Why do you hate Henson?

I don't think it's an agenda, the fans that truly hate him are just angry we wasted a 3rd round pick on the guy.....

Every team, every year, wastes draft picks.

So if anyone truly hates him and are angry because of the pick, they are angry at the status quo, and are ridiculous in their thinking.

He can talk a mean game and say all the right things, but if he were good at baseball and the Yankees stuck with him instead of pawning him off to the Reds for a sack of baseballs, I doubt he would be a football player. If he turns out good, then that is great, if not oh well, there will be no love lost.

Get a clue. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't comment. The Yankees traded him to the Reds in 2000 because Henson wouldn't commit to Yanks 100%. Steinbrenner wanted him to leave Michigan and devote his time 100% to baseball, Henson wouldn't do that at the time. The Yanks were ticked and traded him to the Reds. They knew this would tick off Henson, since the only team in baseball he wanted to play for was the Yanks. He became close with a few Yanks and I know Jeter and Posada headed up to Ann Arbor and caught a game from the sidelines a few times when Henson was QB there. Also, they didn't get a sack of baseballs for him either, they got a pretty decent LH pitcher in Denny Neagle.

When the Yanks thought that they could offer Henson big bucks to leave Michigan and the Reds knew that the only team he would leave Michigan for was the Yanks, the Reds sent him back to the Yanks for a pretty good prospect in Wily Mo Pena, who is now with the Red Sox. So get your facts straight.

I think the fact that he chose baseball for so long over football is a big thing for me. His heart is nowhere in this game like many, he could easily flake again. I mean how is this any different then Ricky Williams chosing a sabatical?

So is the fact that he barely ever started a college game.

The Bears game where he was pulled by a legendary coach in favor of an injuried eldery person, plays alot into this too.

Oh hell I could go on and on and on.

But the main reason, I like girls. :p: I don't have the compacity to love a grown man to the same degree as some of you, I guess. Sorry. :)

Well, he DID start 7 games, and was quite good at lobbing it up to David Terrell. Alot of people still put faith in that rediculous scouting report that said he would have been a first overall selection because who needs to think when an 'expert' can do it for you.

Hmmm...Listen to the Opinion of JustSayNotoTO or Ron Wolf.

Wow, tough call on those to great football minds.

I said 'the fans' that hate him.....I didn't say that I hate him personally.....I'm just more astute than others and realize that Henson wouldn't be in NFLE if he was a legit, starting calibur NFL QB. Also I'm not fooled by his mediorce performance over in Europe either. Henstud might end up making a fine back up someday in the NFL, but it won't be for the cowboys.

You call it man love, but in reality it's enthusiasm.....I'm excited that we have one of the all time greats leading this team. And even though he's not fresh out of washington state anymore, he's still only 34 and has at least 3 very good seasons left if he stays healthy and is surrounded with sufficient talent on offense.

I want to win now.....not later.

Glad you think your more "Astute". Nothing like basically saying you are smarter than the rest of us about football. I'm smarter than you and the argument should just end there.

You have a strong opinion against Henson, I have a strong opinion against Bledsoe. I just don't have faith that Bledsoe is the man. His lack of mobility and lack of pocket presence has and always will be his Achilles heel.

Fresh blood is needed here, just like it was in NE to take us to the promised land.

Can't wait for the day when you change your tag line to Henstud !

see, this is where i gotta roll my eyes.

henson is anything but a lock. but, from the moment he landed in Dallas, a faction of the fanbase started spouting words like "pedigree" - which, if they're talkin' 'bout his college football career, ain't really all that overwhelming. certainly not enuff to make me feel henson was entitled to anything more than a tryout. so some of you will have to excuse the rest of us if we're not ready to throw the crown of laurels at his feet.

i don't wish henson to fail. given our teams' QB situation over these last many years - how stupid would that be? i just wish fans would try to keep their feet on the ground when they talk about the guy. cuz if he was "all that and a bag of chips"... romo would be working on the golf game full-time. instead, romo is #2 to bledsoe's top banana - and henson is enjoying world-class sauerbraten.

i'll give henson this. he has the size you want in an NFL QB. nice arm strength, too. and he seems like a decent, intelligent, and motivated kid. but the biggest question remains... can he play NFL QB?

this whole thing is all about perspective. many fans have lost theirs... and some never had it to begin with. if were lucky... henson will maintain his.

i don't think any Cowboys fans hate drew henson. some are just highly annoyed at what we perceive as a sense of entitlement where henson is concerned.

we feel he should earn anything he gets. including praise - much of which, IMO, has been unwarranted.

I don't hate Henson....he's simply failed and isn't the long term answer in Dallas. Even if he finds away to hang around the depth charts, he's still under tremdous pressure to perform on a level comparable to the 'other' Drew playing QB ahead of him.

So in your book a QB gets 1 chance and 1 chance only, if you put him on the field and he does not get it done from the get go he is a failure? Trying to underdstand your rational.

Sense of entitlement???

From whom?

Certainly not Henson.

A sense of entitlement and playing in NFLE are not consistent.

Now if you wanna jump on the fans who feel he should be handed a job, that's all well and good.

Yeah...good thing the same approach wasn't utilized with Staubach...who wasn't exactly effective in the beginning. In fact, it took Landry a few years to decide between Morton (a very average QB who came up short ALL the time in big spots) and Staubach.

I agree. Thus far Henson has started 1 game in a season where I felt he should not have seen the field but sit back and learn after all we are not talking about a guy who came right out of college but a player who had been away from the game. When Dallas signed him and gave him an 8 year deal I looked at that as time to shake off the rust and begin his development process. This will be his 3rd season coming up and currently he is getting some live action in NFLE and has been doing well and I'm not sure any more could have been asked of him at this stage.

Neither was Troy, people here would have been screaming to get rid of that "injury prone" QB.

On the nosey.

He's a developmental guy. That's the framework.

The "haters" jump on the one game he started. Fact of the matter is...it was his first start in years...on a short week for Thanksgiving...in front of a national audience....and he was supposed to tear things up?

Please.

I was at that game and at least in my eyes the speed of the game overwhelmed Henson and that in my mind was not a surprise. As I said year 1 after being away the best thing in my mind would have been to let him sit and learn. I think as the game starts to slow down for him we will start to see the abilities that made many scouts think he was worthy of being an overall #1.

Yep. What on earth could the expectations have been for the guy?

And I'll tell ya, it was an AWFUL statement about Romo that Henson saw the field that day.

Ya see, I'm much more po'ed about Romo than Henson. Evidently Romo, who played an entire college career, was so unimpressive that we were forced to start a kid who had 8 college starts and hadn't seen action in 3 years.

And people want to bash Henson???
