Yeah, yeah, I know many of us want neither, and hope we solve our quarterback problem through the draft.
But assuming both are available and the Cowboys aren't going to draft a quarterback in 2016, who would you want the Cowboys to sign:

Manziel or RGIII.

Me? I'm going RGIII. Why?

1. He's more talented than Manziel.
2. He doesn't have a problem with alcohol.
3. He has lead a NFL team to the playoffs.
4. He hasn't made a bunch of noise from the sidelines and appears to be more humble about his situation.
5. He'll make the most of his second change compared to Manziel who I think will be the same wherever he goes.

You're up ... ;)

Both have their warts.

At least with RGIII you probably don't have to deal with the alcohol (and possible other drugs).

But the question is not who I would want ( I don't want either for the record but this is an either or scenario), the question is who would Jerry want. We already know jerry wanted Johnny before so I would say he would go with Johnny.

Warning: The topic of this thread is choosing between Manziel or RGIII, not bashing Jerry, Garrett, the front office, etc. In an effort to keep this thread on-topic and in the Fan Zone, if you bash Jerry/Garrett/Front Office in this thread, you will lose access to post in the Fan Zone.

I believe Stephen and Garrett would rule against Manziel. My choice if I had to choose would be RGIII.

RGIII has a stable family life and a youngster and I'm thinking what has happened to him in the last few years has probably humbled him to a good bit. He has the stronger arm and is bigger and faster. That said, he might be the lesser of two evils. Neither he or Manziel has shown much ability to read defenses.

No to both.
But if I HAD to pick between the two I dont think its even close. RG3 WAY OVER Johnny

RG3 is going to go someplace that will give him a chance to start. If he comes here he is basically admitting his career is over and he is willing to carry a clipboard for the rest of it.

Jerry will want Johnny, but we already know the rest of the braintrust doesn't want him. I guess we will see who does make the decisions.

I'm not sure RGIII is more talented than JFB.

Manziel has had uncanny accuracy, even on quick improvised throws, on the run, and especially the long ball.
Also has some of the quickest feet in the game.

But one the most arrogant knuckleheads in the game.

They both have a lot of baggage; one needs to find Jesus or Budda or Goodel, or have some major revelation in order to turn it around.

I don't want either anywhere near this team, but if I had to choose one...RG3.

This is really what I fear. Tell me we are hiring Shanahan's kid to run the read option for Griffin and I might be a little less disgusted.

Easily, RG3. Just because he would be the better QB. Regardless of all the off the field issues, or hype, or JJ liking Johnny. JJ also like RG3 after that one T-Day game.

I would stay with Kellen Moore before I would bring in Manziel or RGIII. One is a drunk and the other damaged goods who lost his job.

At least RG3 has proved himself in this league and certainly has more talent and less off field bagage....I've said it numerous times that Manziel will be out of this league in three years, he acts like a child, has serious alcohol and behavior problems and doesn't have the skill set for a NFL starting quarterback and the last thing this team needs is the gong show that he brings to this locker room with Jerry making excuses and enabling him time and time again...

I'm not sure RGIII is more talented than JFB.

Both are about the same to me. They are incapable of running effective plays in structured offenses. Manziel's other drama aside, they are not that different on the field, except that Manziel is healthier.

People that want Griffin did not watch him look just awful in the preseason when he was the starter for Washington. He was so bad, they had no choice but to go to Cousins and demoted him, immediately I may add, all the way down to third string.

It's tough because both have mobility, but struggle with accuracy. If I had to choose I'd go RG3.

RG3 doesn't have a problem with alcohol because 1 beer gets him drunk. Dude is a lightweight.

*my 2nd cousin lived below him at Baylor

I agree if I had to take one it would be RGIII
My problem with RGIII is that I'm not sure what he is anymore, comes with a lot of mental and family baggage and I don't have any confidence that we have anyone on our staff that can develop him

I heard what Eli says about Coughlin the other day: Coughlin made Eli draw up EVERY blitz and the needed protections after every game in his first few years. That is what RGIII needs if he is serious about playing QB in the NFL.

If I'm him and I'm serious about this, I go to a place like NE where the coach will break down everything and start from scratch

I haven't seen/paid much attention to him since his first year and the read option - what does he seem to struggle with? Is it reads or just general accuracy. Or does he still not trust the knee?

I'm no QB maestro by far but even seeing our backups this year you could at least generally see the issues with them.
