Why did we have to trade R. Switzer?

Sorry, but the stats are there in black and white - anyone can read them. Beasley's usage almost tripled in his second year, which was before Linnehan came to Dallas, and Beasley was actually targeted less the year Linehan came. Beasley has really only had one breakout year, and that was in Linehan's 3rd year as offensive coordinatior. You can say that is wrong all you like, but those are the facts.

Seems you are setting a pattern of posting more out of emotion than out of facts or reason.

True, I do think we will see an increase in throws to Beasley this coming season over last season. I think Dak will rely a lot on Beasley in large part because they have been together and developed a chemistry and with the loss of Dez and Witten I think Beasley will become a safety net for Dak

Can someone give me the download here? He seemed to be developing nicely, we may have had a different vision for him but I see this being the next Danny Amendola situation where he goes on to have a good career in the NFL.
Too crowded at WR and he was the odd man out. They basically wanted to use him like Dunbar, but after we traded for Tavon Austin he seems to now fill that role. We also filled a BIG need at DT with getting Ward.

Seems like you are in the habit of changing the subject until you finally get to a topic you may have an angle on.
Almost tripled did it? So was that from like 10 receptions to 30 receptions? How about posting those stats big buddy? I guess you gave up on the other stuff eh?

You talked about Beasley's usage, and I responded with facts about Beasley's usage. How is that a change of topics?

In any case, since you can't seem to look up stats yourself that everyone else can, Beasley started zero games as a rookie, 3 in his second year. He had 128 yards receiving in his first year, and 368 in his second year (2.9 times more than the year before). He had 15 receptions in his first year, and 39 in his next year (2.6 times more).

Now, what is this "other stuff" I gave up on?

How about a couple simple questions instead of beating around the bush?

1. Do like the way that the team uses its offensive skill players in general?
2. Do you like Garrett for a head coach?

And the other stuff was Murray.

mr Cowboy Brian---- I too am very upset we got rid of Switzer...only on year 2 of rookie contract and Beasely is 29 on his last year of second contract...we instead get Tavon Austin who returned 158 punt returns for Rams in 5 years and fumbled 17 times...yes this is not a misprint...17 times...that means out of every 9 punt returns Austin fumbled the ball and i am sure it led to several games being lost...Tavon Austin in 5 years for Rams scored 24 TD's and fumbled the ball 22 times..he is a fumbling machine....you can find these stats ....nfl.com career stats Tavon Austin

Talk about changing the subject .....lol

But we can move along to this. My answers are as follows:

1. I like some things they do, but others not so much. I will be happy to talk about anything specific you might want me to address, but in general I will say I like the emphasis on the running game we've had since 2014, but I tend to think the passing offense is a little too generic and they don't do a good job of making in game adjustments as they see what the opposing defense is doing.

2. I think Garrett has had his chance, and should have been replaced. He's had a couple of very good regular seasons, though falling short in the playoffs, but has had more average to poor years, and he has failed to develop any consistency from year to year.

LOL........true, very true. Just trying to consolidate the conversations. And it appears I was incorrect in saying Beasley rotted on the bench with Garett. The numbers clearly dont bear that out.

I love what they are doing with the running game as well. Been a long time coming. But I abhor the way they use the personnel. I dislike the passing scheme. Dont pass enough to Zeke. Not moving around Dez more was always a big issue for me. It was also confirmed by when our former receiver from last year talked about them only using each receiver to run certain routes. Makes it all much more predictable which we already knew.

I dont think Garrett has EVER had a "great year". I think 2016 was clearly his best. Sticking with Dak being the big move there. But he destroyed it all when he made the EXACT same coaching blunders against GB he did 2 years prior. Garrett will never be a good football coach.

Posters sometimes think I support Garrett as a coach because I won't buy into all the silly nonsense people make a deal out of, like clapping on the sidelines, or I won't buy into all the nonsense about how he throws everyone under the bus or the supposedly telling things that people imagine they can read between the lines at every press conference. There is no need for me to fabricate a personal issue with the man, or trump up a personality or character flaw in the man. Frankly I think Garrett is a good guy and he works hard at his job. He just hasn't been that good at it, and he hasn't accomplished what he was hired to do, and he has easily had time to get things done. That's it - a bottom line kind of view.

Tavon Austin signing pushed him out. Too many WR's on roster. It's nice that they look to improve every position. Competition. Well, almost every position.

No idea, I think he should have stayed but they had to get rid of someone to add Austin. I don't crap about Ward, he won't even make the roster

You are just repeating what a million other armchair scouts have read. You did not scout this guy in person so stop trying to sound like you did. That goes for the rest of you armchair scouts. According to Rod Marinelli, Jihad Ward can play the 1 tech... he'd know because he got to know him during his coaching stint at the 2016 Senior Bowl. The Raiders had him playing as a DE which IMO, is out of positon.
Raiders are/were a 3-4 team. Khalil Mack plays LOLB. So naturally they had Ward listed as a DE which is really a DT in that kind of scheme.

That's no excuse for not playing him as the interior down lineman. He was out of position. He's better suited to the Cowboys scheme where they will use him correctly.

Do you think every team besides Dallas gets to draft every player they like?

What round did he go in? If it was 3rd or after they had chances. Could see If first and was picked before our pick like Donald and the Rams but if say the 4th, means they had chances to pull the freaking trigger.

He went in the 2nd round with the 44th overall pick in the draft. Even so, for the team to say the liked him doesn't mean they liked him to the exclusion of all others that might have been available.

LOL.......and what did Switzer do on punt returns? Nothing. And didnt he fumble one time and lose us a game last year? Tavon is a much better return guy then Switzer.

As far a receiver we will have to wait and see. Like some other draft picks they barely get a chance here in Dallas.

Tavon Austin: 12 returns for 53 yards (4.4 average) 0 TD. Oh yeah, 5 fumbles (2 FR).

Ryan Switzer: 29 returns for 256 yards (8.8 average) 1 TD. 1 fumble.

Switzer had nearly 5 times th yards, double th return avg, 1 TD to none...you want to rag on Switzer for 1 fumble. How you like seeing 5 fumbles opposed to 1?

I hear ya, "Tavon is a much better return guy than Switzer". LOL...if Switzer did nothing according to you please do tell, what did Tavon do?

All I saw was Switzer walking around holding Dez's pocket.
He had a nice punt return against the 'skins. He also cost us a game
and shrugged it off without holding himself accountable.

My guess is someone in Oakland will mistake him for a fan and shank him somewhere.

Ok, that changes my position on that then. Maybe we can get something out of him like the purple drinker and the LB that had one or 2 good years with us and then left us.
