Thanks for making my point.
Thanks for identifying yourself.
Thanks for making my point.
No, by all means, speak up. I prefer that the dumb ones identify themselves.
(Vinnie noted)
Good news.
Remember when Dr. Jerry Jones saw the X-rays and said it was not necessary?
Good times.
I agree Doc and it's troubling. No way is Tony making the calls on this - the staff should've been recommending it and they didn't and the only reason I can see is that on the one in a million chance we made the playoffs he could've played. It just seemed like a no brainer after the second fracture and third overall.
Can you please give us some insight as to this procedure. Will it strengthen the entire area to the point of prior to the first fracture or is it a stop gap to reinforce an area that has been traumatized twice in a year?

So that's how you get Tony Romo's name on a conference championship day... Ohhhhhhhh...
Putting a plate.... It will just break in a different spot. Weakest link.
How would you say strength will compare to normal (if he had not injured it at all). Same, 80% etc...thanks in advance Doc50
I hear you.
I just think for his health, and this team, he needs to hang it up.
Good news.

I disagree, Frozen (respectfully). If we had a solid QB in the wings then I think the position should at least be a competition. If we were sitting like Packers were when Favre was at the end of his careers, then yes. We are not there and probably won't be even if we draft a guy high this season. Tony Romo can still play some pretty damn solid football, bro. People can hate all they want (and, no I'm not calling you a hater) but, for now, Tony Romo IS this football team. He's got a huge contract and a desire like no other to win. We can't eat the contract and makes no sense to trade or cut him without a solid backup plan in place. Lest I remind you of the void at that position between Aikman and Romo. You don't just change for the sake of change unless you're into the Cleveland Browns roadmap to success. They are the perfect example of what your franchise looks like without a QB. We actually HAVE a QB.
One more thing: Look at all the QBs in this championship weekend. The only one younger than Romo is Newton. Romo IS a championship caliber QB and he's absolutely capable of being exactly where these QBs are next season. He needs help just like these guys do. Cam ain't doing this all by himself. He's got a hell of a defense. Ditto for Manning, Brady, and Palmer.
Address the future of the QB position? You bet, and NOW. But cut ties with Romo just for the sake of it? Franchise suicide and minimum 5 to 10 year set back.

I mean, I hear you.
Trust me I use to be the same way, hold onto Romo because we don't know what the future holds, and maybe just maybe we can get to the promise land.
How long do you hold onto him, until you realize he's not the awnser?
I just don't want us to be one of those teams that hold on, just to hold on.
We will see though.
I think the answer is 3 fold, actually.
I think you hold on to him until:
A.) He proves he ISN'T the answer (which he hasn't done, IMHO)
B.) You can afford to eat the remainder of his signing bonus
C.) You have a viable option besides him.
Right now, I don't think you can honestly say, with any honest conviction, "yes" to a single one of those questions. Until you can honestly give a resounding "yes" to at least two of those questions, then you ride with the guy and keep in mind that he was the most accurate passer in the game before this past season and was deadly efficient in the TD to INT category. Romo is no different than any other QB, man. He's not going to be able to do any of this by himself. No QB does. Brady (arguably the best QB in the history of the game) proved that today. Get him the help he needs (a defense and a running game) and he's playing on championship weekend, too. When your QB lacks the skills to get it done, you move on. Romo doesn't have that problem.
I really can't get mad at your opinion, because the same points you are bringing up, are the same points I use to bring up a couple of years ago. When I use to argue for Romo.
So I'll respect it.
