Eww. Lesnar.

They need to drop about 3/4ths of those stupid girls they show on tv & put together some huge deal for this Punk guy who I am dying to see.

Tell him we'll pay you millions to be on once every 2 months or however they do with Brock. Give him whatever he wants. Get rid of Stephanie & her 100 appearances per show.

They cannot be so desperate to not see that having her close out their cable show just isn't good business.

Seriously guys do you care about her in a match with that twin? I don't.

They have guys back there that can entertain & they put her on?

Btw I thought that Miz guy was funny Monday wearing sunglasses on RAW.

WWE Network Subscriber Count Disappoints

WWE announced today that as of June 30, the end of the second quarter, the WWE Network subscriber count was at about 700,000. While the nature of the hard sell for the network on WWE programming as of late led to a lot of speculation that it would be a disappointing number, most predictions that I saw were closer to 750,000. They've gained less than 33,000 subscribers since WrestleMania 30 back in April.

Well, sort of.

This is what they actually wrote:

The quarter was highlighted by the ongoing ramp up of WWE Network, which attracted gross additions of 161,000 subscribers since WrestleMania on April 6th and ended the quarter at 700,000 subscribers, reflecting a net addition of 33,000 subscribers.

In other words, WWE Network has actually had about 828,000 paid subscribers to date, but 128,000 of them dropped off when their payment methods failed for one reason or another. On the investors' call (which Dave Meltzer did a great job summarizing atF4WOnline.com), WWE CFO George Barrios said that the "churn" (non-renewal percentage) was similar to other subscription services, but those aren't supposed to have a six month commitment.

This is a VERY long article. Scanning over it the takeaway I got was the international rollout in a couple of weeks better be pretty successful.

It doesn't seem like that network was such a great idea. It actually doesn't hurt my feelings much when a billionaire loses a few hundred million dollars. :p

Major WWE Layoffs Expected Soon

Tomorrow (7/31), WWE will announce their Second Quarter 2014 financial results, including an updated number of subscribers to the WWE Network.

WWE’s stock got absolutely crushed earlier this year when it was announced that the WWE Network had less than 700,000 subscribers and their TV deal with NBC Universal came in substantially lower than the company was telling investors they would receive.

It’s been widely reported that WWE will be making drastic cuts to their budget this year and the company is already taking pre-emptive measures to offset potential negative backlash following Thursday’s investor conference call.

According to PWInsider.com, up to 10% of the WWE’s employees will be laid off soon to show Wall Street that they are making serious efforts to cut costs.

Ricardo Rodriguez Confirms His Release from WWE

Ricardo Rodriguez has officially been let go by WWE. The company announced his release on WWE.com Wednesday.

"WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Ricardo Rodriguez as of today, July 30, 2014," the official statement read. "WWE wishes Ricardo Rodriguez the best in all of his future endeavors."

Rodriguez tweeted out his gratitude toward WWE for the four years he spent with the company:

"I have come to terms with WWE on my release. I want to thank them for a great 4 years. But I miss wrestling"

This comes after PWInsider.com's Dave Scherer reported that layoffs would be coming in WWE. In order to appease stockholders, WWE could let as many as 10 percent of its employees go.

So their current course is obviously not "good for business."

I've done a tiny bit of reading on Vince McMahon. I have to say I'm not impressed. He kind of comes across as a blowhard but I guess he's perfect for that business.

Never heard of Ricardo Rodriguez but I'm sorry he lost his job.

I hope after that dumb match between Stephanie & that twin they take her off tv. She annoys the hell out of me.

I don't think the "windfall" from international subscribers is going to happen. I think a lot of those folks are already getting the programming by hook or by crook.

Bottom line, the corporation misread the demand for this particular product (the monthly subscription)...

Hey it happens.

I feel for the traveling crew that handles all of the ring / arena setup needed for the production. Apparently WWE will no longer provide them corporate transportation (a bus that they could sleep in while traveling to the next city overnight), and everyone will be responsible for getting to the next location on their own. Things like that are what I'm hearing are happening.

He's failed at every business venture that was not pro wrestling. World BodyBuilding Federation, XFL, Linda's political campaign, etc....all colossal financial failures.

He knows how to market and promote pro wrestling. He's by far better than anybody than any other wrestling promoter that ever existed.

The issue for him is that with the WWE being a publicly traded company, the Board of Directors and analysts are going to want him to expand the business and brand outside the pro wrestling realm.

I feel for the crew as well, but that is how they used to do things. They would hire a local crew to set up the ring.

I was thinking that it's too bad this network thingy wasn't around when the territory system was still going strong (not that you would get everyone to agree).

How great it would have been to see a main event show from Florida one night. From St. Louis another. From Dallas still another.

And all would have a totally different roster.

What I've read (for what it's worth) is Lesner wins at SummerSlam then loses to Reigns at Wrestlemania.

JMO but the news on Bryan isn't good and right now I'd say the chances of him returning are 50/50 at best and that is being very generous. And I don't think Punk is ever returning.

I could see Reigns beating him and being the new monster at WM. That is totally believable.

I am concerned about Bryan and that sucks a great deal but I actually do think at some point Punk will return. I just think he's going to want to give it at least one more go and do so for a proper send off run.

Bo & Bray sure do favor each other. They should put those brothers together like they do with the others.

Btw is it just me but is Randy Orton boring to anyone else? His wrestling is ok but he just bores me. His badass act is just too much.

Funny you asked this because I was watching and reading some wrestling stuff yesterday online, it's news and rumors stuff, and apparently Randy Orton is in hot water right now with the WWE because of the way he's doing business with Reigns on house shows and stuff. Apparently Randy is, from the reports, in trouble because he's intentionally wrestling in boring ways, and styles, to try and kill heat on Reigns.

I have a dumb question. What is a house show?

Randy Orton is boring to me. He talks like he's been kicked in the head too many times.

One of Vince, and wrestling in general to be perfectly honest, biggest issues is that there is zero competition.

WWE was always, and is always, at it's absolute best when it has some sort of stiff competition that they have to go head to head with for ratings and wrestlers and everything.

TNA has never been actual competition. It's useless and ran by morons who have no clue how to run a wrestling company. Without a real company to compete with the WWE you're going to continue to see the WWE going backwards and losing money.

House shows are live events that are not televised.

These guys you see wrestle every Monday and Friday are also wrestling some where Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

They're wrestling some place all the time putting on live events that are not televised.

Your top guys (Cena, Reigns, Orton, Wyatt, etc) are on the road, and wrestling, 300+ days a year.

Thx. I knew they were always busy but never heard of a house show.,

That's really a crazy schedule. I feel sorry for their families. Their kids in particular.

And that's partially why drug and alcohol abuse are so rampant.
