What happened to Dez Bryant's hands?

Dez has to catch the ball but it would be nice if the passes were anywhere near consistent.

The end zone pass was high and a fastball with velocity.
Others were wobbling ducks.

Cassel has been worse at QB than Weeden imho. He is more vocal and wants it more but he has far less arm talent.

You give Weeden 6 seconds and you get a spiral every time.

I dont know how some of you can jump week to week on who you hate on the Dallas Cowboys. From Hardy, Lawerence, Crawford, now Dez? Does anyone remember the Philly game? I will blame the inconsistency at QB before i take to making our best active offensive player out to be a scapegoat.

They have also had a backup QB that has been there for more then 4 months in total. Not to mention a real WR coach, a real HC, and a great OC. Ill tell you right now, knowing how Dez thinks, when he sees Garrett running that same jumbo package gettin stuffed week in week out at the goal line, hes most likely sitting there saying, "wow, this coach doesnt have a clue." IF we are seeing it, i guarantee you the rest of the team is.

Now that, I understand.

I even posted in the game thread, early in the 2nd, that I was seeing signs of a Team that looked like they had quit on the head coach....I think the team, really tried not to do it,,,,,, but I think they quit on Garrett.

I am glad to hear this news Dallas. Yeah, I don't have any Grandchildren yet but I hear it almost daily from my Wife. Not sure what she expects me to do about it but yeah, LOL......

I am looking forward to that day myself. You be well my Friend!

Really? Dez is a main reason we are losing games? Thanks for posting. That may be the funniest post of the day.

I didn't say he was the main, but he is ONE of the main reasons.. Absolutely! When you are playing with a back up QB, your stars have to step up. He has failed at every opportunity. So yea, he deserves just as much blame as anyone.

The Cowboys play a timing based offense. It isn't going to be easy to plug and play.
Not sure even having a quality back up will matter much.
The offense belongs to Romo.

You'd like to not see it be a dumpster fire with the back up but we aren't winning any titles with a back up QB imho.

I have watched every game. You point to 1 game in 8 that he has played in. Good for him, he had 5 catches and 105 yards. Look I like Dez, I do. I think he is a great weapon and is not used properly often enough by this staff. But regardless of that or anything else. If I am paying you 14 million dollars, you better catch the balls that hit you in the hands. Period. He dropped a game winner against TB, he dropped several passes yesterday that could have changed the game completely. He is struggling, everyone sees it. It is a reason our O has not been effective, not the main reason but he is a definite contributor to the lack luster performances we have witnessed without Romo. Now was the time for him to step up his game, throw the team on his back and carry them to a few wins, but he keeps dropping the ball. I expect more out of him, he has all the talent in the world and can be among the greats but he has to step up his game when it matters the most and he failed this year. Hopefully its not a trend.

I don't think it's a trend. I think it's more just the entire team. The team keeps seeing blown leads, clock mis-management, ineptness at coach, the refs seemingly always one sided or just downright horrible and it takes its toll. Just my opinion

Timing was off, ball was inconsistent, it was raining/windy, they were playing him tight, he was overthinking/pressing. Let's see what next week looks like. I think he is finally close to healthy but he doesn't have his rhythm back yet because he doesn't know what to expect from Cassell.

I'll take that a step further and include not just Bryant but every receiver from high school level on up.

You better catch the ball if it hits you in the hands.

Nobody's perfect. There will be drops but what is any receiver's number one responsibility? It's catching passes. Some passes are impossible to catch. Pass thrown two feet above your vertical jump? Impossible to catch. Ball thrown into the dirt five yards in front of you? Impossible. Ball thrown to a DB before it reaches you? Ditto.

But a ball that hits you in the hands is catchable. Hard to catch? Maybe but still catchable. And what separates great receivers from good receivers and poor receivers is how often they allow catchable balls to hit the ground.

An old NFL proverb says, "Even Jerry Rice struggled his rookie year." Bryant's no rookie. He's the only person in the world who can decide whether he's going to retire one day as one of the best NFL receivers of all-time or a good receiver who made spectacular highlight reel catches at times but dropped his fair share of catchable passes.

Can anyone tell me what has happened to this guys hands? I mean, wasn't he one of the most sure handed receivers in the league? I don't want to hear the injury excuses either because his injuries have nothing to do with holding on to the ball. I just don't get it, has he mentally checked out or what? Thoughts?

He has been handling the monkey with his hands more than a football lately. Never drops the monkey have you noticed?

He said that if he could do yesterday over that he would not have wore gloves and that he changed gloves 3 times.

I honestly think he just lacks focus from the lack of targets he gets and when he is actually targeted it just surprises him so much that he doesn't catch the pass.

Instead of changing his gloves he has to trade in the monkey and start worry about catching balls.

I would really like to see us go back to throwing Bryant some quick bubble screens and those quick passes we used to throw him to get him going. He is the kind of guy, like a runningback who gets better as he gets more touches and as the game goes on. He is not going to beat anyone with speed r quickness. He needs to be able to wear down the coverage.

Once again, however, I don't trust our coaches to do anything that resembles adjusting or putting players in their best positions. Dez is a run after the catch guy. Let him do it.
