RELEASED Nolan Carroll Released

I am glad they made an example of the guy who gave up all those points the last 2 games. Oh wait.... he didn't play? If he is not good enough to stick on this defense, he must really suck.

I don't think you will see anyone officially say it was performance related and all but admit he was a poor signing though.

This is just connect the dots. Will probably know a lot more if he ends up signing elsewhere quickly whether the concussion is a bigger deal.

Again, he practiced last week. If it was anything about the concussion, he wouldn't have.

This is raising the white flag and admitting a colossal blunder.

Yeah, this new wave of prudent moves in FA (read, hit the bargain bin) isn't really working out.

Far more busts than successes. I thought Paea would be a big help here but he's oft injured and hasn't played great himself.

Front office better figure out why the hell they suck at FA.

I think they would have brought one back............ if the price was right. I don't think this was a case of them not wanting either back at any price.

It surely wasn't. Just look at the numbers and the timeline.

Once Carroll took this deal in Dallas, the others quickly signed elsewhere. For nearly the same money. In fact, the Ravens were chasing Claiborne but he wouldn't take the deal that Carr ultimately did.

The Cowboys decision was the first shoe to drop. And they screwed up and picked the worst option.

Based on how close those numbers were, and the timing of the signings, I think the Cowboys had a vision - of a bridge veteran while they drafted for the future - and a set price. A price they didn't budge off of. Carr and Claiborne wanted more, Carroll took the offer. Carr and Claiborne soon signed elsewhere.

Based on results? Dallas made a big mistake at the cost of a million bucks.

Obviously the Carroll signing was not a good one.

But on the other hand it seems the top 3 corners as of right now are Scandrick, Brown and Lewis. And the 2nd rounder is the 4th corner.

Lewis has played well... Good draft pick.

So why can't this team admit it is making a mistake by keeping Kellen Moore.
Why is Heath still here, or at least bench the guy and start Woods. Heath can be ST's only.

No argument there. I think they did well with the cornerbacks they drafted. The Awuzie hamstring thing is frustrating though because you can't see what he can do.

Brown isn't playing great, but there's no other options right now.

That "bridge" that Carroll was supposed to provide was much shorter than anyone expected.

It's possible that this is but the first of several moves. Both on the roster and in the starting lineup.

It's obvious that what they've been doing isn't working.

I wonder if the DUI thing factored in the decision.

Very likely as well.

DUI charge. Poor on-field play. Then injured. About as bad a start as you could think of.

I think they'd seen enough. Double-edged sword. Shame on them for making the mistake, credit for admitting it and doing something about it. Just like Cedric Thornton.

Whoa, that was faster than expected.

We sure been striking out on our FA signings, if true

He was always a short-termer, but being out and Lewis stepping up made him expendable. Entering camp, our top three corners were him, Brown and Scandrick (not in that order). His play in the Denver game and Lewis at least looking like he belongs on the field cemented his fate, although admittedly I did not think we'd cut bait until the end of the year.

I hope this is a good sign that Awusie is pretty healthy considering that we need depth beyond the top three spots.

Agreed.

It was a poor signing.

But at least they're not trying to milk it.
