Why the extreme points of view on Dak?

The second time Dak has created the need for a whole dedicated 'zone' for discussion.

Agree we don't need multiple threads a day on this piece of trash.

It’s the fans like you who keep bashing him for why we need a Dak zone. Any fan who would call him trash wasn’t following the Cowboys when they actually had trash at QB. Those years led to a number of losing seasons and only one playoff appearance.

I understand the various schools of thought on Dak (pro and con) but what I can’t quite wrap my mind around is that people ignore the cap implications of a Dak extension.

I would say that MOST intelligent people realize that most people would want Dak to stick around for a low enough cap hit and most would want Dak to go away at a high enough cap number. The rubber meeting the road with Dak is mostly his cap impact going forward.

The worst situation with Dak isn’t keeping Dak or trading Dak away, or letting Dak walk away in free agency. The worst situation is wrecking the cap with a Dak signing so badly that the team has no chance of competing for a SB with Dak’s cap number.

You can argue at what point the cap number gets too prohibitive to keep Dak but based on the evidence we have in front of us (no Dak extension) that Dak’s demands exceed what the organization thinks that number is.

Good and fair assessment. You're spot on it does come down to money and if Dak was willing to accept a reasonable contract with incentives for playoff success I'm sure you would have many more onboard.

Is it possible that GM Jethro is going to let this year play out then resign Dak, CD and Micah next year, back load all their contracts and then go all in on FA's to make a 2 to 3 year run???

I dont know anything about what is doable and what isnt...

But that would make sense...you would have all 3 in their primes.

Assuming they can manipulate the books enough to add quality starters/depth.

If it doesnt work...blow it up.

It just seems strange to me to blow it up without going completely all in first.

It makes no sense at all. They look completely inept at this point. Years of poor decisions culminated into a giant ball of crap when a little common sense would've made a huge difference.

Sure but the Cowboys are holding firm seeing their last signing's mistake. Dak can improve. It is unlikely at his age but MM has a track record working with older QBs and elevating their games.

Failing that and a repeat of last years performance or worse is unlikely to see that unless Dak lowers his asking price significantly.

The league needs to stand firm and not pay second tier QBs top tier prices. That is the reality now for the past 8 years or so. At that point it is not a point about giving a discount but the buyers of the market pulling their head out of their backsides and bringing sanity to the market.

What they have done this off season is definitely not what they normally do. Something is definitely different this off season.

Just because the OTC cap calculator says they can extend all the roster for an all in does not make it good policy.

I take it with a grain of salt whenever he says that. If Dallas got rid of Dak I have no doubt he would try to burn the entire state of Texas down in protest.

Eagles cannot be feeling good about hurts deal and their are a litany of deals signed the past few years that franchises have indicated serious buyers remorse in retrospect. Not so many stories going the other way.
