What Are The Chances That Extension Talks With Dak Go Bad?

Jerry is going to tell the world he has had enough of Dak, he is not the guy we thought he was, and we are benching him immediately.

Are you actually serious or is this a joke I am missing?

Hell could freeze over, thaw out, and then refreeze a million times over before Jerry would ever even think of doing that, come on now.
Yep, according to Johnson, Booger admitting he was wrong is not going to happen.

As is the case for most players that Jerry signs in Dallas (see DLaw holding off surgery until he got his new deal).

Loser owner surrounded by loser players.
Dysfunctional owner surrounded by over hyped and over paid players.

There’s a reason he over pays as he doesn’t trust he can find someone better and these Star players are marketable .

It all goes back to our owners initial priorities.

Who is going to watch him play for 2 more seasons? I mean seriously.
The fan base is fed up. Excuses aren't going to cut it for 2 more years.
Only the morons in the fan base are "fed up" with back to back 12-5 seasons.

The Joneses have extensive poor history as negotiators, what makes anyone think this is going to go good?

When they were negoitating that last contract, how many times did Booger comment about needing the space to sign other players? Did Prescott or his agent care? Prescott even made the ignorant statement that everyone can get paid. Of course, they could not.

Remember Flacco making that statement he didn't want his contract causing them to lose players? Well, it did at 20M.

Think any QB's give a damn about the rest of the team unless it's a bud? They are in this for the money and themselves as are all of the players.
.. and there, my astute friend, is the crux of the problem with the NFL. That, along with the owners fueling that fire.

i dunno dude, i am fed up with same story of regular season success, WC win, Divisonal round loss....it honestly has made the regular season more boring for me. I don't think its that people are fed up with back to back 12-5 seasons as much as the 12-5 seasons not translating to post season succcess. People are just tired of getting their hopes up just to see the fizzle at the end of year.

Real fans were "fed up" when Dave Campo was the HC and the QBs options were Quincy Carter or Chad Hutchinson.

Any claims that fan frustration has peaked after back to back 12-5 seasons is silly.

I didn’t recall the exacta details going off of memory. Your recollection was amazing of the details unless you copied that. I didn’t recall Jethro actually officially making those earlier offers . I thought the hold up was Dak wanted a smaller deal only 4 years where Jethro wanted 5 or 6 years but again just going off memory.

Regardless , most felt it was Market Price and was over paying . It is what it is. In the end that’s on our owner for caving in and or not getting an earlier deal done .
No I just did some research on specifics but was familiar with it. I know I come across as an arse at times but I try my best to base my level of arse on stats. :)

The first offer in 2019 was due to Dak starting the season off with 3 wins while amassing good stats so he and his agent held off because they wanted more money whereas the 2020 offer was mainly rejected because of the 5th year added on to it.

Agreed, our owner is an idiot when it comes to these second contracts and we the fans line up for the yearly colonoscopy known as the Dallas season.

The same Dak who, thru his agent, turned down a 5-year $175M deal before Dallas had to franchise tag him then refused a 5th year in his latest deal so that he could force a restructure with more money or take advantage of a new deal sooner?

Dak is not Tom Brady who took less to better the team. Dak is all about Dak which means money, not winning a Super Bowl.
So far he has shown that to be true.

It will be interesting to see how he approaches things this time, now that he has already banked 150+ million. Great opportunity to be the leader he is reported to be.

I'm not betting on him though.

That's the way I remember it. The 2019 offer was in the neighborhood of 5/32/80. He "bet on himself". The 2020 offer was around 5/35 and I forget the guaranteed amount.

Dak rejected it because he wanted the shorter deal even though it was unprecedented to give a 4 year deal with no remaining years on the existing contract to work with for cap purposes.

We can't blame Jerry for not signing him earlier and cheaper. We can blame Jerry for signing him period, and will likely be able to blame Jerry for extending him.

Back-to-back 12-5 seasons are meaningless if yet another playoff failure adds to the near 30-year Super Bowl drought.
17-0 is meaningless if we're only going to make it to division playoffs just to go home every year. I'm not asking for a Superbowl win. I'm just simply asking for an appearance on the field.

IDK, K.......I will admit I'm starting to agree with the last statement regarding his ceiling. Where we disagree is his ceiling level. You see him as below average to the bottom. He has clearly proven he can give you a winning season and post-season berth but the problem, as we have heard Jimmy Johnson and a few others say, it's not much left after that, he needs help.

My issue for the first time, I'm feeling that killer drive and motivation. In fact, there were times during the 49er playoff game, I question whether or not his heart was in the game, considering what was at stake. Just couldn't get a feel for him........
I’ve always said, Dak to me is the ideal backup, maybe best in the league, that can keep your team afloat if your QB ON A GOOD TEAM is out for a few games here and there because of injury.

Other than that, to me he’s just another average QB, who lucked into an ideal situation that the majority of QBs of his caliber don’t and because of it, have short careers.

At this point, he is what he is. The ability to PROCESS the field quickly is not something you learn. This is one of Dak’s biggest weaknesses which is why he’s often late with the ball, which also allows for secondary defenders to position themselves for easy picks.
