For those of you that watched the Steelers game and will watch the Bears game-Can you see the difference in those 2 defense compared too Dallas?

These defenses are aggresive and cause turnovers unlike Zimmers defense.

Yeah especially the Steelers D is very tricky and well disguised on who is blitzing. they mixed it up well and thats why they confused the heck out of Manning. thats a real 3-4 D not what we showed this last year with players on O knowing who was blitzing and not mixing things up

hmmm, maybe it's Pitt's great familiarity with the 3-4 compared to our 1st year in it?

If Mike Zimmer was the Steelers DC the Steelers woulda lost big today. Manning woulda been good for at least 400 yards and 5 TDs.


I look at how the Steelers DC had a game plan for the Colts and pressured Manning all day and I just shake my head wonderin *** this team is doin wastin time with that moron Zimmer. Fire him now and just get Capers here.

Capers would give us a D like the Steelers have. Mike Zimmer SUCKS!

I don't think we have the LB's to be that aggressive in the 3-4. In a 3-4 defense, the LB's make most of the plays and rush the QB etc.

Now, if we went and got say....(UFA WILL WITHERSPOON!!!)...that would change IMO.

good point, and who were our OLBs for most of the year? a rookie making the transition from college DE, and a young, veteran who never played in the 3-4 ever

in the middle? a 1st year starter

Because Zimmer SUCKS.......He JUST learned the 3-4 last year...That is like comparing a first grade graduate to a College professor with a doctorate.

That is EXACTLY why we need Dom Capers in here running the defense...

Someone how knows the full capabilities of the 3-4 not just the basics...

Here's hoping we can correct the personnel problem this offseason. We need to be able present the total package if we are to be successful

we got another year, and more after that to work on getting the right talent

Jerry has brought him talent, we have drafted talent and our players we dont bring back seem to do better in other schemes. Omar Stoutmire(Sp) not saying he was an all pro but he played better in a different scheme. With the Giants he was nasty.

Houston's defense gave up 348 FD, 5824 yards, 50 TD, had 37 sacks and 7 INT, with a TOP of 31:50.

Pittsburgh 275 FD, 4544 yards, 27 TD, 47 sacks, 15 INT, TOP of 28:44.

Dallas 256 FD, 4814 yards, 35 TDs, 37 sacks, 15 INT, TOP 27:36.

Something of note is Pittsburgh's LBs had 28.5 sacks compared to 16 for Dallas, we actually matched up very well stat-wise with the Steelers.

New scheme, a ton of new players, half our LBs end up on IR and we held our own.

Here's a clue...

What you are missin is this. Some coaches are greate DCs or OCs but never make good HCs. Capers looks like a great DC but a guy who will never be a good HC.

Let Caper just worry about the D and he will give you a mad violent D that will scare the **** outta any team his D faces. He is just not a good HC.

Zimmer is a pretty good coach but Parcells is always talking about how he will always take the opportunity to upgrade every position on the field and I dont understand why fans are not at liberty to take the same stance with Coaches and Coordinators.

a blitz that is dependent upon zone coverage, but yet you say Zimmer isn't aggressive? :laugh1:
