I hear you.
I just think for his health, and this team, he needs to hang it up.
I disagree, Frozen (respectfully). If we had a solid QB in the wings then I think the position should at least be a competition. If we were sitting like Packers were when Favre was at the end of his careers, then yes. We are not there and probably won't be even if we draft a guy high this season. Tony Romo can still play some pretty damn solid football, bro. People can hate all they want (and, no I'm not calling you a hater) but, for now, Tony Romo IS this football team. He's got a huge contract and a desire like no other to win. We can't eat the contract and makes no sense to trade or cut him without a solid backup plan in place. Lest I remind you of the void at that position between Aikman and Romo. You don't just change for the sake of change unless you're into the Cleveland Browns roadmap to success. They are the perfect example of what your franchise looks like without a QB. We actually HAVE a QB.
One more thing: Look at all the QBs in this championship weekend. The only one younger than Romo is Newton. Romo IS a championship caliber QB and he's absolutely capable of being exactly where these QBs are next season. He needs help just like these guys do. Cam ain't doing this all by himself. He's got a hell of a defense. Ditto for Manning, Brady, and Palmer.
Address the future of the QB position? You bet, and NOW. But cut ties with Romo just for the sake of it? Franchise suicide and minimum 5 to 10 year set back.
