How about a tantrum and threats of violence if he is not immediately reinstated?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Tony in meltdown mode starts screaming at Jerry, "you're a traitor, you blankety blank liar!"

Jerry yells back, "I made you, you sniveling ungrateful blankety blank!"

Tony suddenly lunges at Jerry, putting him in a headlock. Jason Garrett has to pull him off. Then Stephen Jones has to retrain his father as he screams hysterically, "You're through! You're finished, you washed up choker!!!"

Romo responds, "Choker? You stupid, senile son of a blankety blank! I got you this stadium, do you hear me? Your no talent teams couldn't win a flag football game against 12 year old girl scouts without me!!!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I know, Tony's not like that. He is going to be a team player.

I think they negotiated something in which he agrees to play out the year as the backup and will then retire. Perhaps not.

It could be, in exchange for cap relief, the Cowboys agree to a one year contract in which they cannot to trade him in the offseason, it will be Tony's choice.

Obviously not good for the franchise but hillarious if that happened.

Maybe Romo should hold his interview doing sit ups in the parking lot.

He's no longer the starter. He shouldn't be holding a media session unless it's something important.

He has been the face of the franchise for several years. If it were Aikman in the same situation, I would expect the same.

We all want to know what he has to say on this issue, I believe he wants to address it so there isn't all the typical media speculation going around that can divide a locker room.

just pointing out I don't think you comprehend how the media and this team works very well or why Tony would speak on a Tuesday.

I may not.
I did a little for public relations for a company, so I am only speaking from my personal experience.

If I were Tony, I do not want to become a distraction, but I would not want people creating conspiracy theories on TV about why I am flying on Jerry's jet either.

Who would have thought that the mere appearance of Romo would foster such contention and anxiety. It was never like this before.
It's ludicrous... Romo has mastered the art of saying nothing almost as well as Garrett. His media session will be highly deflating. lol

He probably will.
If he renegotiates the next 2 years to spread his cap hit into 4 years, he would be Saint Romo.
I wonder if Sanchez's spot is secure.
Although this would be the smart move, the smarter move would probably be to trade Romo for a 1st pick. And lastly, if he did restructure his contract, he could retire a Dallas Cowboy and share in all victories Dallas Cowboy wise. It will also give him a year or two to get completely healthy.

This is why Jones is so happy. He has so many options right now, Dak Prescott has given this franchise options out the wazoo.

Not that I wish Tony would say this, but I wish he would say this.

"Well, I'm beaten all to hell because Jerry kept signing jersey-selling lightweights instead of offensive linemen for years. Appreciate that, Jerry. How's your boy Johnny Football doing? I finally know the game like Yoda, but I feel like Jaba. Dak gets to play Cowboys and Indians with Zeke and the meat-eaters while I'm locked up like a sardine in an incubation chamber. Ever try to make love in a straight jacket? I mean, not by choice with a room full of strippers, Jerry? Thanks again. Candace thanks you, too. I'm good to go now, but you done lucked out with a 4th-rounder for Jermey Parnell, and I love the kid. I hate that I love the kid, but I do. So, here we go, rock and roll. I want to play football real bad, so throw some picks or something, Dak. Help an older brutha out. Go Cowboys."

You know, something like that.

I don't think Romo will retire at seasons end. I think some team that believes they're a quality QB away from winning it all will try and trade for him.

I expect he will be all class, as usual, today.

He may not be the starter, but he is an iconic figure in Dallas. This will have to be addressed at some point very soon or it will become a growing distraction with each passing day. I think Tony's doing this today so the team won't have to deal with the madness tomorrow and everyday thereafter that he doesn't address it. Of course, the media will hound Dak tomorrow for his take on the situation, but it's a necessary evil at this point. "Just do it and get it over with" is what is taking place here, IMO. Tony will handle this the right way. It's the only way he knows.

This is a mistake if he will publicly speak (and be questioned) about the team's quarterback position. Any definitive statements should be made by those in authority, either Jason Garrett or Jerry Jones. An employee, even the quarterback of the team, should not be speaking on the matter until after statements are completely and clearly given by management. Otherwise, shame on Garrett and Jones for not manning up.
I agree that would be Usual operating procedure but this is a unusual case and a highly respected leader of the team.

Would we feel comfortable with him as a backup after this season? Or would we be better off with a healthier veteran backup? Don't get me wrong, I think Tony would be a tremendous backup and asset to this team...

What if Lineham get a head coaching job, he might get consideration, could they offer Tony the job of OC?

Fair enough. Hopefully we get a bit more insight from Tony than we've gotten otherwise on the situation.

All Romo needs is a championship...it doesn't matter if he is the 2nd or 3rd string. Get that championship on your resume
For HOF consideration, it will matter whether he was a significant contributor to a championship. There are enough detractors amongst the voters that he would have a difficult time getting votes as THE starting QB on a championship team, much less as a noncontributing backup. They would not refer to him as a "Super Bowl champion QB" were he not the starter because, in reality, he would not be. I'd love for him to win a SB himself. Probably won't happen...at least here in Dallas, unfortunately.

I'd feel totally comfortable with him as the backup after this season, if he actually wanted to be. The latter part being the key.
