Who Is The Best QB In The NFC East?

You do post an unusual number of things about Eli. Surely you wouldn't deny that.

I'm just wondering why the obsession with him. Some fans, even many fans, don't like Romo. We all get that. But I bet a lot of fans think Foles and/or Griffin are better than Romo, too. Yet I don't see so many posts about them.

How about you people stop being homers and call it like it is. Eli has more Super Bowl rings than Tony ROmo has playoff wins for Gods sake.

And based on youth and potential, I am taking RG3 and Foles over Romo.

Maybe you'd be happier posting on Extremeskins and igglephans then . . . . . . . . . just sayn'

Because God forbid I call it like it is. How is a guy with one playoff win in a 10 plus year career a better QB than a guy with 2 Super Bowl rings and 2 Super Bowl MVPs? You say this outside of this forum, and people would laugh at you. And based on youth and potential.. are people really going to take a washed up, broken down, injured QB over two potential superstars? I don't think so!

You're right, the Dallas Tony Romos haven't accomplished anything! If Tony Romo could throw to someone other than Tony Romo, or if Tony Romo could maybe defend a pass every now and then for chrissakes, or - incredibly - if Tony Romo would get off his rear and maybe sack a QB, or force a punt now and then, Tony Romo would have had way more playoff success.

Maybe if Coach Romo would call some run plays, or draft some better talent.

PS it's dumb to use SB rings to judge a QB

How about elimination games and playoff success?

Shouldnt you have one of these as your avatar, even tho you actually drive a 77 Chevette?

There have been many QBs carried to SBs based on the strength of the rest of the team. No one is going to convince me that Trent Dilfer, Ken Stabler, Doug Williams, Brad Johnson, even Terry Bradshaw, etc are better QBs than the likes of Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Tony Romo. But if you listen to ESPN and many posters around here, those guys are better than our guy because they have rings. I don't buy it and the use of a Super Bowl ring to determine whether or not someone is great in their specific position is ludicrous. Just as much so as if you were to say Demarcus Ware is a never-was because he doesn't have a ring.

I didn't say super bowl, I asked do playoff wins count?

As Percy stated so well:

There's the lazy, simplistic "count the rings" argument. While that does work for determining the best teams, and the age of a tree, it's no way to objectively compare QB play.

do you not have to win playoff games to get to the Super Bowl?

Dan Marino only got to one Super Bowl and lost, so I'm not talking about just winning a super bowl, I'm asking does playoff success count?

It counts the same for playoff games as it does for Super Bowls. Teams win SBs. Not to channel Jerry Jones here, but any one of 500 different QBs through history could have won the SB (and the requisite playoff games) with Seattle last year, because QB play isn't why they had that success. They have the right team, the right coaches, the right chemistry and atmosphere, and the right breaks that went their way. Very little to do with their QB.

What if a QB were a league MVP but didnt have great playoff success?

What about a 5 time Pro Bowler, made an all decade team, and is in the HOF, but never even started a playoff game?

What about a QB that is in the HOF, and went to 9 Pro Bowls, and only won 3 playoff games?

Or a 6 time Pro Bowler & HOF QB who led some of the most prolific offenses ever but was only 3-4 in the playoffs?

Are these guys w/o rings/playoff success any lesser QB's than the Trent Dilfers and Eli Mannings of the world who rode the wave to rings?
