It doesn't have to be illegal for the league to suspend.

The league can, literally, suspend for whatever reason without any consistency because the players union was dumb enough to agree to those terms.

I know this, but that fact is that they haven't so there is no precedent.

Oh give me a break. The only thing that stuck was pulling a woman's shirt down and a speeding ticket. Yes, a speeding ticket....

Everything else was proven to be false.

I am not saying they should suspend for those type of things or even pay attention to it. But in light of what the league is trying to do, its on the border of what they will suspend for.

I do, too. But since there's zero legitimate basis for a suspension based off of what *is* known, if a long suspension comes down, there pretty much has to be something to justify it. Right?

Every decision has some sort of justification.

Whether that justification is actually reasonable is another question entirely.

Honestly, with the NFL's image problems, I think 6 games is probably more PR than anything. They could know full well Zeke will challenge and get it reduced, but the league will look "tough" by "making an example" out of a high profile player.

Only Cowboy fans will care about the reduction, everyone else will just hear 6 games.

This means another year and another excuse for Garett. Another free pass. If all systems we're go and no suspensions or injuries I truly believed this was a real important year for Jason with the expectations what they are. However one again for pretty much the 3rd year in a row he has an excuse. This suspension is going to hurt this team. It's a huge blow. My guess he gets 6 and we appeal down to 4. This whole thing is frustrating. This is going to hurt this team. I know most of you think his team is great and overcome most things. I disagree. This team has way too many holes on defense to be great. Our offense is our strength but losing your best player does not help for however many games. I hate when people say our O line is so good it does matter who is in the backfield. That's nonsense. Elliott is a beast. Our theat of a dominate running game is non exsistent without him. This now is a huge test for dak. Let's see how it plays out

Exactly.

The excuse making for Elliott's issues is mindnumbing to me. He clearly puts himself in bad situations and it opens himself up to issues with the NFL like he is facing now.

Those are good odds far as Im concerned. Forgive me for being snide, I just dont like to speak in absolutes. Always and never are usually a set up. So proclaiming we wont win the superbowl anyways is a little silly. Hope springs eternal this time of year. While I wouldn't bet against the field I like our chances with half a dozen other teams.

That is my personal opinion. They wont win the SB. And if you think 10-15% odds are good, then by all means wish away. Ask me a mid season and those odds might improve.

The problem with the Cowboys is their ability to win the SB is dependent on how good the defense, pass rush, and secondary can improve dramatically. Not great odds there. And then you have the Garrett crunch time coaching factor.

Garrett always manages a solid excuse, I have to give him that lol.

By that standard, Odell Beckham should be facing a suspension as well.

Being in the news and accused of something is now reason enough to punish.

Sad.

-Accused of Domestic Violence
-caught pulling girls boobs out in public
-speeding ticket over 100
-involved in a bar fight

Am I missing anything?

We'll see how it plays out. Something's weird with this one, with Jerry and Stephen publicly sure there's no suspension and unnamed reports suggesting otherwise and that it will be quite long.

If there's a legit basis, fine. If there's nothing but what we've heard already or they just resort to citing confidential evidence, it's going to rightly be a PR shitstorm.

With the league ratings issue as significant as it was early last year, this seems a silly time to be antagonizing Cowboys fans and Jerry Jones, though.

when i first saw six i saw it as well they know he will contest and they will drop it down to maybe two. with that said thats now the going rate for any player who a girl brings up accusations against and even if they are cleared. false accusations equals 6 games from now. it wont stick. youll see other players get falsely accused and itll be dealt with swiftly im sure of it.

Not a bad idea. NFL shouldn't be punishing players that haven't been convicted of a crime.

Exactly.

If they allow this, where does it end?

A lack of evidence is now reason for guilt?

Not right. Stop them now. Not only for this player, but future players as well.

I'm all for proper discipline, but this is not it.
