Broaddus take on Garrett being fired after this season

That trade was almost identical to what they done for Terry Glenn. That was classic Jerry thinkin one guy could keep the team rolling.

Really, Dallas gave up an undisclosed draft pick for Roy Williams? You mean Joey Galloway.. BTW, despite the fac I don't agree with the trade Joey Galloway was no Roy Williams at that time. He was a phenom in Seattle and a busted knee in his first game what the Cowboys is what ruined the trade overall.

LOL I suspect you were one of the ones calling it camp cupcake. Garrett just tried to put in his system that doesn't mean he blames Wade for going 1-7 when most people know the team got old and there wasn't any depth there.

LOL... I was bashing Garrett since year 2 of Wade's tenure, calling out his ability to go 3 and out on a regular basis. Nothing's changed...

Sure but the Galloway trade was done for the same purpose. To fill a hole that hadn't been filled in the draft. Tying Roy to JG is just a long stretch when all teams try to fill holes in the roster the same way. However it's a perfect example of how far people will go to get marks against Garrett. I think you mighta made my point for me with that one.

So we have a GM who put together teams for 17 years and those teams produced just one playoff win but he is going fire a HC just because he hasn't made the playoffs in 3 years? lol

What makes me smile is when I hear the Jerry will have to fire Garrett to appease the fans but most serious fans would like Jerry to fire the GM and he won’t do that.

True, but that still will not stop people from thinking (actually hoping) that things are different or are in the middle of a change.

Sure but everyone and there brother has been standing around with shovels ready to bury Garrett for no other reason than he's Jerry's guy. I never seen a HC micro analyzed as much as him. The bad part is that he's probably gonna move on to another team and be successful. Rule number one is beat your division rivals and he's done that this year so far , I don't think Broaddus is taking that into account.. I can't see any coach being fired if they're beating division rivals. It would be more likely he'd be fired if what he's telling Jerry isn't adding up when they take the field. But there isn't a coach alive that could keep this defense healthy.

I've been one of the biggest complainers about Garrett since he was first brought on staff as OC before Wade was even hired. And I will be the first to admit that if/when he is fired, Garrett will go somewhere else and be successful. Just not immediately as head coach. The problem is part if this is Garrett's fault, but a lot of the problem is the system in place in Dallas.

My arguement with Garrett has been, is, and always will be that he has not had enough time under a successful system to really be sucessful in Dallas. Bringing him in here with limited experience and with the wacked out systems in place in Dallas only gives a green coach bad habits and gives Jerry another puppet coach. Now some will argue that he was here during the 90's glory days, but it's different being a player in a successful system than coaching it. I feel Garrett needs to spend some time in New England, New Orleans, Seattle, Pittsburgh, or Kansas City. Get under a coach with skins on the wall. Learn from the best and spend time honing his skill. Then he will go for that HC job and be successful. I believe a lot of the mistakes you see Garrett make at this point are due to his lack of experience.

I also believe the last thing Jerry needs here is a head coach with lack of experience (Garrettt, Chan Gailey), or a coordinator retread (Wade Phillips, Dave Campo). Jerry needs a coach here that he has to immediately respect, whether he likes it or not. It may not totally detain his mettling (T.O. and Parcells) but it will curb him just enough that you will eventually see success. That 2007 13-3 team was really Bill Parcell's team on paper, along with most of the coaching staff. Jerry needs a Gruden/Holmgren/Payton/Tony Dungy/Lovie Smith type coach here. One with previous head coaching experience, preferrably one with a a super bowl ring or at least been to the big dance. He would have to find a head coach that does not necessarily want total control over personnel but has a heavy say so since he has to get players that fit for his system. Also these type of Head Coaches will demand total control over the locker room. This makes Gruden, Holmgren, or Lovie Smith a perfect fit.

The perfect scenario would have been Holmgren came here in 2007 and picked up Garrett as part of his staff. By now, Holmgren would have been ready to ride off into retirement and then Garrett would have taken over the reigns well seasoned, and with the experience and systems he needed to be sucessful here. In my eyes, we have actually wasted 7 years trying to give Garrett on the job coaching experience and a million plus dollars a year . . . . . . To me, that was a foolish waste of money.

Anyway, that's been my spin on it since Garrett stepped back into Dallas coaching.

I think the philosophy has changed with Garrett. They are drafting for the future. During those years they were drafting to compliment the team that they had instead of drafting to replace it. These DB's and LB's playing this year won't be rooks next year.

And these LBers and DBs playing this year, what exactly does another year of experience mean if you cannot play? Wilcox cannot be trusted apparently. Webb already looks like a tentative player who struggles to do anything well. As for the linebackers, who were you referring to? Holloman?

At the end of the day it´s about results not about beating the teams in your division, what good does that do when you can´t even win your own division, If he´s fired it´s simply because he hasn´t had the results you want from your HC, no ifs or buts about it, Garrett has been mediocre in Dallas, he´s been the HC for 3.5 years and the OC for 8 so no excuses. As for the injuries, you can throw them out the window (we were hit much harder last year), look around the NFL, everybody’s got them, NE, GB, Chicago, Philly, Seahawks, Ravens, Colts etc. A good team and HC overcomes them, a mediocre one does not, plain and simple.

We live in the Free Agent era, this is not the 90s when it took you 5 years to build a team, if it takes you that long, chances are that many players drafted 4 or 5 years ago won’t be with the same team that drafted them. The window to win is so much smaller than it was before (unless you have Brady and Belichick) and you have to take advantage of the good years, Garret hasn´t done that, that´s the truth.

So unless we make it to the playoffs I just don´t see him here next year.

If I tell myself they cant play already then I would have to stop watching. I aint smart enough to grade players after seeing them play a few games but I have seen plenty of good players suck in their first year. I have to hope they get better or get weeded out during camp next year.

It's not Garretts fault Washington and NY sucked this year LOL and they did a pretty good job against Philli the first game. They shut down the 4th ranked rushing offense with the Raiders last week and shut them down this week by knocking Jennings out of 2 games. You can make a long list of negatives and positives it's up to you which one you do.

As you say we can argue all day and make lists about positives and negatives but IMO it´s about results, Garrett hasn´t gotten them, that it´s not up to discussion.

As you say we can argue all day and make lists about positives and negatives but IMO it´s about results, Garrett hasn´t gotten them, that it´s not up to discussion.

4-0 in the Division right now and people are already giving the division to team that the Cowboys beat already.
