Which one of these is not like the other?

The names you list are all 1st round picks. Dak is a fourth. Putting him in that crowd is a bit of a reach.

Exactly. And my point is if these first-round picks struggled, why would we be down on Dak if he did also? :)

This kid is the real deal, there will be some growing pains but this kid can play. Look for him to light it up against the Giants.

It will be Jerrys fault, and if he doesn't well it's because a broke clock is right twice a day

What will the vibe be here? Will we forget he was drafted to be 3rd string and forced into the starting lineup?
Well then the Dak burger is off the menu at the diner.

I'm positive that if Dak plays like a rookie making his first start in this game everyone will react reasonably and in no way over analyse everything regarding his future as the starter. From my experience on the board everyone posts moderate, mature reactions to losses.....

I can't imagine him facing much more than what Seattle threw at him.

The first half of that game atmosphere was every bit of a regular season game in my opinion.

Seattle's defense is actually pretty simplistic, though. They don't do a whole lot of smoke and mirrors in coverage or blitzing. They are dominant because they have dominant players that play within that simple scheme. Spagnuolo is a whole different beast, in that regard. He's going to show Dak some looks that he hasn't even dreamed of, yet. That's where we're going to see if Dak is the real deal or not (and no, we shouldn't base his career trajectory on this or ANY game he starts this season). But it's a very real possibility that the Dak hype train will hit an obstruction on the tracks over the next couple of weeks (especially since we start the season with two division games).

Women will lament, children will cry, and we'll all wait for Romo to return. I, personally, think Dak will represent himself well enough to give us a chance in any game we play. Where I question his effectiveness will be when we are down late and need a "Romo-like" comeback to win the game because our defense (again) put us in the hole. People that are quick to write Romo off seem to forget how many times that guy has delivered through clutch performances fueled by veteran savvy. Romo has seen every defense and knows every coverage that has ever been played at this level and he's a master at exploiting them when the chips are down. Dak simply doesn't have that yet (through no fault of his own, as it comes with experience).

You forgot to use the sarcasm font (I don't know which one that is, BTW).

For some extended time between the first two games, Dak is going to struggle mightily.
That does not mean his potential is still not there to eventually be the long term solution for Dallas.
I expect him to play fairly well overall.
I mean, half of this offense has been to, or will eventually go to, the Pro Bowl.

I am expecting him to struggle. Anything above "struggling" will be gravy.
The coaches, analysis, talking heads say that for a rookie to succeed in his first game without a great defense is nearly 0. So wait until he sees the third game to see if he is above "struggling". I have the Boys losing the first two games then on to a weaker opponent. I say see if he rebounds from a loss with attitude, if so we may have a winner in a QB.:(:)

Huh, I'm more worried about our pass rush. From the small sample of the pre-season you can tell Dak has composure and the physical skills. He may not have a great game but I would be surprised if you don't see flashes of brilliance that will give us continued hope that he is the future.

DAk doesnt have to be Romo to win this game but he needs to keep the chains moving,I think the Giants have really upgraded their Dl,all 4 are very good run stoppers,it might be the toughest opponent our Oline has faced within the division.I would really start off with throwing the ball if the Giants load up the box.

If he stinks it up this board will be on full blown excuse mode.

Ive been reading posts for weeks about him ALREADY being better than Romo. Whether it be a retired LB or TV analyst, people have been quoting and pushing his preseason performance down everyones throat. IF he stinks, the disappointment may be too large for this board at this point
