I didn't say that buddy, I said nobody vould have foreseen a 4 month injury requiring surgery.

Missing a few games here and there mid season for his back is expected, not tearing his hamstring off the bone
At this point, he doesn't have a young man's recovery time line...

So let me get this right, they should get a vet since Tyron went down like they are now? lol No doubt the plan was to have Tyron starting with Smith playing Guard to start the season getting Smith acclimated to the NFL before throwing him out at tackle, I agree Tyron has missed time but again Dallas has also drafted OL players, sooner or later you got to play them. Peters will likely be brought in, I see this as a good move. What scared me was not making any move on a vet once Tyron went down. So hopefully this deal will be worked out.
I still like the time line with Smith breaking in at guard...Jerry's ego be damned on the truth base-line.

That’s exactly as I hope. I want Smith left inside as much as possible this first season.

however, we really don’t know what they’ll do with Peters if they sign him.
My guess is that they envision him more as insurance for Tyler and see him more as a backup.

I think we win by playing nasty D and running the football. I think we can be a lot more effective running the foot ball with the interior of T. Smith-McGovern-Martin then McGovern-Biadasz-Martin.

Peters allows us to get this interior on the field and probably initially gives us a better LT then throwing a rookie out there to protect the blind side.

Peters signed with the Bears 2 and half weeks into training camp last year and went on to have a pretty good year in 15 games. See no reason he can not do that again based on the film I have seen.

The real issue in my mind is do the boys insult him with their offer.

No way. Peters is the LT if they sign him. Tyler has played G throughout TC and the preseason. No way they go with him now at LT if Peters is on the roster.
When you hear Jerry say it's safe to say Tyler Smith is now our starting LT, I believe it. Other beat reporters are saying the same thing and we are hearing Smith has been practicing also at LT this week. Everything points to Tyler starting at LT. I would start Peters, but that doesn't appear to be the plan as of right now.

not saying it doesnt happen, but can anyone point out a time in recent history that a player was signed upon visiting? seems like guys always leave w/out a deal and then some eventually are signed. rarely while here though
Jerry: "Jason, we would like to offer you a one year contract for $1,000,000 "
Peters: "You know I've been an All Pro and will someday be in the Hall of Fame. I'm going to need $1,000,001"
Stephen: "Sorry things couldn't work out"

I would agree for the 1st game.

Was a great player. Playing a bit with fire due to his age, but he appeared passable last year. For where we are, we really need another NFL caliber tackle.

If the plan is for him to compete for a starter, sign him now. Lets not wait to after the first game where salary is not guaranteed. Get him in here where he can get a lot of reps. We have almost two weeks of practice time...which is different from years past. I would also not like to overload Smith by moving him around.

Dallas first two games are huge for their season. Two supposed good teams at home. If they lose both, we are chasing our tails all season. Tampa should be beatable.

Well sure he's going to say that until they sign somebody. He doesn't have anyone on the roster better than Tyler Smith at LT....at the moment . That changes if they sign Peters.

LOL -- It's crazy! His injuries have been a constant thing for years now, yet it's routinely ignored. He's hell on wheels when he's healthy, but it never lasts long enough to rely on. He's always a trooper, through it all, though. We don't worry about crap, 'til we step in it. o_O
Missed games every season since 2015 and we have no quality back up plan... Nice ...

Hes not coming here to play back up. A dude like that probably wouldn't consider it, rightfully so.

I guess we will have to wait another year to see if we are ready to compete again. This team is definitely sub .500 thanks to these clown bum owners.

Jason Peters was washed 3 years ago, but hey he’s a future hall of famer lets grab him!!!!

Have you watched film on him? Every Dallas reporters (Mosher, Broaddus) etc are saying positive things and he would be a massive upgrade

He graded out very well last year. He's not in his prime form, but he's still better than anyone else we have on the active roster. He gives the offense a chance. If we start the season with the rookie at LT and McGovern at G, Daks not going to make it to Tyrons return.

I’m originally from the Philly area, my family are die hard eagles fans so I’ve watched almost as much eagles as cowboy games. The guy is a wash, he’s lost it plus injury prone now

So we'll have a Hooker and a Peters.

I'm wondering why him over Whitworth? If we're going old.
