This is a farce, if true.

You can't punish other players for your own lack of discipline and subsequent publicity crises in previous cases.

Exactly.

The excuse making for Elliott's issues is mindnumbing to me. He clearly puts himself in bad situations and it opens himself up to issues with the NFL like he is facing now.

It's not excuse making. The question is whether or not Elliot has done things that have earned other players suspensions previously or not.

There's no disputing that he behaves like a child and puts himself in bad situations.

And, yes, the league has carte blanche with the conduct detrimental to the league language. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be consequences for the abusing it.

Should be an investigation on the boat trip before the packer game, you know because of rumors and all

Heck, you don't even have to go to the off the field stuff. You could justify a suspension for the on field activity alone. There's clear evidence of his wrongdoing there.

OK, Roger, now is the time. On my sign, unleash hell.

Roger, I know you let us keep Josh Brent on our team after killing another Cowboy, think you can let this one slide?

Pulling a woman's shirt down is sexual assault.

Zeke gotta grow up and stop being an idiot.

I don't defend what he did but if if consent is given, it is not sexual assault. That is a word that shouldn't be used lightly.

We don't know their conversation at the time, we don't know their relationship. We know she gave a surprised facial expression, she flashed herself shortly before and after the event and she never tried to press charges.

if you think Elliot being out for 2 or more games with the young defense wont change this season lots then don't know what to tell you he is close to being the best player on the team this is a run first team without zeke for 4 to 6 games and the young defense this is pretty much a 8 win team even with dak bill bellicheat is not coaching this team.

Context matters, especially when it comes to these huge life changing charges. The girl did not seem to have a big issue with it as she was a friend of Zeke, continued to party with Zeke throughout the day and remained friends afterwards. Was it stupid and Zeke needs to grow up, yeah. But calling it assault while knowing the full story is hyperbole and reckless.

The Beiber boat party comes to mind. If that was Zeke I can imagine the noise.

Yeah, is that really in the realm of the recurring problems that Elliott has had off the field? I don't believe so.

I suspect if the only thing Elliott did or the only situation he found himself in off the field was a boozey, druggy boat party, we wouldn't be worrying about a suspension right now.

We'll see how it plays out. Something's weird with this one, with Jerry and Stephen publicly sure there's no suspension and unnamed reports suggesting otherwise and that it will be quite long.

If there's a legit basis, fine. If there's nothing but what we've heard already or they just resort to citing confidential evidence, it's going to rightly be a PR ****storm.

With the league ratings issue as significant as it was early last year, this seems a silly time to be antagonizing Cowboys fans and Jerry Jones, though.

It is weird. Agreed.

In my opinion, the weekend of negative PR about the incident would quite easily be worth it to the league. This would be a pretty big move in trying to restore their image, after the disasters handling previous DV cases. A ton of football fans hate the Cowboys. They're not going to lose any sleep over it.

I know what you're trying to say about ratings, but I honestly have no idea what Jerry and the Boys could or would do about that. Cowboys games are still going to draw top ratings, Jerry isn't going to tell people not to watch.

This whole thing is pretty lame.

Not sure what you mean by that?
You know Brent was suspended after serving a prison stint, right?
Not like the NFL didn't punish Josh Brent for his actions. Unless you think they should of permanently banned him.
Got hit with a 10 game suspension after being reinstated almost 2 years later.

What has Beckham done off the field?

His boat trip for one. There's as much substance there as anything they appear to have on Zeke.

Only because they still would be investigating it.

To clarify my points here. One, I believe if the 6 games comes down (barring any new evidence/events we don't know about), the NFL has overstepped their bounds here to send a message. Nothing better than taking the most popular team and one of their most popular players and dropping a hammer on him to send a message.

But on the flip side, the real reason we are here is that Elliott has acted like a moron off the field since coming into the league. In the end, any suspension that sticks is largely his fault, not the league's, Goodell's, etc.
