Williams and Pickens one year wonders?

I do believe you have a point, there. Williams can easily be cut and replaced in the draft, while Pickens is signed to his expensive contract. That should the best way this team can afford him. It'd be nice to have both, but you can't always have it all. There'll likely be very good RBs to be had in the draft.
Holy Larry, why is everyone underrating Williams so bad? Dude is rare, and the reason our O is humming along. His extreme skillset slows down the pass rush mightily.

Seriously, is this more of that BSPN spew, the belief that RBs are a dime a dozen and easily replaced? Show me all these RBs w/ power, burst, lateral agility, and speed. Who are they?

I didn’t say he would. I’m saying if he would. Running back market will be cheap. You can draft someone or you can sign another Javonte’s. I don’t see any scenario where anyone breaks the bank for him.
How are so many people so bad at evaluating RBs? Honestly, it makes no sense.

Javonte is a rare talent. There's maybe 5 or 6 RBs in the NFL to compare.

Put in Phil Mafah for a bit and you'll immediately see.

If you think it's that easy to find a top five running back then I have some sad news for you. Outside of Zeke and Demarco, how many top five running backs has Dallas had in the last thirty years?
Unfortunately, Jerry buys into this ridiculous ideas that RBs are easily found and have very little value.

It's just shocking to me how many have listened to BSPN and bought into it. C'mooooooooon, people think. That idea has been blown out of the water, let it go.

Well no one is saying go from Javonte to a 7th rounder.

It’s about talent and roster building. I’m prioritizing signing Pickens over Javonte. I believe I can find a running back in the draft. I have less faith in finding a receiver as good as Pickens. Also worth noting Miles Sanders averaged 5 yards a carry….

Sanders is a good speed back. Not surprising. We actually had great quality at RB, looks like Blue is going to succed in Sanders' place, luckily.

People have so quickly forgotten what it was like w/o a good RB. Williams is a big part of what's making this O go. I would love to keep Pickens, but I'd keep Javonte for 10 millionish over Pickens for 35.

As an added plus, Williams goes a long way toward keeping a D fresh.

Both are extremely important, BTW. Pickens adds the big play element that Ceedee isn't great at.

The other piece to think about is how much easier is it to run the football with two elite perimeter players holding the safety’s back?

I believe our run blocking scheme with Adam’s is a big part in why our run game is flourishing. Also our big play ability so we don’t face stacked boxes.

I'm merely speculating on what might happen in the event they feel inclined to do this thing soon. I'm not saying that's the only way to resolve the problem, though. It would probably require a high pick to accomplish equaling whatever Williams might be able to do later. Every draft usually has a couple.

Granted, he's still relatively young and should last another year or two before he declines or gets badly injured. He's a type that takes lots of hits with his running style and gets limited career time.

If Dallas wants to resign them they will. They are financially in position to do it. I don’t see either of these guys leaving TBH. I see Pickens getting top money here and Williams getting a decent deal that will work for both sides. Both have been productive players since entering the league.

Our organization deserves accolades for bringing both in. Probably our best off season acquisitions in years.

We actually have a top 5 RB this year currently 2nd in rushing. What a great signing. But the longer he stays on top the higher his contract is going to be.

Same goes for Pickens who I suspected would be a 1 year rental. Arguably our best WR tandem since 90’s with Irvin and Harper. True first round talent on both sides.

We saved millions in Cap space trading Parsons. The more success they have this season the higher the price. Get a deal done now. End of season will be too late or expensive.
Actually, the 47 mil we saved on Parsons. Those savings should be able to cover Pickens, Williams and a nice trade deadline pickup.

Use the money they’re saving from not paying parsons and bring these two back. Use the 2 first, 2nd and 3rd round up next year on defence. This year is a wash. It’d be a waste to trade any draft picks for a rental. I still believe the only way this team ever wins a Super Bowl with Dak is if we build an elite defense. Yes he is playing well now but we all know the track record come playoff time.

Blocking is always a big part of any RBs success, but so is the quality of the RB. Hard to find one as good as J.

Man, it’s some kind of fun watching Pickens play. No idea what the issue was in Pitt, but he’s apparently fixed it (if it was ever his fault to begin with). We’re fortunate with to have 2 WR1s on the field at the same time.

GP was good before. As mentioned, he just didn’t have a QB or even play in a well defined offense.

He’s a special player and a serious team finds a way to keep special players.
