What Are The Chances That Garrett Wins Coach of the Year?

About the same as me winning the lottery without buying a ticket

I don't think that's on the radar. He has a hard time even managing games much less beating out much better coaches for this award.

agree he wins hands down, meaning whether people are raising their hands to voter for Garrett or keeping them down while writing their votes for him, either way it goes he will be winning it this season.

I also agree with myself when drinking.

Did you just agree with your own post?

I'll put $200 against your $100 that he doesn't.
Seems you'd jump on that bet if you see it as a lock

Lets say we have a healthy team and play well, making the playoffs.. The defense is vastly improved and no in game miscues. Could Red be recognized an awarded the Coach of the Year?

Did they expand the playoffs this coming year so we could squeak in at 7-9 this year? Is that what you're talking about?

Absolutely none. If we get to the playoffs, it will be in spite of him not because of him.

Exactly

Has there been a single game since he took over in 2010 that after the game you said to yourself, "man, Garrett really schooled them with that gameplan".

Now compare that to how many games you have thought afterwards that Garrett blew the game with horrible mismanagement.

Point made.

It wasn't even a mistake, much less an embarrassment.

Which always cracks me up, because Garrett had a significant clock management error in the same series leading up to the time out that gets a fraction of the criticism using the time out as he should have when his ST wanted it does.

The problem Idgit is that Garrett has made so many late game mistakes that everything is viewed from this perspective now. If this had happened to hoodie and was a one time thing, it would have blown over. However, Garrett has been criticized very publicly for late game mistakes by everybody from fans to Troy Aikman himself. Even the owner and general manager has said Garrett is currently a "trainee" and the team will benefit from all of these mistakes in the future.

Kinda like the way Romo is labeled a choker, Garrett is labeled as a trainee head coach that has blows games in the most unique ways possible. Just like with Romo, its going to take deep playoff runs to try to erase this label. Going 8-8 each year only reinforces the image that is already out there for both of them, that's just reality.

Zero. Is this a trolling post?

The trainee argument has already been disposed of and it sounds like you need to refresh yourself of the context again. Other than that, the argument is very much like the Romo choker argument. Which is to say, the issue is massively overblown and not very accurate.

I don't really care if and when the label gets erased. I just want him to concentrate on building the team. If the defense improves, fans will immediately forget what they were complaining about. That's the nature of fans.

It's really not even about Garrett.

There are better teams who will have better years and Dallas isn't currently at the bottom so it's unlikely that they will improve upon their record to the same extent one of the teams picking in the top 10 will. I don't believe the difference between a 4 win team and an 8 win team is nearly as great as the difference between an 8 win team and a 12 win team.

I think Dallas would have to far exceed everyone's expectations and win 13 or 14 games and even then there's no guarantee because John Fox is 0-2 over his last two 13 win seasons, and his first 13 win season represented a 5 win bump from the previous year.

If Bridgewater plays well, the Vikings could being much improved.

If Houston gets anything other than horrid QB play, they will be improved. 5 straight weeks with an INT returned for a TD on the Houston offense? Are you serious?

I think Jay Gruden has a greater likelihood. With the East being what the East is the Commanders could improve upon their 3-win season big time. They lost every divisional game last year and only in 2 games did they lose by more than 1 score.

It's not about odds or chances because they are not drawing from a hat. The prerequisite for winning the award is different for every coach.

Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick, John Fox, Sean Payton, and Jim Harbaugh will not win with an 11-win season. They wouldn't even be considered for it because everyone expects that from those teams. Bill O'Brien, Mike Zimmer, and Jay Gruden would get serious consideration and likely win.

I think 12 wins would be the absolute minimum for Jason and even then I think there'd have to be a serious lack of candidates.

The actual quote and it's context have been pointed out, and his intentional misinterpretation has been repeatedly addressed.

Has Jerry made another statement on this I missed? If you are just referring to people here trying to find a Jerry-interpretation that is more favorable to Garrett then I don't see how that validates your "The trainee argument has already been disposed of " claim.

Come on man, you're just wasting your electrons at this point. They're going to believe what they want.
