Yes too many fans don’t get that but I understand their frustration
Do you really think that some numbers on a roulette wheel are better than others?

As if a team like the Commanders could have just as easily won it all as either team that plays today?

Absurd.

Great article and Patrik Walker don't actually go together.

He can go onto "the Science Lob" all he wants but he's another in a long line of Dallas media yes men.

Hard to take anyone sports journalits serious who gets "chills" over WWE storylines.
What’s the beef with No C? He’s actually a good follow, he gives good insight and it appears the players trust him with info, he seems like a great dude whose entertaining and engaging with his followers. If you do follow him he’s under no illusions about WWE but I get the feeling he enjoys it because of his childhood. I am not a fan of wrestling and it’s fake storylines, but to each their own.

How much it wound it cost to bring in Patrick McQueen, Jordon Brooks, and Azeez Al-Shaair? I would bering in 2 of those free agents to overhaul the linebacker core.

Many times the best team does not win in the end.

They need a complete overhaul on the inside.

Parsons and Overshown are your starting points.

Clark is good depth, Vander Esch cannot be counted on.

Simple fix sign Josey Jewell as your starter, then sign a cheaper vet like Chaisson ($3 million) and draft Junior Colson early and a guy like Tommy Eichenberg or Dallas Gant on day 3.

You can then line up MICAH-JEWELL-OVERSHOWN (Vet to play if Overshown needs more time)

You groom Colson to be your future LB and Clark can eat snaps when needed.
Chaisson is not a LB solution. Jewell would be nice. Then draft another like Trevin Wallace and things are looking up.

Absolutely, but it’s not as if all teams start out equally and it’s some sort of a lottery.

It’s a matter of being good enough or not. Todays loser is good enough to be a champion but won’t be, and they didn’t get to this point on chance alone.

There are other options
For the money we would pay Queen we can get Reader and David or White
The biggest issue is that someone has to convince Parsons that hes not a full time DE
The way they've been playing Parsons is absolutely sinful. Basically, he's not required to think, just go. At this point, his learning curve might be even longer if we switch him to LB where he belongs. We have massively done a disservice to this young man. He was a possible HOFer at LB.

Depends on how you look at it. The team w/ the best facet to beat other good teams is generally the one who wins. W/ KC it's Mahomes. W/ SF it's usually the D, though McC and Deebo play a huge role.

NYG beat NE by having a completely dominant pass rush. So, who was really the better team? When they played them during the season, the NYG only lost by 3, so it wasn't as if they hadn't already shown they were up to the task.

I don't get excited over FA. Because nothing happens that makes a difference. We will sign half of our own, and some mid to low level guys. Probably one year deals again.
Only thing to look forward to FA this year is, will they get LB's for Zimmer. And how many. No, they will not get big names.
And will they announce, Micah will play more of a traditional LB role, but also use him to pass rush, but better disguised.
Prepare for Anthony Barr to return

This is a GREAT article about the LB situation. It needs some major additions this off season. And for goodness sake move Bell back to safety please! Must read article.

FRISCO, TX — One thing was made evident in 2023 by the Dallas Cowboys' defense, and that's the fact that linebackers do, in fact, matter. Some of the struggles in run defense were attributable to the lack of size in the LBs room, Damone Clark notwithstanding, and a career-threatening injury to Leighton Vander Esch only made matters instantly worse.

With Dan Quinn now in Washington with the Commanders, and Mike Zimmer replacing him as defensive coordinator, it's likely the Cowboys revisit their approach to the linebacker position.

It feels like a foregone conclusion that they will, considering just how prominent linebackers have historically been to Zimmer's defenses in the past.

And that would be welcome news, in my opinion.

Take a look below at where everything stands now, and where it should soon.

Good article, thanks. The good news for the Cowboys is LB isn't a high cost position to address in free agency. Someone like Josey Jewell isn't an all-pro but is a very good LB all around that offers good value.

Guys like Wagner and David are still productive players that bring leadership to the group.

Queen likely to carry the highest cost but is am ascending player.

I believe you missed the point. There can be only 1

You’re not wrong in the aspect that niners and chiefs are built different but any given Sunday anything can happen

Not many expected the packers to beat us but they did

There are simply too many holes to fill in one season.

The Niners and Packers blowout games should have made that painfully clear.

Resigning Dak, Lamb and Parsons makes it all but impossible to remedy it through free agency in a MEANINGFUL way.

Next season is gonna be tough....I'm looking well beyond that for real change
Post of the off-season. They have issues at DL, LB, OL, RB and the cap. And the positional needs aren’t ST/backup, but major contributor needs. Oh, and only 3 prime draft picks.

Just my opinion, but Jerry’s “all-in” statement isn’t about making significant changes, but more that he recognizes 2024 is a turning point year. The team is good enough to probably make the playoffs and, if lady luck shines on them, win a couple of playoff games. But hard times are coming in 2025.

The LB corp is nonexistent. LVE will not be back, Overshown might be too light. and the mouth is now a rusher.

LB will be a major concern in the draft. Probably around round 5 or later. "In Jerry, we trust, in Jerry we die"

We need a new TE in the first, the new guy is not looking good.
Overshown may be light, but he may be the real deal, but unfortunately he won't be too much in the mix after having knee surgery. It's probably going take at least a year or more just to build up the strength in his knee to where he doesn't think about the surgery anymore. When those big guys go low on him, he's probably going to freakout and shy away from contact......................

Especially since he has a too skinny build for a LB to begin w/.

Very hard. We have no replacements for our good older players coming up, and are already salary cap strapped w/ huge needs.

I would think that they would want to gamble on 1 high priced free agent this go around. At least 1 veteran linebacker and or defensive tackle. Maybe a 3 million dollar running back, although they claim they will draft 1.
W/ what salary cap room? We're like 30 mil over right now.
