No, they are not a contender. Adding Joe Johnson does not make you go from one of the worst teams in the NBA to contender.

the reason he liked us is he preferred to live and raise his kids in dallas.
but he didn't trust the plan. he was scared dirk was leaving in 2 years and he'd have zero help. he saw the nets go well over the cap for the foreseeable future and laugh at the luxury tax.

they had haywood on the radio before dwill's decision and he basically said with joe johnson and wallace thats a salty group. there was also a constant buzz that DH was going to the Nets and only Nets over his dead body. ---see my points above about nets leaks

did DWill get bamboozled? maybe. will he regret his decision? i think so.

can i hate the guy. no. i know he is a humble star and family man. not an idiot. he isnt getting arrested. the guy is playing golf on his vacations not boozing and womanizing.

they only have 10 players under contract.

roster is very shallow. i think they are a .500 team... if DWill/Lopez are healthy all year.

It's possible the Mayo signing was a SnT. I expect Dallas to use their $2.5 mil exception on Delonte. Maybe we shipped out Roddy to Memphis. Just a guess.

IMO West is signed for the SME by tomorrow. He is still in Dallas and knew that offer was coming once they used all their cap space.

Roddy B is trade bait. Folks in the Dallas front office do not think of him as a PG. He is Collison with less PG experience.

West is a backup 1 and 2 who can actually play defense.

Also note JET hasnt signed with Boston. The Celts badly want that to be a S&T. Now that we have Mayo we have no reason not to assist the Celts.

Could see a 3 team deal with Memphis, Dallas, Boston. Or any odd mix of the above. Jet didn't hold off signing for nothing.

This was all a process. Everything has fallen perfectly for Dallas after the initial bodyblow by DWill. Mavs have played cards perfectly and may well end up with some additional rewards out of this Celts trade.

Could see any of our bottom guys move for cap relief and also see a 2nd round pick come back from the Celts.

Might see West start at PG for more defense actually. Also Coop suggests Jones could start at PG but play D-Steve like mins ~17. Could also see Dallas start Brand over Kaman for defense.

apparently mayo deal is just 4.5m no s&t but still a possible s&t with boston for jet. think dallas is right at cap now but well below payout level. just need to stay below payout level so could theoretically add salary for just this year under their plan.

hope was s&t for jet not really mayo.

mayo s&t could have taken some of the low end contracts off the roster freeing up more cap space.

looks like no s&t's at all. in the end cubes was right.... cap space is king.

he put together a full roster with cap space. intriguing team to be sure.
