Growing up a Cowboys fan, this had to be a dream come true for him.
I've heard Carolina might be looking at him early in round 2.I really won't be surprised if we trade up slightly to get him. Everyone has to know by now that he's our target, so if we stand pat, some other team will jump in front of us if they want him. Hopefully we can trade up without giving up one of the thirds.
I can see Van Pran being on of our 3rdsI don't want to wait until the fifth round to try to find our next center. That lowers your chances of accomplishing that goal.
If he's gone, then I hope either Frazier or JPJ makes it to 56. I'm not a big fan of taking back-to-back linemen, but I would. That would make 73 our RB pick.I've heard Carolina might be looking at him early in round 2.
Dallas needs to be patient and see who falls to them, IMO.
SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARYTyler Guyton:
PROS
CONS
- Great athlete
- Huge frame with long arms- great for a T
- Quick feet for pass protection
- Lots of upside
- Only started 14 games in college as a T
- Will probably need some time to develop.
- Not a plug and play guy
I dont think Mazi was last year. Not sure about Tyler, but Lamb wasn't one of our Zoom "visits" in 2020. 30 isnt the absolute indicator of who they are looking at it once wasI find it strange that he wasn't one of the 30 visits.
Signing players no one else wants always works out well. I’m with you 100%.I've heard Carolina might be looking at him early in round 2.
Dallas needs to be patient and see who falls to them, IMO.
I think we missed on the next Jim OttoCould have probably taken him at 24 but get a high third round pick to trade down and get him.
I'm not opposed to it if JPJ and Frazier are gone. I'm really intrigued by Kansas OL Dominick Puni, though. As a former tackle and guard, I think he'd bring more power to the center position than some of the mid-round centers. Van Pran probably will be just as good as or better than Biadasz, though, so I'm not against it.I can see Van Pran being on of our 3rds
Voch not a fan but remember he hated the other Tyler too
Well, that makes him different from most of our guys.6. TYLER GUYTON, Oklahoma (6-7 ½, 330, 5.21, 1-2): Fourth-year junior. “If you watch the Florida State game he actually dominated (Jared) Verse,” one scout said. “He kicked his ***. Absolutely dominated him. But he only steps up for big games. He went down to the Senior Bowl and stepped up.
Other people's rankings doesn't mean much to me. I prefer judging players based on their performances and against the type of competition on average...Mel Kiper:
Offensive Tackles
1. Joe Alt, Notre Dame
2. JC Latham, Alabama
3. Olu Fashanu, Penn State
4. Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State
5. Amarius Mims, Georgia
6. Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma
7. Jordan Morgan, Arizona
8. Roger Rosengarten, Washington
9. Kingsley Suamataia, BYU
10. Patrick Paul, Houston
11. Blake Fisher, Notre Dame
12. Christian Jones, Texas
NFL Expert Consensus Board ranking has Guyton at 28 and Jones at 95.
You would if you knew how to find hidden gems in the middle rounds while using early round picks on playmakers in need. Too bad the Cowboys don't, and it shows with their current situation.I don't want to wait until the fifth round to try to find our next center. That lowers your chances of accomplishing that goal.
Exactly right, Nobody hits on every pick, no team does.He also drafted lamb parsons Diggs… bland…All of our olineman. dak….Lawrence. Our team has always had talent it’s coaching its lacked.
Every team has several draft busts… it’s the nature of the business.
Christian Jones performed better against tougher defenses on average than Tyler Guyton did. Plus, Christian Jones has experience and been successful playing both Right and Left Tackle, whereas Guyton struggled badly in 2022 playing at Left Tackle before switching over to Right Tackle in 2023 yet still not performing as good as Jones did.We both know they covet massive potential. You probably can find a better day-1 starter, but what kind of player will they be in year 2, 3, 4, etc? Guyton can play well at a high level today, and has only played the position for three years. He's proven he is coachable and adaptable. He's barely scratched the surface, and his ceiling is through the stratosphere. He fills a need now and offers potential greatness in the future. They already traded down once. There was no need to again when their target was in front of them.
I heard the Lions originally said 4th round but communicated the wrong signal and it became a 3rd. Campbell is pretty upset at the draft officiating.Lions didn’t have a 4th and Arnold must have really been their guy!
