For the 2nd week in a row, Dak couldn't get the ball into the endzone twice settling for FGs. I'd like to think Romo gets us in more often than not. Dak has been good, but he's not the man until #9 is no longer available to play.

People are seriously overreacting on Dak right now. Yes, he's looked great and seems like he could be the future QB of this team (which would be awesome btw). However, it's been two games and it's just impossible to judge a player based on a small sample size like that. If Dak comes out next week and throws 3 interceptions and plays horrible, people will be singing a different tune. He's not even on the level of Romo yet and even you Romo haters know that. Tony deserves the chance to lead this team again. If he gets hurt again or is ineffective, then you pull the plug on Romo and let the Dak era begin.

I'm more than ready to move on from Romo. Unfortunately, we're never going to go anywhere with him, I'd prefer to take my chances with Rayne.

It's revisionist history that Romo has been some kind of redzone marvel. We''ve had ton of red zone problems under Romo as well. The one year we didn't is when we had Demarco Murray having a historic season. The problem is the offensive scheme.

I'm just happy this is even a discussion, albeit a stupid one.

If Tony gets injured again though, and maybe even if he doesn't, a serious discussion needs to be had about his contract next year. Right now we're actually over the cap (although itll increase), and his cap number is 24 mother loving million. 10 of it is prorated figures, but still.

If Dak keeps winning and in convincing fashion, you keep Dak in. Romo has been great, but he's not bigger than the cowboys. You don't move from the hot hand. If Dak struggles, you bring Romo back in.

Dak has thrown 0 TDs, is 21st in QB rating and 25th in yards per attempt. I really hope this isn't the hot hand.

I know I'm in the huge minority but I think it should go the last year Peyton/Brock Osweiler route. Keep Dak in until he screws up then put Romo in. But only if Dak continues to play well and we keep winning. The record should be a huge factor in who's the starter when Romo returns if we're 7-1 of course keep Dak 6-2 Dak anything lower becomes murky.

Alright then, what exactly are Romo's strengths? 12 year droughts? It is an honest question... Im trying to keep the big picture in mind.

What are his strengths?

He's one of the highest rated passers in the history of the NFL. And since you're so intent on extrapolating based on two games, I'll point out Romo currently has a better career winning percentage than Dak Prescott.

The two dropped TD passes in the first game is your difference in points right there. Also, you have to consider the points Romo consistently gives the other team in pick 6s which cancels a lot of those points out.

Dak is intelligent, more calm under pressure, and makes better decisions with the ball than Romo does. I think the most important element is his ability to run though. When we start utilizing his running ability even more, it is going to be a nightmare for defenses to stop.

I don't blame the coaches for being ultra conservative in the playcalling so far. You also have to keep in mind that Dak's arrow is pointing up, while Romo's is pointing straight down.

So you're saying his lack of success in the first game was due to mistakes made my other players. Well, welcome to Romo's world.

Will it be possible to unload Romos contract if we stick with Dak? That money could provide alot of Defensive help next season.
You would be looking at a 19 million dollar cap hit for Cutting Romo next year with none of it being available till June 1 if you want to have more then an extra 5 million max.

Dak put up 19 points in his first game against the same defense that held Super bowl winning QB Drew Brees to 13 points and he beat the Commanders with a highly limited run game. If Dak wins his next 4 games, you keep him in. Romo is going to be entering the game rusty and he's always a risk of 1 hit from being knocked out of the game. again. If the team is gelling, you don't ruin that.

I think there is roughly a 100% chance that Tony will start as soon as he is ready.

Romo comes back in only if Dak has a losing record. At .500 and over, Dak should stay in. Cowboys were going to be 8-8/9-7 anyway with Romo. Might as well allow a very promising rookie to grow on game day. Romo is already hanging on by a thread. He's taken Sean Lee's title of the Walking Chandelier....

If I'm making the decisions, I leave Dak in assuming he goes 7-1 or 6-2. Otherwise, Romo gets the nod.

Romo is going to start regardless of what anyone on here thinks though.

A little early to be having this conversation. But if this team has a winning record when Romo is healthy enough to return and Dak continues to improve I would stay with Dak. Regardless of what I think JG will throw Romo to the wolves and he will probably end up with another injury. No doubt a healthy Romo is better than Dak at this point in his career. Unfortunately we haven't seen a healthy Romo in a long time. Unlike Jerry I believe Romo's best years are behind him and Romo needs to start thinking about his health and life after football. His recovery time from game to game and back injections just aren't good. My biggest concern right now is our backup QB situation if Dak goes down this year. If Sanchez is inserted we are screwed.
