For most of last night, Owens was single covered by freaking Fred Thomas and couldn't get open.

He ain't all that.

Period.

But he's not why we lost the game-far from it. I should think folks would be more concerned today about the D than Owens getting his force feeding.

According to Babe Laufenberg on GAC this evening, T.O. got behind the defense on 3 separate occassions but didnt get the ball.

For all you people saying Owens is used goods and washed up, just imagine him on the New Orleans Saints.

A team that has creativity on offense and knows how to get it's playmakers involved.

They made Fred "Freakin" Karney look like a Pro Bowler.

Of all the teams that Owens has been on, the Cowboys are the only team that allows the opposition to take him out of the game so easily.

He was ballin with S.F. and Philly.

The TO bashers are going to spin this and say he doesn't get the ball because he drops it so much...

No, he didn't get the ball because Romo had Saints in his face all night.

For all the Saints creativity and blah blah the things they do have which we don't is a solid offensive line, and a pass rush on defense.

Not at all. Romo did not have a good game and should have looked to TO on the one on ones. Hopefully Romo will bounce back this weekend aginst Alt and hopefully TO will be a big part of it. There are many things I don't like about TO, however I do not want to see him fail nor do I take any pleasure when he has failed to do the job.

For all the TO-drops-the ball or TO-gets-his-opps posters.... Imagine if Sean had TO... TO would probably have 15 TD's 100 catches already and 1,200 yards.... he would make him the star WR he is... AND STILL keep the offense balanced

I could make the argument that TO would have those numbers here too if we had Drew Brees for 13 games instead of Bledsoe for 6.5 and a first year guy for 6.5.

I think the Offense philosophy is sticking to what they have, We see no flea flickers no option passes, Maybe this is due to Romo's arm strength, I'm not sure but I don't see why we cant get Owens across the line of scrimmage for 5 yard pass and let him run, like Jerry Rice used to do to us, Whatever it is use him as a decoy,
There not taking advantage of him,

Good point. But obvious. Drew can QB better than Romo.

My point is: Payton utilizing TO would be more successful than what we are doing.

TO has stats that look good... but like I said.... its like Mark Brunell completing 20 passes in a row that were just about all 5 yarders...looks good stats-wise... but thats it... not REAL production

The extent to which we allow TO to break a tackle for a long gain is passes to him at the sidelines, where you have only one side to work with.... you effectively counteract what TO does so well when in the open field... seriously... how many times have you seen Dallas call a pass to TO for a widfe-receiver screen... too many... why not run a quick slant over the middle instead of wasting time on such a dangerous pass anyways?

As long as we just "use" TO once in a while... we will come up short this season.

The guy IS a playmaker. We dont give him enough chances per game/ enough playmaking opps.

Its sad really.. he IS a go to guy and we... well... we dont go to him. YEah.... I know... he come some arbitrary stats showing how is SOOOOO targeted.... WHEN has he exploded here in Dallas? When? just about never... in Philly.... hmmph!

Dallas has done that with TO and on a few occations he has pulled up and not ran through the ball. Dallas has lined him up in the slot and we have put him in motion. TO has to adjust the the Cowboys system and get the job done.

YoMick put it right on the money when he said it seems as if they are just feeding TO the ball to keep him happy, instead of utilizing him properly. He then brought up the reference to him catching a TD against the Saints and not spiking the ball, looking extremely frustrated and mad as hell, but he didn't do anything... He was going to spike it, but he stopped and just tossed the football... The pass was a FORCED THROW anyways... I'm sure he wasn't even the first or second target...

Here is a guy who is trying to keep his mouth shut, and not explode, and wanting to win, yet they are effectively taking him out of the game... He knows the media is looking at him, and he is boxed in...

I'm beginning to not like Parcells again... We saw his stubborn-ness when he refused to bench Vinny, despite not even being close to making the play-offs... Parcells wants his players, and he wants to do it only his way... he is an ego-maniac... heck, he's not even using Roy Williams properly because it would go against his vaniall scheme... this is the year 2006... It is not the mid-80s... People have adapted...

It works both ways. The system has to be adjusted for his strengths. If something doesnt work the first time... you keep trying... especially if its a play that he can explode with.

If TO is not back next year(I think he will though) then his time in Dallas will be considered a failure.... and while it will be some of his fault... it will be more on Dallas and how they used him.... or..... how they didnt use him

I just want to point out that last night I saw Torry holt run the exact same route, then dive and take the hit and make a big drive sustaining catch, that I saw owens alligator arm and duck and never even make contact with the ball.

Holt went and got it and owens ducked and got out of the way. Pretty sorry.

Exact same play. Against the same cover 2 defense.

True

But what is even sorrier is only putting up 17 points when you have Witten, Glenn, Owens, III/Jones combo and an opponent that struggles against the run.

That's sorry

Well yeah... this goes back to the interview.... he said "he feels like he is going through the motions on the field, faking it" WELL all I know is if you brought me in to your company and my strength was accounting and cost cutting and you had me on the sales floor selling shoes - I would be pissed and not happy

not the greatest analogy... but I think it gets point across...

Its ironic... they said Bill and TO wouldnt work... who knew that it would be not using TO correctly... even I thought that Bill saw TO as a major part of getting back to SB.... guess not

There is a term called 'rhythm'...

Torry Holt is not used primarily as a decoy, whose thrown too once in awhile just to keep him happy... Holt is a staple of the offense...

You want TO to produce, you throw him the damn ball EARLY so he gets fired up... I'm sure TO is not that dumb, and he realizes his 'role' in the offense...

Ok... I saw Rex hit his WR on a sweet pass that he scored a TD and ran right through the defense(dont know WR or play type, someone help me out :)) but it was sweet and had TO's name written all over it... it was quick and WR was quick and most importantly - IT WAS FOR 7
