cloud your brain from basic concepts. Are you next going to tell me that the first game of the season is at home is NOT a home-opener? Is that also a media made up concept?

Nonsense? If the team that loses a game is ELIMINATED from the playoffs, it's a goddamnn elimination game. Just because you have this desperate need to feel smarter than a bunch interweb strangers, it shouldn't cloud your brain from basic concepts. Are you next going to tell me that the first game of the season is NOT a home-opener? Is that also a media made up concept? Quit being stupid.

You left out the part about categorization. Insisting on the category is not very compelling just doubling down on it.

If you insist on the statistic then let's talk about that. Statistically speaking, every loss of a season counts towards the elimination equally. The season is a a set of 16 games all weighted equally. Waving your hands at one and calling it a special name is not going to change that.

This category was dreamt up in marketing hype and then spammed in order to create controversy on sports radio. You apparently ate it up.

And what specifically, did I write that was me "trying to feel smarter than internet strangers?"

If you must know, I have enough self esteem that I think I am smart inherently and independent of you. As for you and other internet peoples, unless you are "special" it is hard to gauge what one's intelligence level is and for the lion's share I don't even try.

What you remind me of are women that get mad when they see attractive women around them and their competitive nature has them telling anyone who will listen that the competition is not that attractive. And of course if you are dating them, you will catch hell if you are not careful.

I don't engage in such relativism but I do understand it. There is more than enough intellect and beauty for us all. I just think this particular take of "elimination games" is emotionally baiting nonsense and I am certainly not above making stupid comments myself; just not in this case. You are just going to have to deal with it.

06' seattle snap......should not have been the holder after becoming starting qb. there were other disaster plays too.
07' poor game vs NYG..........JG was OC !
08' shellacking at philly..........JG was OC !
09' 3 TOS in first half against minny..........JG was OC !
12' finale 3 int game vs WAS..........JG was OC ! and HC

He played a hand in each of those season ending losses.

Then you factor in he wasn't even available in

10'
13' finale win and in game..........JG was OC ! and HC
2014..........JG was HC and semi OC
hmmmm could JG have been a factor in all those losses?
I will add that in all or most of those games Dallas had no players or group of players step up and have great game.
usually teams that win big games or have SB run have the players step up, not just the QB, but other players too.
Also coaching and game plans, play calling are a big factor.

Yeah, he wasted the team's time with a decade of blowing it in the biggest games. So glad that that waste of oxygen is gone.

Romos career wasted, hell no...
He got to go to Cabo with Jessica right before a critical game, and he was able to practice his golf game his entire career while getting Jerry pay...
That's called cashing in playboy style,, he jacked Jerry hardcore,,, good on Romo.. bad on Jerry supporting the lifestyle.

I don't think so. He was a no name from Eastern Illinois who ended up being the QB of the Dallas Cowboys, broke records, it's a shame he didn't get a ring, but I don't think that's all on him. I'm proud, happy, whatever that he was on our team. He won us a lot of games folks, playoffs or not. Basically we'd be 6-10 the last ten years without him, thank God for Dak.

Garrett was unprepared for a home playoff rematch against a team that had lost to us earlier in the season.

Jerry and Jason wasted Tony's potential, full stop.

To me Tony Romo and Don Mattingly are the same person...

Each was a supremely talented player for a storied franchise that hit a dry spell.

Each put up terrific numbers but could never get their teams into a championship game.

Each had careers that were cut short by injury.

Mattingly hasn't made the HOF and likely will not due to his short career and lack of championships.

Tony Romo will probably be in the same boat.

When Dan Fouts retired he ranked 2nd in career Passing Yards and led the league 4 times.
He also ranked 4th in career Passing TD and led the league twice.

Historically these are the categories that got QBs into the HOF. Certainly winning in the playoffs and winning SBs helps too.

And Romo is the 3rd highest rated passer of all time, 6th all time in yards per attempt and consistently top 5 in just about every category in his era every year.

I think if Fouts is in, Romo should be as well.

Plus he won what many consider the be the greatest playoff game ever played.

Many remember that.
