It appears with the hiring of Brian Schotty and two assistant coaches that specialize in run blocking schemes/coaching offensive linemen the Cowboys want to run the ball first and foremost.

I am in favor of drafting Henderson of Ohio St with his great speed and combining him with the power of Ollie from Oklahoma St.

Who do you guys suggest at running back? Remember Jeanty won’t be available in my scenario.

Treyvon Henderson is my guy.

That said, keep an eye on DJ Giddens from Kansas State. No. 1, he's a good RB, but no. 2, we just hired their o-line coach who may provide a favorable word to the scouts/FO.
Agree…not a popular opinion but he’s my RB2.

He’s gives you so much more juice and pass pro ability than basically everyone in the class.

I forget what pod I was listening to, but they were saying with the hire of Klayton Adams, that may indicate we are going to be running more sweeps and around the edges. I don't know how true that is because I don't catch much Cardinals football, but if it is, Henderson is a guy that can make the edge.

Henderson is a good target. I get the feeling he may go higher than people expect. But I do like targeting a RB with blazing speed. I think the lightning and thunder approach still works in the NFL.
I have a feeling if we don’t pick a running back before 44, none of the top 4 will be available. I just wonder who the Cowboys like. I think if you turn the runners in this draft into two backs you might be on to something.

No issue with Skateboo but you want to pay Dowdle money that we could give to another position? How much money you willing to pay Rico.
Seeing as Derrick got 9, Jamal Williams got 5, and Tony Pollard got 7….

His ceiling is probably Miles Sanders money (6), but he’ll likely gif or less than that. It’s not terrible for a 270+m$ cap

IMO drafting Jeanty in round one is a huge mistake for a team in desperate need of help in the trenches, especially on defense. Finding a good impact RB is way easier than finding an impact DL. This draft is deep in talented RBs.

My targets would be rounds 2-6; Would consider possibly taking two or getting another as an UFA:
ROUNDS 2-3
  • Treyveon Henderson Ohio State- elite speed for a RB, makes great cuts, excellent receiver, game breaker at any moment.
  • OMarion Hampton North Carolina- has a nice burst in open field, size and power. Not as great as receiver.
  • Quinshon Judkins- also Ohio State- not as fast as Henderson but great balance, nose for the goal line, makes great cuts, and can break tackles.
  • Ollie Gordon Oklahoma State- 2023 Doak Walker award winner would have been a first round pick last year but OSU had a rough year this year. Big and powerful but also has good speed.
ROUNDS 4-6
  • Dylan Sampson Tennessee- may not fall as far as 4th. Great speed, in fact may be fastest RB in draft, good lateral quickness, decent receiver.
  • RJ Harvey Central Florida-not elite speed but very quick, consistently productive runner in college, good balance, hits hole quickly.
  • Tahj Brooks Texas Tech - a sleeper. Not fast but very patient finding hole, breaks tons of tackles and is a sneaky good receiver. Might be available in rounds 5-7.
These guys are much better value in the draft than Jeanty.

Fair point about cap size. The fact that its a relatively weak FA class at RB and a talent heavy draft at same position, that alone will drive his price down. But remember, until 2024 Dowdle was hurt guy. I wouldn't invest a lot, 4 mil. But I think you can get another undrafted FA in this class equal to or better than Rico.

Yea…wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a legit 4.3 guy.

Also a fan of Harvey and Sampson bc I think they have that home run speed too.

guys I like:
trey Henderson - Aaron jones
Kalen Johnson- Todd gurley lite
Devin Neal - baby saquon
brashard smith - Percy Harvin
Jordan James - shifty pacheco
Tahj Brooks - David Montgomery
Raheim Sanders - demarco Murray
bhayshul Tutten- Aaron jones again

and my favorite Ollie Gordon- Adrian Peterson

Miles Sanders was a bad deal for Carolina. Rico was a good deal because he was cheap this season. He will never be a deal again for the Cowboys.

I have had this gut feeling Hampton will be a Cowboy for a long time. Having said that. RJ Harvey will go before 4th round, Tahj Brooks is a name to look for late as well as DJ Giddens.
Earlier rounds I like Kaleb Johnson and Hampton. Skateboo if not before round 3 (wish we had our 4th lol)

Another name I'd look for is Kyle Monangai Rutgers. I just think he could do well in our new system.

In round 2, Hampton, Johnson, and Henderson.
Later, Judkins, Sampson, Neal, Harvey, Smith. Giddens.

I am greedy. I want a back that can do it all: run inside and outside; get the tough yards and is excellent in pass protection
and can break it big running or catching

Wow, taking one of the top players in the draft is a mistake in your eyes. No, it isn't when you look at ability and character.
