Ezeiruaku on communication issues being a result of not playing in preseason

I am willing to bet if a certain poster were to do actual research, he would find most of the best coaches who have a system and a coordinator change and a lot of new starters, play them in the preseason. Common sense

I just doubt it matters. You play a couple of series in preseason and it’s mostly playing cover 2 vs stick concept high percentage type of stuff.

You’re probably not showing a lot of your more complex match coverages that requires high level of communication and offenses aren’t showing their beater plays, high motion rates, etc. you’re not getting high energy crowds in preseason.

Plus if they just needed a few series to get things sorted out why didn’t the game get better in the 2nd half?
Stop using logic.

None of them have anything to do with the coordinator, they just have to do with focus and discipline.

Barham played in preseason and blew a couple of assignments.

The idea that a quarter of preseason would have changed anything against the Giants is stupid. Idk what to tell you.
You’d know better than me for sure, but what I saw from him was serious over pursuit. Getting your brain and physical ability in line with NFL speed vs college can be a thing.

That said, yeah the preseason may not have helped much in that regard, but every rep helps.

I think what this all boils down to…and please respond with your thoughts on this….is that this is gonna take a little while to come together, and we all wanted it to happen immediately, so we are disappointed to learn that the reality was very much fantasy.

There’s no way I’m not believing in this defensive group, but it might take another season to get it right, and the offense will take a hit one way or another by then.

Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku brings up the preseason when talking about the communication breakdowns: “Communication is two-way right. It’s giving and receiving. That’s just something we’ve got to tighten up. You know things are a little different when things are flying around on Sunday night as opposed to it being in practice or camp. First week is never clean. There are obviously going to be mistakes. I, mean, during the preseason, a lot of the starters didn’t really play.”

At least have the starters play a few series in preseason

I know you weren't asking MY opinion...:)

But yes...we probably had high expectations and maybe overenthused. Imean that happens almost every season beginning, right? Hope springs eternal.

My issue with first game is the issues in almostevery single phase of the game. When focring some strips is essentially the only postive...there COULD be something more wrong than just a few more weeks of games. A full season? Oh my...not AGAIN! o_O.

But we shall see. I suppose if we see improvements each week or so...we might make it through the year. :)

Its almost like 2 + 2 is 4. Every year.. every first game... same unprepared, we're rusty nonsense. Got a chance at taking an open book test and not using the book at all. Smh.

He is making excuses just like you do, you ignorant nincompoop.
I think Rockport was saying that playing the starters in preseason is not a good idea because you could get some starters injured, so it is not a good idea in his eyes.

Then, his second point was he thinks they should play some series in the second preseason game. What? Rockport logic. lmao

PLAY IN THE PRESEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG I’ve been saying this for years. stop not playing the starters in preseason. going back to last few years of garrett, Jones were like practice is enough, we don’t want them injured. BS they need in game time, so do the coaches on adjustments. If i was the coach id play them 1st Quarter min every game.
ESPECIALLY if you have a new DC 75% new starters on Defense.

I been screaming this since I've been on this forum. Back in Fisher day. Practicing with your team mates only is pretty worthless. You know what they are going to do-they know what you will do. No one is scheming to attack you.You fear injury as a team or organization. Better get some garlic and a cross or get out of the business. Injuries are going to happen. Ask Malik. Went the whole preseason untouched. Just to get hurt in a meaningless practice.

I agree with this. I wouldn't expect the defense to have any real polish before probably November.

I don't believe in the talent of the group to have any sort of real high ceiling though.

3 preseason games. If the D starters had just played just 1 series in each game, this complete D breakdown would not have happened.
If that's true they should be past the communications issues at this point. I'd like to believe that but I need proof.

Donovan Ezeiruaku just got on Jerry's list ........ one more strike and the trade talk may start.
