Why are we in a rush to sign Dak?

Big Mike's input will have no difference as the lead actor is still the same on offense!
Some here can hate me all they want but the fact remains that our QB does not have starting NFL QB1 talent.
He has been surrounded by the best offensive+Defensive weapons during his career and he remains the #1 reason why we lay those playoff eggs.
I predict this coming season he will implode (If he doesn't get injured again) and at some point, Rush be our new starter.
Mentally (Let's be real here as he sweats like a pig in heat) he's a mess and knows first and foremost he is NOT qualified for the Job.
The pressure this coming season is MASSIVE for him (esp with the NFC East no longer being a pushover) and the boos will be plenty when his tooshie hits the bench that will be the end of the Dak fraudo years in Dallas.
No PR in the world can save him now from meeting his eventual fate of being one of the biggest QB busts that ever wore the Star!!!!
0 Hope as long as # 4 is under center and this has been proven the last years and if we make the playoffs he will once again fail to score the points required to win the game!
P.S. The locker room will be the spark that sends him packing!!!!
Biy what do you think about Grier?

For glorious moments such as the one below........

To develop a QB, there is a foundation to develop. What exactly is there going on year 8 that you can develop with regards to Dak, when folks are still saying his best season was 2016? Even then, they basically admitted he wasn’t a “passer” and didn’t practice well, but he has the “it” factor. Legit QBs, even when their team has nobody, one sees they have all the tools that wow you and it’s just a matter of time, putting it all together.

The more I watch this play, the more I am impressed with Dak's super human abilities as a QB....

Same type of throw against Jaguars. His going into the defender caused a tip by the DL, which ended up a pick 6 as well…. Both were low

Dak's best season is not 2016....only people saying that are on the other side of the fence with that one. People like you complained he couldn't throw for over 200 yards a game....he killed that myth long ago. So you guys hang on to that being his best season when its clearly not.

I know Dak gifted the 49ers 6 points and the 49ers fumble gave Dallas 6 points so in reality Dak scored 6 points in a dam playoff game. Dak should not of been allowed to be on the team plane home.
Should have given them a safety too, but the DL couldn’t make an easy tackle when Dak ran right into him..

You have a problem with logic. Folks are actually saying it, and they are all over this forum? I didn’t say ALL folks are saying it. It’s also like your logic in this thread trying to defend his stare down 6 pick on his first read by the argument “nobody else was open” as if he was even looking at anybody else.. why even go there? Because you want to defend the Circus show QB..

And Dak couldn’t throw over 200 yards when he didn’t have Amari come and bail him out, meaning he showed how pathetic he actually was when he didn’t have talent surrounding him.

Sign CD and Diggs, and next year worry about Dak. The QB market is too high to miss, and we need another evaluation year.

When you say "folks" are saying it you mean you and 2 others lol. Nobody thinks Dak was a better QB in 2016 than he is today.

And he threw for well over 200 yards last year without Amari....you mean he codlin't throw for over 200 yards when he had Allen Hurns as his #1?

Of course they're going to ask him to take a discount. Then Dak is going to ask for something over-market.

Then they meet in the middle at the number both parties already know they're going to sign at lol.

If you're willing to move on from him after next year, then you trade him right now and deconstruct the whole roster to get a top-5 pick. The clock on the rebuild starts the second you decide your quarterback isn't the guy.
No. Cowboys don't need to trade Dak right now at all. What kind of experience in business do you have? You keep Dak all this year and let him prove his worth once again. At the end of the season, if Dak refuses to give the team a discount on another contract extension, that's when you start shopping him around in the offseason. If you get no buyers, you draft his replacement early in next year's draft while you allow Dak to finish his contract which expires after next year.

Good! Use next year's 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB, plus sign a free agent vet on a team friendly 2 year deal. Gives the rookie time to get ready.

Or do you prefer paying $50+ million/year while limiting even more the team's salary cap going forward with so many other key players due for a contract extension?

I want to hear how your plan would work.

Remember, there is no bigger Dak supporter around here than me, but there comes a point where you simply can't keep overpaying any QB at the detriment of the team.
Pappy is extremely proud of you, as well as the rest of us enlightened folks.

Doesn't Dak have the no trade clause in his contract. I don't think you can shop him.

I agree, but drafting his replacement "early in next year's draft" may be easier said than done, especially if you don't pick till #26 like we did this year.
No one is replacing Dak next year unless it’s a top 5 pick. Anything else is mediocrity. People on this board thinks Super Bowl winning QBs grow on trees. 2 or 3 a decade. List the ones who have won the last 10 years. Foles is the anomaly

Yes, Dak does have the 'no trade' clause, but the Cowboys can play hard ball with him if Dak refuses to give the team a discount on an extension. If Dak refuses, simply let him play out his last remaining year (2024) on his current contract (will cost the team $60+ mil), then let him walk. As the current contract expires at the end of 2024, so does his 'no trade' clause. Start the negotiations this year and give him until the 2024 draft to accept a discounted new contract extension. If Dak refuses, draft his replacement either in the 1st or 2nd round of next year and let Dak play out his remaining contract for the 2024 season. That gives the young draft replacement time to learn the ropes from the sidelines for 1 year.
