Why are we in a rush to sign Dak?

Get out of your feelings lol. Why do even care? You're the most sensitive guy on this site like why even come on here you cry every time someone disagree with you. You're too old for that ****. Hold your head up high.
Question is..../why do YOU care...care what I think and run around telling people what they should think. Old?

I "cry every time someone disagrees with me". LOL....I just respectfully disagreed with someone. He was mature enough to accept our disagreement. You...keep going like a petulant little child.

This is the cowboys, they don't cut "their guys." Oddly enough, running your org like a frat house is also why the culture in Dallas sucks so much.

And I would add that if Dak takes this to a SB, reward and extend him.
Absolutely, but at a reasonable price. Dak already got paid. He can continue to get paid, but he needs to give the team a discount this time around. The Cowboys helped him. Now it's Dak's turn to return the favor.

You pay Dak sooner because:

1. They are not ready to let him hit free agency, and no way to buy themselves any time
2. Dak is in complete control of what he will get. Cowboys gave him all of the leverage on his last contract.
3. Seeing Levins fall past the cowboys was the only opportunity to draft a guy most had as a top 10 QB without having to be terrible for a year 1st.

That actually happened to me with Zeke. I mean at some point....you have to put aside the player for the team.

Problem for me is some people do it way too early and with sickening vileness.
If Dak shows up and performs well in 2023, especially with this improved team, he most certainly should be extended......but at a reasonable price. The Cowboys already stepped up and helped Dak with a huge contract 2 years ago. Now, Dak needs to return the favor and give the team a big discount......if he proves he deserves an extension after 2023. It's gotta be 50/50. If not, it won't work.

I disagree.

If Dak plays well in 2023 but refuses to give the team a big discount on an extension, you bite the bullet and draft his replacement in the 1st or 2nd round of the 2024 Draft. Then let the rookie QB learn under Dak throughout the 2024 season as you let Dak's current contract expire. It will be super costly ($60+ million) to get out of that contract, but it's better than continuing to overpay, affect your salary cap going forward, and be held hostage at the same time.

Naw he's not taking a cut. And shouldn't have to unless he plays poorly. But if he plays well why would he take a cut if his play doesn't warrant him to take one?

I brought this up in the 2024 draft thread. There could be 6 draft eligible first round quarterbacks in next years draft. The cap is rising so Dak’s big cap hit may not be as big as some fans think it might be. The fact that the Cowboys did not draft a quarterback in this year’s draft could be telling as well. Plus the Cowboys have an option to trade Dak next offseason.
Cool. Very interesting brother. This allows the Cowboys to put Dak on notice. Work with us by giving us a big discount on an extension by the end of 2023, or be prepared for 2024 to be your last year as a Dallas Cowboy as we draft your replacement.

I don’t think they are. I think it is a fan and media thing more so than a team thing.
I’ve never heard they were extending him now. Before the restructure it was an option to clear cap space. The restructure solved that issue cap wise. There’s no reason to extend him right now after the restructure

What's the point of that though? If you draft a QB in the 1st that should be your starter. TO me there's no scenario where you invest a 1st round pick in a QB and you have Dak. It has to be either or.

If Dak refuses to take a discount, time to cut bait bro. He already has gotten paid $40 mil/year. That's not including the over $100 mil he's made in sponsorships just for wearing the Star on his helmet. No player should be above the team or its payroll.

I'm trying to understand your reasoning for why he should take a pay cut? Players price doesn't get worse it goes up. What am I missing here? SO because he got 40 million it means its time to get less because he got paid too much? I'm so confused lol.

Because Dak will still be under contract in 2024, unless the Cowboys can find a trading partner. If Dak refuses to give the team a discount, force him to play the last year (2024) under contract while you draft and groom his replacement. Very simple.

Now, if Dak plays well in 2023 and decides to give the team a good discount on an extension going forward, we're all good. If Dak gets greedy, ...... BYE.

Romo did it. Brady did it. Roethlisberger did it. Garoppolo did it. I'm sure there are a few others. They did it to help the team salary cap-wise in order to maintain a good team intact.

My point is....if you are building a team around Dak why would you use a 1st rounder on his backup? That does not help you now. The objective is to win NOW. If that's not with Dak then cut him.

What is a discount to you lol?

Wait what? When the hell did Romo, Brady and Big Ben do it? And Garopollo does not belong with those other names. Whatever he got was probably too much lol.

I think you said it in an earlier post. It’s on Dak. The Cowboys would love to extend him at a team/player friendly salary between 48-50 million annually. The problem is Dak said he will let France handle the deal. The agent wants top dollar and knows if Dak plays well he can be the highest paid player in the league. France wants Dak to be a free agent.
