You guys have said the same **** every year for the last 8-10 and yet we’ve been probably the best drafting team in the league. Trust the process..

You didn’t like Tfred
Martin wasn’t sexy
Zeke was the flashy player
Tyler another we “reached” on
Parsons…”we needed a CB”

1st round trench players just make the team better

Nolan doesn’t see the field with Parsons and Lawrence on this team.

Torrance doesn’t see the field when Tyron is healthy

Top 2 RB’s were gone, which is really the only position that would have made a large impact
The only way you should take Mazi over Nolan is if you think Mazi is the better overall player. Period. This isn't the QB position.... on the DLine, you better have 2 entire "hockey lines" you can rotate in and out.

I thought Nolan was a Top 10, at LEAST Top 15 player. Mazi....Top 45/50. Don't fill slots with draft picks...just accumulate as many dominant players as you can. Philly didn't NEED nolan smith either.... but they sure as hail weren't going to let a top10/15 player make it past their pick at 30.

My one hope for Mazi, is that he's better than his tape. I DO know he was forced to just hold his ground a LOT in college, but I THINK he could be a legit pass rusher if he was given some freedom (not uncommon for college dLinemen).

Still, the Mazi pick was light years better than the Schoonmaker pick...who was a Day3 player all the way

It was not an exciting draft, even the QB picks were nothing special and there were no Hollywood WR's. And the Cowboys treated it as such.

The talking heads could only muster excitement because of trades. It was really a boring draft. Even the NFL realized that and decided they needed a loud and annoying cover band and more drunk fans channeling KISS.

Other than breaking the pattern and going DT in the 1st, which may prove to be the only real difference maker out of this draft. The LB might be something as he is an all over the field player.

But what does the lack of action by the Cowboys tell us? They think they are fine just where they are. No need to add a Hollywood TE, or a stud RB or a stud OL, they like their guys.

In that regard, this is the 2009 draft when they thought all they needed was depth and ST.

In 2022, the Cowboys were in the 3rd position in the NFC and I think they feel nothing has changed, they are still relevant and within striking distance of the Eagles and Niners. Forget the Lions, Giants and Seahawks, they do not matter.

There was much happiness with the moves the Cowboys made in the off season with the acquisitions made, and justifiably so as they usual make no noise. However, that came at a cost. In the GM's mind, that moved the needle so the draft wasn't as critical as usual and going into the season with a thin OL and WR corps doesn't seem to concern him.

This draft illustrated the real difference between a GM that really wants to win because he has to and one that just wants to be relevant and the most covered by the media. The Cowboys went about this as if they've already arrived; the Eagles went about it as if they're not there yet.

All around, it was a pretty lackluster draft and the Cowboys sure played their part in that. Because there is no hurry to get better, they feel they're good enough.
disagree 100% Drafts better than it looks and they dont feel anything, they picked players in the bottom 10 of every round and picked players they felt could add to the team.. no glitz to fans doesn't mean they were satisfied but they did have most of the 22 starters already set and those payers could turn out much better then it appears on paper. you can call it a layup all you want, i don't see it as that.

But hey trade that blue Jersey in for green wings and be done. isnt that who you hound others when they dont appear happy.

This is facile analysis.

Let's look at the 2009 draft starting with their was no first round pick because they traded it away for a horrible RW11 deal. There is no analog. They then traded down twice so there was no second round pick. Again no comparison.

They then picked two small school backup types in the third round.

But yeah it is just like the 2009 draft.

expert fan internet armchair GM alert,, please tell us how our FO purposely tanked the draft..they picked to cause controversy and get the worst players possible, knew they would allow Nolan to fall to philly and Buff to get Kincaid and just didnt care , they wanted philly to be better..LOL they want to tank just like last offseason just tanked it but got lucky to win 12 games 2 years in a row.

Well 29 other teams didnt see Nolan in the same way you did…could be a reason for that?

That's a weird response. "Tanking the draft" would mean they intentionally drafted bad players with the intention of having a poor team. Did you not understand what that word meant? If so, now I've educated you.

Also, subtract every post on this forum, that's based on the opinion of the person making the post, and all you will have left is rude, meaningless posts that contribute nothing.....like yours.

its nothing like that, we have some good payers from over the weekend but the wrong ones in fans minds, jaded upset fan base saying crazy things. when fans LISTS of FA and Draft picks aren't met , its bad its horrible and done purposefully to make fans mad.

riddle me this, if Jerry and Stephon only do things to hype the fan base and media to overrate the team why didn't they pick the popular picks like Kincaid, nolan, and that OL fans are upset we missed him and why didn't they get OBJ over Cooks.. i mean if its all about the bragging rights why do what they did, i guess Will got bad overnight, great drafts the last decade not many misses but now hes stupid must have amnesia..

MM, quinn, Mcclay, and the jones just decided to tank the draft for no reason. LOL i mean all of them have 30plus years of NFL experience but for this weekend they got stupid. I guess they are blowing it up look out 7-10 here we come :)

same thing was said last offseason :))

No, 14 teams didn't pick Smith between the 10-15 range I called him as, before the Eagles picked him at 30. Not 29. 29-15= 14.

The reason those 14 didn't? Drafting for need would be my guess.

EVERY team improved their roster with the draft...as every team does, every year.

The real question is: did the Cowboys utilize their draft assets to their full potential.

You can go into the draft with no 1st rounders (if you traded it for some reason) and only have 4 or 5 picks. As long as you treat each pick wisely, and maximize it, then you drafted well.

I do not think the Cowboys maximized their assets. Instead of scooping up guys that unexpectedly fell (like nolan smith for instance), they picked guys 10 spots, or several rounds, sooner than "the NFL world" expected them to go. Don't have a huge problem with Mazi though
Time will tell and honestly no team will ever use their assets to their full potential bc there is so much subjectivity...however I do think the cowboys left some value on the table especially with the 2nd round pick...however it's all speculation at this point

Hey in 1983 26 teams passed up Dan Marino and 5 QB's were taken before Miami grabbed him at #27. Elway and Kelly were understandable picks, but Blackledge, Eason and O'Brien?

It happens. Good players drop every damn year. We'll have to wait and see if this is what happened with Nolan.

And lets look a little deeper at the roster after the 2009 draft. The biggest issue was at LB and DT where they rolled out Erne Sims next to Lee and Nick "scrub" Hayden to anchor the defense.

Just the same. . . .

His career production is definitely there to back up the top 10 ranking you have that others passed (6.5 sacks). You’ve fallen in love with another Vernon Gholston type combine warrior, only Gholston had far superior college production.

Did I mention he probably didn’t see a single double team or chip his entire career given the other talent around him?

The object isn't to win 12 games.
ITS NOT to get regular season banners and participation trophies.
It's not to have a positive drafting reputation.

The goal is to win championships.
For once submit a plausible explanation for your support of continuing to do things the same way while winning absolutely nothing.

Your attempts at condescension are comical and your pollyanna delusions of grandeur that are your version of these Cowboys is a constant punchline.

Come up with new material to support why your Jerry Jones held opinion on things should be taken seriously.

Philly improved their team. The Cowboys didn't.
If Dallas was in the same spot to pick 10th to select Carter (plus moving up a couple spots to secure the pick) all the grades for Dallas would have been an A+ just from that selection alone. It's really difficult to compare a team selecting in the top 10 to a team selecting close to the bottom of the draft. (For the 1st round) Also, keep in mind that Dallas gave up some draft capital to obtain some needed players via trade.

Just like Mazi....u gotta look at how they were used in college, and not just at sack numbers.

You can find a former bust of any type of player you"'de ever draft, and former successes too.

I THINK nolan has the potential to be a much better edge player than Mazi has potential as a DT..... BUT, both players have a lot of potential, and both seem to be good dudes, so we shall see. Maybe they'll both be really good.

Yeah....u need to evaluate drafts based on the picks you have. Like,....the Rams, who didn't pick to Rd 2 or 3, should be evaluated on an adjusted curve compared to Houston. But IMO, the Rams had equal opportunity to "draft well" as Houston did.

Ok, so outside of individual contribution, what does Mazi potentially bring that opens up our 2nd tier by potentially taking on the double teams necessary? The mazi pick is about stopping the run and to allow our speed to roam and not get caught in traffic..?
