Well all you "run run run" posters

Running the ball takes time off the clock.

Last week, we ran 14 times, and the Packers had the ball for 35:58.

Today we ran 33 times, and the Skins had the ball for 28:34.

Give the Skins the ball for another 7:24 and they win this game.

And it wasn't because the defense played better today. The Packers gained 4.2 yards per offensive play, and today the Skins gained 5.6. It wasn't because of the Skins' mistakes either. They missed a couple of FG's and turned it over once. The Packers missed 1 FG and turned it over 3 times.

We won this game because we played great defense, and we ran the ball.

Very good point. Note how gassed the Commanders D was on that last drive and compare to how gassed ours was down the stretch against the Pack.

Um, did you notice that we couldn't pass for like the first 55 minutes of the game? As in no completions to a wideout for the first three quarters and beyond? And that it took a Houdini-like play from Tony to even win the game?

Running the ball controls the clock and keeps the defense fresh. The run sets up the pass! No one is saying to run the ball 40 times a game. Of course you have to pass the ball.

what do you have to say for yourselves today?

We won so that is all that matters to me but damn we will win by the pass. Running 2/3 of the time will not get it done. On the last drive we threw every down and won the game.

Need to run to keep them honest but we will win or lose in the air.

Best part of this team though is that this year we are winning games when we play badly unlike the last couple of years when we would have lost today.

we were moving the ball at will on the ground...our drives didnt stall until we started passing. Romo was high or behind on most of his passes until the final drive. meanwhile, Barber and Jones were gashing the Skins D for about 4-5 yds a carry. Other than the Barber fumble, our running game was lights out. I just want balance. If we have 60 offensive plays....give me 30 passes, 30 rushes.

The beef most of us had with the GB game was the passing game wasnt working. The GB D was teeing off on Romo. The game was basically a shutout and we only ran it 11 times. That is inexcusable. IMO, we should have run it at least 25-30 times that game. I feel we would have been far more successful if we had.

They played good enough to win today.I wouldn't say they were great when they alllowed Washington to convert 46% (7/15)of their third downs.Five of those conversions were from third and five or longer.

It's not about time of possession. It's about scoring points.

Which your opponent can't do if it doesn't have the ball.

Running all the time if you don't score does nothing but take time away from yourself.

At least NBC, ESPN etc will now have a few days to rip on us for not being a good team.

Unless you keep the ball for 60 minutes, they will have their chances.

like i stated, the running game was working.......it was the passing game that was killing our mojo, until that final drive.

You give them fewer chances when you keep them off the field, though.

You be happy with 7 points.

I'm not.

This Washington team is a mess.

I'm happy we didn't give them 7 extra minutes. Who said anything about being happy with 7 points?

I predicted this thread in the chat.

That theory is all fine and good if you're playing a high octane offense. When you're playing a team that has a mediocre offense at best that philosophy plays into the oppositions hands.

just find some balance! it's like a bunch of little kids running this team. oh, i'll show you! now we'll run 2/3 of the time! how do you like that jerry?!
good god, this is still the most dysfunctional team in the nfl.

cause we went away from the successful running game and went to the unsuccessful passing game
