We are stuck in purgatory at this point with Dak

What I said is not really all that different. Dak cost us the win. If you want to play the semantics game over what I said, have at it. Just know that when people do this, it shows they really can't argue on the merits, they just have to try to find somethinig else they think helps their argument.

At the end of the day, you are a big Dak supporter who is really struggling with what went down on Sunday and the justified criticism he's taking in the aftermath of the game. I get it. When you've invested so much into a player and yo've argued about how great he is and he just fails in a big spot, it's tough to swallow.
You're now making things up again. This is what you do. The World according to Sydla. No one is arguing semantics but you.

You said what you said and have just doubled down. You think you can twist my words for that big "gotcha" moment, but then you come away with pathetic lies like I'm invested in Dak? Lol.
We have the lamest fans. I just got done explaining the criticism I distribute and you walk away from it. I would too though.

You don't understand how football works on a complex, team level but want to take digs arguing merits? You've literally brought nothing to the table but emotional responses and repeating "Its all Daks fault."
I'm a big Dallas supporter, you're just not in full possesion of the facts to dispute that, so another "Dak supporter" comment is really all you have.

You can deny it was anyone but Dak, but you're still wrong and you have nothing to back it up.
I cannot wait for the next punching bag!

Says who what? Dak's contract only became an issue last year. That was the first year it was a massive cap number, so what are you babbling about me saying his contract had been strapping us for years? Once again, CowboyRoy makes something up.

They currently sit at around $2 million in cap space per Spotrac. Dak's restructure likely gets them around $25-30 million in total space. They are likely going to have to restructure some other guys which isn't ideal but it is what it is.

But they have other needs than just getting some WRs and TBs in here. They are going to have to figure out the CB spot opposite Diggs as Brown is a FA. Bland might shift out there but then you need a slot CB most likely. LVE is a FA so you are going to need LB help. DT is going to likely need an overhaul. Hankins was likely your best DT by year end and he's a FA.

On offense, Steele is a RFA so he's not even included in the cap calculation. Schultz is a FA and they probably have to let him walk because he's too expensive. Pollard is a FA. You are likely going to need interior OL help as both McGovern and Biadasz aren't exactly playing at a high level. They need help at WR. They need depth along the OL.

Elliott should be cut. But he only saves $5 million in cap space. If you make him a June 1 cut, it's $10 million but you can't use that $10 million savings until June 1. By then, it's largely bargain bin guys left in FA save for a few stragglers holding out that don't want to go to a full camp.

This team has a lot of needs this offseason and will be cap strapped to an extent when you look at all the holes. The draft can only do so much and on top of that it's no guarantee those guys can contribute right away. For example, you were one of the ones whining about people complaining about the WR and kept talking about how Tolbert would fill in that 3 spot and help. How'd that turn out?
Bland will be the outside CB. They need slot guy although I love getting Muka in there at slot.

We have some work to do, but nothing like last year with the FA's. Biadasz took the next step no question. The line crumbled without him. Great year for FA back and we can get one cheap. I though Steele was signed or a RFA. Shultz they have to resign. I would get out of Gallup if they can.

Says who? You have been telling us about Dak's contract strapping the team for years and we keep getting better.

Getting rid of Zeke alone will help the offense. Taking a WR and RB in rounds 2 and 3 wont cost much.
Here's what Spotrac says:

STATUS: TREADING LIGHTLY?

Dak Prescott enters Year 3 of his 4 year, $160M contract, including $31M fully guaranteed next season. His cap figure skyrockets to $49.1M for 2023, putting the Cowboys in another difficult financial position. Dallas has already restructured the Prescott deal twice, piling up future cap hits and dead cap counts. Converting $26M of his next year salary into signing bonus can free up over $20M of cap space, but it means $60M of dead cap now tied to a non-guaranteed 2024 season - and $37.4M of dead cap tied to a voidable 2025.

We’ll know a lot about the Cowboys’ confidence in Dak by mid-April. If Dallas goes light (or not at all) on restructuring the 2023 cap hit, it’s a sign that they have reservations about his long term status.

The convertible portion of his salary is 31 million.

So that would be 18 million base salary from previous bonuses as a starting point for his next years salary divided by years remaining and the amount converted of the remaining base salary.
That might all be true, but at present his cap hit is 49 mil for next year.

Here's what Spotrac says:
What's your point? You Dak haters have told us since before his resigning that his salary would kill us. This is the first year it has even been an issue. And once again your crying about something that hasnt happened yet. How about we wait until we see what they do before we complain about it?

Here's what Spotrac says:
I fully expect to hear “Daks our guy.”

Because they think it helps both him and them to proclaim that.

They have literally NO idea what they are doing and I’m actually not even sure how it isn’t worse. Probably McClay.

I’d honestly rather go back to 2000 type of results and maybe eventually change will happen than this ridiculous treadmill of mediocrity.

The devil is in the detail.

Lawrence played very well against the Chiefs despite the o line giving him little protection throughout. He threw a perfect deep pass that was dropped around the 5 yard line and a running back coughed up the ball on the 2 yard line. The interception was thrown with pressure right in his grill and in reality the damage had been done by then. Allen underperformed but he is the Bills' running game and again he suffered bad drops and terrible o line play in the snow. He has a bit of credit in the locker from how well he played against the Chiefs in the play offs last season. Any sort of defense and they head to the Superbowl.

The Cowboys' o line played as well as could be expected against a strong defense. The issue wasn't them but inaccurate throws and brainless decision making by Prescott.

Prescott was embarrassingly bad and that's why he is being rightly cained from all quarters.
Lol, this is hilarious.

LOL, the only guy trying to play gotcha with words is you trying to split hairs over me saying Dak is to blame, Dak cost us, etc. Everyone gets the point I am making - Dak cost us the W. He played very poorly. If he just has an average game and everything stays the same, we likely win.

Football only becomes complicated when fans set out to try to shift blame and responsibility from their favorite player(s) who struggled. Now true, sometimes a loss is attributable to a bunch of groups/coaches/etc. The Commanders game is an example. That was a team loss. Pretty much everyone stunk. Trying to pin blame on one or a few would be meaningless and pointless there - the team was just a turd that day from coaches through most of the players.

But Sunday? There was a clear issue - the QB play. Yes, we can say player Y should have done this on that play or Player X screwed that up or Player D had a awful penalty there or coach Z made a dumb call. But at the end of they day, the one issue that was consistent throughout the game was QB play. It just was really, really bad. And we aren't talking about one of those QB games where WRs or TEs or RBs let him down. Like a guy ran the wrong route or a ball bounced off his helmet for an interception. Dak was just bad. And pretty much consistently bad throughout the entire game. It's just disingenuous to then start saying the defense failed in it's job or this player failed when there was one guy who was so much worse than anyone else but was actually expected to be one of our better players, especially coming off such a great performance the week before.

Its been building up with these guys. With the cowboys mild success the last 2 years and Dak going off last week they have been hiding alot. Waiting for that one bad game in the playoffs to come around. If we had lost in the SB they would be saying the same thing.

Despite the notion that I am a Dak hater who wanted him gone years ago, I've never thought he was a terrible QB or he needed to be shot to the sun. I think for some fans it's tough to admit he might not be the guy because deep down you know how hard it is to find a franchise QB. You wanted Dak to be the guy, frankly, we needed Dak to be the guy.

But as the seasons come and go, it becomes a little bit clearer he's unlikely to be a championship caliber QB. The alternative is trying to find that next guy. No, it's not Rush. No, it's not Grier. It's some kid slinging balls in college or even high school at this point. Frankly, it could take years to find that guy after Dak is no longer our QB.

And that just sucks. Accepting the reality that Dak is likely not the guy means that we may have to experience sheer pain in trying to find the next guy. We lucked out that Dak turned out to be as good as he was being a later round pick. That happens quite infrequently. It's not a recipe for success that we should follow. However, just picking QBs in the first and second rounds doesn't guarantee immediate success either.

Contract wise Dak is here for a few more years. But his contract largely precludes the Cowboys from going out and bringing in proven playmakers in FA to give Dak enough to get him closer to succeeding. The draft is a crap shoot, and despite our successes in drafting, we have some failures too.

All this just adds up to purgatory. We are stuck. Stuck between sucking and being elite. Stuck between not making the playoff and getting bounced before a champ game. Stuck between dominating the NFC East and finishing back in the pack. It just sucks.
i am not sure how dak will survive this offseason its really going to be mentally tough to come out of it with confidence next year that text from the blog was a bad look if he comes back and playes really well will be a true testament to his mental make up this off season is going to be really ugly not only for dak but for the front office and coaches and the whole team its going to be brutal

Yeah because at the end of the day, he played worse than just about every other player. And when a QB is the guy that plays the worst, given he's the most important position on the field, the loss falls heavily on his shoulders. Again, if he doesn't make two terrible decisions on those interceptions, we probably win.
That's the nature of the QB position. They, moreso than any other player, can affect an outcome of a game because a significant portion of a game runs through them. Especially when it's a QB like Dak that the team has faith in and will put the game on his arm. If they struggle, and in this case, Dak really, really struggled, the brunt of the loss is going to fall on their shoulders. Buffalo fans are pretty criticial of Allen this week after his poor performance.

Lay that to rest unless you are going to complain that Dallas didn't do a better job of building the team around Dak and Elliott when they were on their rookie contracts with "money to get better" as they like to claim. That's the nucleus of the issues. The owner cannot take advantage of open windows, then they close and it's too late.
They ignored the RB position for a couple of years knowing that Elliott is worn. They didn't bring in any WRs to help. And never have taken a legit hard look at DT.

They can win despite his salary. They are ahead big time on Parsons rookie deal so that alone should even it out.

They just need to stop thinking that since Prescott is paid like an elite QB that they have to put so much on him. They need to reel him in and focus on becoming a running team with a great defense.

They are damn close to that and it’s entirely possible that change could happen over one off season, but I doubt that’s Jerry’s line of thinking. He wants to win, but also his way, which includes offensive stars and forced ROI on the decisions he has made.

And honestly, he is in way over his head with trying to be GM at age 80 and it has to end. The kid may not be any better but there’s at least hope he will change some things, or be forced to deal with ridicule that his old man would let bead off him…or get people fired over if it was too true.

I've been hiding a lot?

If Dak threw for 300 yards and 3 TDs and had a rating of 114 Sunday and we lost? I would most certainly not blame Dak. Because in that case, there would be a clear issue - the defense just got beat up.

Like there was a clear issue here - the QB just sucked Sunday.

And let's be clear here. I praised Dak for his game last week. I said in multiple threads if that's the Dak they get the rest of the playoffs, they absolutely can make a run here. But I also said the problem is that you just don't know which Dak you are going to get game to game. That has been proven over this season where he's looked great one week and then terrible another. We saw that in the last month and a half. His performances were all over the map.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, he wasn't able to carry over from the Tampa game, instead just continued his up and down play.
