For a 2021 2nd rounder?
I could see a team like GB or SF wanting to trade for him.
Or do you want to keep the depth since he is under contract for this season and next?
Dallas can get out of the Amari Cooper contract after 2021 as it is structured as such:
2020 Cap Hit $12M Dead Money $40M
2021 Cap Hit $22M Dead Money $28M
2022 Cap Hit $22M Dead Money $6M
2023 Cap Hit $22M Dead Money $4M
2024 Cap Hit $22M Dead Money $2M
If Gallup continues to improve and Lamb shows he is a solid
#1 or
#2 WR then Dallas could trade Cooper after the 2021 campaign season and save a lot of money which could then go towards resigning Gallup given Gallup's deal ends after the 2021 season.
With Lamb locked up through 2025 (including the rookie 5th year option) Dallas is in a good position regarding their WR's.
Also keep in mind Zeke Elliott's contract:
2020 Cap Hit $10.9M Dead Money $35.4M
2021 Cap Hit $13.7M Dead Money $24.5M
2022 Cap Hit $16.5M Dead Money $10.8M
2023 Cap Hit $15M Dead Money $6.7M
2024 Cap Hit $12.6M Dead Money $2.6M
2025 Cap Hit $15.4M Dead Money $0
2026 Cap Hot $16.6M Dead Money $0
So if BOTH Cooper (after the 2021 season) and Zeke (after the 2022 season) are traded/released, then Dallas is looking at the following cap savings starting in 2022:
2022 $16M saved (Cooper)
2023 $30.3M saved (Cooper & Zeke)
2024 $34.6M saved (Cooper & Zeke)
2025 $15.4M saved (Zeke)
2026 $16.6M saved (Zeke)
While both players would be missed and any saved money would go towards Gallup possibly or other free agents, that is still a lot of money to be saved if the moves are made.
