Why does the offense look so much different with another QB?

6 points, 10 points then 20 points in a game that was as crazy as it gets. The Cowboys are struggling to score points with Rush too. I don't see a difference.
I thought the offensive coaching looked better against the Commanders.Motion really helped yesterday, it seems like the coaching on offense is not as good when Dak is playing. That was a good game plan on offense by McCarthy, let's hope he keeps it up.

So damn close, until the end. Oh, you don't fool me, of course it was a defense of Dak. I know your game.

So, get to the back of the line where you belong.
no, you see what you want to see. if its not pooping on Dak 365x7x24x60x60, then you are a dak fan and you are defending him. you have Dak on your mind all the time.

you are obsessed by Dak, can't think eat, drink, sit, drive or do anything without thinking about Dak. he is living in your head rent free. you dread the day he is gone from the cowboys because your life will be meaningless. what are you going to do then? tick tock tick tock

This pretty much covers it. Rush does not have the physical attributes (i.e. arm strength) that you need to be an upper echelon NFL quarterback.
But from a mental aspect in terms of being able to properly read the defense, go through progressions, and identify where the ball should go and also to maintain poise under pressure, he is miles ahead of Dak. And Dak has been learning on the job for close to 9 years now

I also think your leadership comment is very accurate. Despite what we hear from certain segments of this forum, I have never bought and will never buy this idea that Dak is some unbelievable leader who has command of that locker room.

I think a lot of guys in the locker room gave up on him a long time ago.
There are a lot of starting QBs in this league that could use Rush's football IQ.

Of course it's two different players, but Dak was known for having more athletic abilities than Rush, yet every game we've seen rush in this year, he's been in the pistol??

I'm not trying to make this into a diss Dak thread, I just think there's elements to this offense that seem to work better with Rush in there. The game plan seems much better, the plays seem better. I'm not sure why we don't do these kinds of things with Dak. Please give me your thoughts
I think it's natural to adjust the game plan to fit the QB you have. McCarthy has been good at that in his career.

However, I'll agree with those who said better blocking contributed to a better outcome. Penalties and pressure change the game. We also seemed to run the ball better behind that blocking, which makes defenses have to focus more on defending the run.

Honestly I think Mike has opened up the offense a little bit more NOT because Rush is better than Dak but because he has to in order to win. Mike is now coaching for pride and maybe a job opportunity next year. He's trying to do things to help Rush be successful so Mike can go out on a high note.
Maybe McCarthy should coach the same way when DAK is playing, and maybe we would not be 4-7 just a thought, it is like McCarthy coaches better when the team is weaker in personnel.

It almost feels like Mccarthy thinks now that the starter is out we actually have to help the backup by calling good plays lol. It also helped that they finally acknowledged that Rico is RB1 instead of the committee nonsense.

The offensive line protected Rush. That was the difference.

we will see if he does, this week we have a great chance to play our "Best" game against a team that is seriously all in on the #1 pick in the draft...after that i feel like there are no more ex DC's on the schedule until we play Wash again...

I really don't like winning this season, at all. I was hoping they would lose the rest of the way, only for top draft choices, but then again, with Jerra at the table, the picks would just be busts anyway. Oh, well...

But surely you don't actually think he's calling worse plays with Dak in there...

Which leads to what else could be causing the difference.

why cant it be what it has been all season, who we are playing ...maybe....is it really a stretch to think this week will be our "Best" game, why would that be?

I actually do think that. The only caveat is potentially Dak is audibling too much and getting out what Mike is trying to do as a playcaller.
